Here are a couple of stills from The Lowry in Manchester just before Christmas.

We collaborated with Northern Heart Films to carry out a couple of interviews at Lightwaves Salford.

The interviews will be part of a couple of short films that they are putting together.

Was good to collaborate will fellow local creatives.

Looking forward to seeing how the final films turn out.

It's been a whole year since filming commenced on our short film Coming Home.

This short film shares the story of Sarah Dearden Art, an artist from Lancashire.

Sarah found her passion of creativity early, but later started to struggle with her mental health and had to endure some really dark moments.

Creativity was her light at the end of the tunnel.

She now offers creative services to others to help improve mental health and build confidence.

If you haven't already seen it, I would appreciate if you could watch and leave a comment with what you thought.

Thank you

These interviews will be featured in a couple of short films to promote the light festivals and artists.

Be fun to see how the edits come out.

This is most common interview style in video ๐ŸŽฅ

The person on camera is looking slightly off centre talking to someone behind the camera

Itโ€™s very popular on TV and documentaries.

But why?

It makes people feel at ease.

Staring straight into a lens talking is quite intense.

If you have ever tried it, you will know what I mean.

Instead of someone having a conversation with a camera, they are having a conversation with a real person.

It can help them forget about the camera and the lights.

This way the conversation flows more naturally.

It allows them to open up and be honest and vulnerable.

This is where the magic occurs and we get those precious gems of information.

An important part of the video planning process is finding reference shots.

They help us visualise how we want our video to look.

When first planning a project, it all starts with an idea in the mind.

We have nothing solid to work off.

Thatโ€™s where pre-production comes in to play.

Part of this process includes finding reference shots.

These can help us plan the camera angle, lens choice, lighting setup and much more.

Most importantly, they can help us visualise the mood we want capture.

The mood helps determine the emotions we can bring out of the viewer.

This video shows the reference image that we worked off, the interview setup and the final shot achieved.

How to create a promo video for your business that connects.

(Even if it's your first video)

Weather you're buying the filming equipment yourself or hiring someone to produce the video, you need to know how much you want to spend.

Try and stick to this, pockets are only so deep.

๐—š๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€
This will determine the primary focus of the video. Do you want to drive sales, raise brand awareness or promote a new product/service?

Depending on what you want to achieve, the video may need to be approached in a different way.

Identify your target audience and speak to their pain points. Focus on the problem and the needs of your audience that your business can help solve.

Think about the emotions you want to evoke - trust, excitement, happiness etc.

People connect better with stories than just raw information. Tell the audience your story. Why you got started, what keeps you going and how you want to help people.

Highlight a pain point that your customers face, show them your solution to this, then showcase a transformation of how you have helped.

You need to engage the viewer with high quality visuals. Stick to your budget on this one. Equipment is becoming cheaper these days. Try to use a camera that captures 4K footage. This will give you more flexibility later on.

Don't forget the audio. This is often an afterthought, but is just as important as the visuals. Choose music that aligns with your brand and make sure any vocals are crisp and clear.

Will the video be posted on your website, or is it mainly for social media? Answering this question will help you during the filming process.

If your video will be posted to a website, Youtube or Linkedin, you may want to film the video horizontally so it best fits with the platform.

If the video is mainly for Instagram or TikTok, then you probably want a vertical video.

Think about this during the planning process.

After the video is finished, tell the viewer what you want them to do.

Do you want them to sign up to a newsletter, visit a products/services page to purchase something, or do you want them to follow you on social media?

Let them know

There can be a lot more strategy involved in planning promotional videos, but these points should help in the beginning.

We hope you all found this post useful. If you did, let us know in the comments.

This one tip improves all of our videos ๐ŸŽฅ

Including foreground in the shots.

Our focus on making videos, is keeping the viewer engaged.

One way to do this is to make the shots interesting.

By placing something between the camera and the subject, we can make things more dynamic.

Foreground could be a building, a person, a tree, the list is endless.

Movies and TV shows do this quite often.

It can make a boring shot come to life.

It can also help draw the viewers eye to an important part of the scene.

The world revolves around PEOPLE

The products we use are designed by people.

The shops we visit are run by people.

People are so important.

If you make any video content for your business, I think itโ€™s important to showcase people.

Show your employees and tell their unique stories.

Show you customers and how your business helps them and makes them happier.

People are our favourite thing to shoot.

The most compelling stories usually come from the people you would least expect.

๐ŸŽฅ New Video Production Work ๐ŸŽฅ

Here is our latest video work, produced in collaboration with The Anderton Centre in Lancashire.

They have restructured their corporate events programme and asked us to produce video content to be used as marketing material.

Here's what we produced:

โœ… Long form story driven video to be featured on the website and to be sent to inbound leads.

โœ… Alternate shorter version to be used on social media as organic content and ads.

โœ… Accompanying short form vertical reels to build exposure.

It was good to work together with CEO David Germain to nail down the focus of the video and what he wanted to achieve.

Special thanks to the attendees from Leyland DAF trucks who took part in the day and also provided some good comments and feedback for the camera.

Additional thanks goes out to all the staff at The Anderton Centre who helped this come together on the day.

Hope you all enjoy!

Our collaboration with The Anderton Centre goes live next week.

We have produced some video content to promote their corporate events programme.

It was good to see the instructors in action and see how the attendees progressed during the day.

New 5 Star Google Review

We were flattered to receive this great review from our recent work.

Throughout the video production process we really try to get to know our clients problems and what they want to achieve.

We donโ€™t want to just produce any video.

It has to be meaningful.

It has to solve a problem.

But must of all, the client needs to be happy and taken care of.

If you are looking for any video production work for your business, drop us a DM and let us see how we can help you.

We love to bring projects to life using colour ๐ŸŽฅ

Here is a little bit of before and after colour grading from our latest production.

Colour grading allows us to take the unflattering raw footage and bring this to life!

This production took place in nature at The Anderton Centre in Lancashire.

The location provided a lush backdrop of greenery to help bring these scenes to life.

We wanted to make the viewer experience what itโ€™s like to be in the outdoors.

How do you think these shots turned out?

Final production to be released in the coming weeks.

There is a lot that goes into making a video.

Most of which goes unseen.

But without these things, we canโ€™t achieve the final outcome.

The most common unseen areas are:

- Planning how the shoot will happen
- Admin, quotes and payments
- Trying things and failing
- Secure storage of files
- Upgrading equipment
- Marketing the project

Social media is full of highlight reels.

Rarely do we see the daily struggles to achieve the main goals.

Sometimes when shooting interviews for clients, we have to use the locations that are available to us.

This was no different.

All filming was taking place in a very short window at the end of the day.

With the nature of the production a good location would have been outside.

However, with the ever changing light and high wind noise, this wasnโ€™t practical.

We decided to bring the interview inside and use the outside greenery as a backdrop.

This meant we could control most of the light and have crisp audio with no background noise.

A few more stills from our video project for The Anderton Centre

One of the main area of focus for the guys and girls taking part was collaboration.

It was great to see everyone working together, helping each other and overall just having a fun time.

I got to witness how the communication improved throughout the day.

This wasnโ€™t just another team building day.

The participants were learning vital skills to take back into the workplace.

This job takes us to some really fun places at times.

Here are a few behind the scenes shots of some tree climbing activities we filmed last week.

It wasnโ€™t a small tree either, it was high!

Some fears were conquered here.

We followed a group of colleagues through the corporate events programme.

The outdoor greenery provided an amazing backdrop for numerous shots.

We will be posting more updates as the project progresses.
