We're going to the top. I don't think a lot of hemming and hawing about it is going to change a darn thing. We can debate doing it until we're all blue in the face. I like a good debate as much as the next man, but if any of us were going to walk away we'd have done it long before now.

The military funded a TV show. The original 'Rival Peak' in Germany, it seems. Don't that beat all. Makes me wonder if the military isn't still funding a TV show. I haven't said it to the others, as Karen would take to it like a fish to water, but seems to me that this might all still be a military funded experiment. Assuming it isn't some Kafka-esque horror situation.

When I came up here I thought I'd have a lot of time to whittle. Never been good at it, thought I'd get better. Now that we're near the end, I can say, I have spent roughly an hour or two in the last three months whittling.

Whatever happens next, I will miss this mountain. I have faced some things that left me showing sides of myself I'm not proud of to the world. However, there is a noble spirit on this rock. The trees and the sky. When the sun sets and when the sun rises, this place sings in a voice of beauty.

I'm not saying we can't trust people. I'm saying we shouldn't trust people without at least thinking it through. Bose, Rosenblatt, these are all people with their own goals and their own desires. Each of us as well. You can't see inside someone else's head. Bose seems like he's a bit single minded. However, Tangram has not yet let anyone get hurt despite bears, wolves, and mutant creatures. Rosenblatt also seems like a bleeding heart in some ways. You can trust a bleeding heart, as it's easy to know how they'll feel, but also they're the most likely to turn on you. Feeling what their heart bleeds for is morally right. However, anyone who claims to have the moral high ground is often someone arguing from sinking quicksand.

Inola does not seem to want to consider the glowing eye situation with the 'possessions' might be anything other than people from the past talking through us today. I'm not saying that isn't what it is, but that also, she seems willing to believe everything else is fake. I don't know if picking and choosing like that is actually the right way to go about things.

Tangram, or whoever runs this show, seems like they might have chosen me because of a brain scan I had. Now, this isn't a philosophical thing so much as this is an 'I don't like being pushed around' thing. I don't like the idea that I was chosen before I decided to do something myself. This isn't about free will; it's about manners. They could have just asked me to come on the show instead of tricking me into it. The people who run this thing lack decency.

Mind control is a tricky subject. Some people think the PCDs might be doing true, real, full, mind control. Without free will, what is a man? If man never had free will, does that change who we are when we find out we had no free will? Do we have free will and that can be taken away? Do we LACK free will and it can be GIVEN? These are all the same question, which is the question about how we think and what our thinking even means. I've suggested it before, but if anyone doesn't know the thought experiment 'the Chinese box' you should go read about it. It does a good job of covering most of the important aspects of this conversation far better than I ever could.

I must say that while people do seem to be irritable, getting some time alone, and also being out of that bunker, has actually done wonders for me and feeling better. I don't feel trapped. I had to stop working as an oil rigger thanks to being unable to handle being so confined in. So, I'm not saying I don't' have my cranky black dog days, but I am saying that I'd rather have them in the open than trapped in a cement box.

I do sometimes truly think this might all be a dream. The shared dreams we have seem to feel less off from reality than normal each time. As if the two are coming closer together. That or I need to stop eating so much before I go to sleep.

The thing about the things are, that I don't know the answer to any of the things. As hard as it is to accept, we often have to know we know nothing to learn anything. Preconceptions can be the dearth of knowledge........ but you have to build on what you know. Huh.

I like the others, don't think I don't, but I also like time to think and listen to me and what I want. I know myself well enough to know that after about a week of being alone like this, I start to miss other humans with a dull ache, but those first few days can be very nice. I won't be trying too hard to find anyone else for at least a day or so.

I'm on my own two days in a row for the first time in almost three months. This is honestly refreshing. I can hear myself think. It's just me and the trees. The sky, the ground. Cold and hard and honest is the world around me.
