Surgery on J.J. McCarthy’s torn meniscus revealed that a repair was necessary and the Vikings rookie quarterback now will miss the 2024 season.

While the Vikings are disappointed, they “strongly believe he will come back better and have a long, successful NFL career”, as one team official said. But rookie season is over.

NFL training camp news from Friday, August 2nd.

- Drake Maye has put together back to back good practices after rough start. Maye went 18-24 in the last two practices.

- Jalen McMillan the early front-runner to be WR3 in Tampa Bay. Bucs reporter Greg Auman said he believes McMillian has done "everything he could to assert himself as WR3 in camp.

- Jarvis Landry works out for the New York Jets. He hasn't played since 2022.

- Adonai Mitchell has not been the same playmaker he was during the spring when the rookie seemingly made a noteworthy catch every practice ... But the second-round pick has been relatively quiet throughout team periods, especially when he’s been with the first unit. Mitchell’s lack of production is not to say he’s behind schedule. It simply serves as a reminder that he has a lot to learn while adjusting to the NFL. As it stands now, however, Pierce remains firmly in place as the Colts’ third starting receiver.

- Ho**er has reportedly “stood out” at Lions training camp. Many NFL scouts reportedly believe Ho**er could be the “Jordan Love type successor” to Jared Goff.

- Brandon Aiyuk wasn't at practice Friday. Aiyuk remains unhappy as he has not received his contract extension.

- Kyle Pitts is turning heads at Falcons camp. Pitts has reportedly had the best camp of his career. He's "hungry" and motivated to show people the "unicorn he really is" according to Drake London.

- Federal judge has overturned a jury's $4.7 billion verdict in the class-action lawsuit filed by "Sunday Ticket" subscribers against the NFL and has granted judgement to the NFL. It is like the plaintiffs will again appeal to the 9th circuit.
