Hopetown Darlington - a £35 million rail heritage visitor attraction has officially opened today in Darlington. The visitor feedback and press so far have been fantastic!

Figment Productions, in partnership with project lead consultants PLB Projects Ltd (www.plbltd.com), created over 30 multimedia interactives. From immersive soundscapes, family-friendly touchscreens, to character Magic Mirror photo opportunities. Hopetown Darlington delves into the rich history of passenger railways in it's original birthplace nearly 200 years ago.

Our favourites? The large-scale 'Made In Darlington' projections of locomotives in the Goods Shed and the Augmented Reality Character APP we created, where visitors can meet historical figures around the Hopetown Darlington site.

Last night, we were thrilled to win the 'Best Use of Digital' award at the Museums + Heritage Awards 2024 for our immersive cinematic experience, Dive the Mary Rose 4D. It's truly an honour to be recognised alongside esteemed institutions like the V&A Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in the same category. Well done Team Figment Productions and The Mary Rose

In collaboration with Merlin Magic Making, Figment has brought to life the vibrant world of Roxie Racer and her team captains at the Minifigure Speedway, the world’s first LEGO themed duelling rollercoaster at LEGOLAND Windsor.

Figment was asked to produce animations, voiceovers, and interactive content, covering every aspect of the guest's ride journey. Creating two pre-show queue line films, team selection, ride loading bays and ride exit animations.

Through animation, immersive sound design and interactive storytelling this work expanded upon our previous Figment project, 'the Great Lego Race', existing within the same universe.

Penderyn Whisky opened a new distillery in Swansea, on the site of the historically important Welsh copper works.

Figment brought the story of the regions copperworks to life, with filmed actors portraying the famous scientist Michael Faraday, alongside the Welsh copper works owner, John Henry Vivian.

Visitors to the Penderyn distillery can book a tour to learn about the whisky making process on this important site, and the tour begins with our 10 minute immersive experience, which takes guests back to the mid 19th Century to witness Michael Faraday and his experiments with copper.

SOME EXCITING NEWS!
Next spring The Mary Rose at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will be opening a brand-new immersive experience for their visitors created by Figment Productions. The 4D theatre experience '1982: Dive the Mary Rose' will showcase the untold story of the finding, excavation, and recovery of the Mary Rose. Unseen footage will be brought to life through the smells, sounds and movement from the raising, with visitors given 3D glasses and CGI used to optimise the experience.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Raising of the Mary Rose. Last year, we were proud to work on the 1545 Immersive Experience at the Mary Rose in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Featuring immersive sound, CGI, large scale projection, and a 'full-sized' filmed Henry VIII we took the visitors back to the fateful day of the ships sinking back in 1545.

We are also extremely excited to be working with the MR team once again, to deliver a new immersive experience for 2023!

We are looking for a 3D Animator to join our talented and dynamic team to work on a variety of media including cutting edge VR projects. The Animator will work closely with 3D Artists and Technical Artists to bring to life characters and objects for rendered and real-time content pipelines. The role will predominantly require character animation, as well as the ability to work with props and environments.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience in Autodesk Maya
• Rigging skills
• A good eye for movement and secondary motion
• Ability to make critical artistic and process decisions to produce the best quality product
• A can-do attitude with the ability to adapt quickly to different project challenges.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:
• Technical artist skills and/or experience with lighting, shaders and material setup in Unreal Engine
• Motion Capture experience
• Experience with VR content production
• Unity or Unreal Engine experience.

We are looking for a Designer to join our talented and dynamic team to work on a variety of projects including cutting edge VR, multi-surface projection, UI and Interactives . You will work closely with all parts of the creative team to bring together graphical elements and animations for a number of different projects. At Figment no two projects are ever the same! The candidate will require a strong background in design, with experience using Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and/or character animation.

REQUIREMENTS:
· 3+ years experience with Adobe Suite. In particular, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects
· Strong portfolio of creative and visually engaging work
· A passion for design, with an excellent eye for detail
· Ability to work self-sufficiently and as part of a team
· A can-do attitude with the ability to adapt quickly to different project challenges.

We are looking for a UE4 Technical Artist to join our talented and dynamic team to work on a variety of projects including cutting edge VR projects. The UE4 Technical Artist will work closely with 3D Artists and Developers to bring together Environments and FX for rendered and real-time content pipelines. The role will predominantly require a good knowledge of Unreal Engine, as well as the ability to integrate 3D Assets, Character Animations and Effects into the Unreal scenes.

REQUIREMENTS:
· Experienced in UE4 and Autodesk Maya or Blender
· A good knowledge of Blueprint
· Experience with lighting, shaders and material setup in Unreal Engine

Project Spotlight: Current Rising – The highly acclaimed and multi-award nominated Opera in Hyper Reality.

Developed by a female-led creative team and funded by UK Research and Innovation, Current Rising is a timely experiment blending historic stagecraft, artistic excellence and cutting-edge technology, turning the notion of what it means to go to the opera on its head. Current Rising is a 15-minute hyper reality opera experience, combining virtual reality with a multisensory set, inviting audiences to step into a bespoke ‘Opera Tardis’ and experience a dream-like journey carried musically by a poem layered in song.

A unique collaboration between the Royal Opera House Audience Labs and Figment Productions, with audience insight research undertaken by Royal Holloway, University of London. The project was funded by Innovate UK and Figment Productions as part of the “Audience of the Future” programme.

Project Spotlight: THE SILVERSTONE EXPERIENCE IMMERSIVE DOME SHOW

The immersive dome projection which fills your vision like a giant VR headset is enhanced by the use of 4D effects like rumble and wind, plus a stunning 5.1 surround sound track.

The film was produced entirely by the Figment team and involved a 360 film shoot, covering the track with our special camera rig mounted on a Ferrari normally used for ‘track days’. This was followed by painstaking visual effects work to fill the grandstands with screaming fans and CGI work to re-create those iconic moments with legendary vehicles including faithfully-produced old motorbikes, Wellington bomber airplanes, vintage motor racing cars, the Red Arrows and many Formula 1 classics.
