Story of the Chronicle

Civil.ge was born in 2001 as one of the first Georgian English-language news web magazines, out of the initiative of its founders from the UN Association of Georgia, its parent NGO which still supports and host it.

Although it was, and still remains, tri-lingual, published also in Georgian and Russian, English has always been our website’s main language. Over the years, through commitment and professionalism of our staff, Civil.ge has established itself as the true chronicle of Georgia’s political life, used daily by political officers, journalists and analysts interested in Georgia’s affairs worldwide.

In 2008, Civil.ge’s status as Georgia’s true public service has received an unwelcome confirmation of sorts, as it was attacked as a part of cyber warfare strike on Georgia’s critical infrastructure ahead of Russia’s invasion.

Staking our presence on Facebook, we strive to adapt our editorial commitment and style to this new social media.
