This was born in Billinge & began with Orrell St James. Sts are his club & he spent his time with his legs dangling over the Knowsley Road wall watching his heroes if he wasn't trying to be them on a Sunday morning. He grew up playing for Wigan Town team but signed scholarship forms with St.Helens RLFC. He went through the ranks at Sts & achieved the ultimate in playing first team. His career has included Sheffield Eagles, Leigh Leopards Salford Red Devils RLFC & currently Barrow Raiders. Ladies & Gents Mr Matt Costello.

This weeks is Widnes born but Wire developed, beginning at Port Diamonds then Widnes Tigers before heading to Crosfields ARLFC & repping Wire town team. He played both codes at Wade Deacon but it was always rugby league for this man. Few clubs were keen for his signature but Warrington Wolves won the race & he managed to play academy, Alliance & first team with the Wolves before signing for Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club Rochdale Hornets & Swinton Lions RLFC Widnes, Rochdale & Swinton. Now running a successful construction company Hulse Renovations LTD Ladies & Gents Mr Gary Hulse.

This weeks hails from Leigh, who is bang into his football & Manchester United but he watched Leigh Leopards with his dad. Football was his chosen sport until Leigh Miners came along & he didn't look back & his ambitions changed, play one game for Leigh. That journey began with the town team, service area, scholarship, academy & then first team. His career also included clubs such as Whitehaven Rugby League 2010 Barrow Raiders Dapto Canaries Swinton Lions RLFC & North Wales Crusaders Rugby League Club. He came & spent the summer helping coach Widnes RUFC a few years ago & looked the real deal as a coach. Ladies & Gents Mr Ian Mort.

Matthew Smith is one that has seen lots of success both on & off the field. He has a great nack of being a baller on the pitch & on the beers, this making the lad really easy to get on with but also being able to win you a game with a bit of magic. He's travelled the world with Hayley & they always have open arms to guests to visit & by God, they don't half look after you. This is one heck of a sport & life journey.

This weeks begins in West Derby where he went to school at St Edwards College. Rugby was the sport that school played but he played football for a club. Despite trials with Liverpool FC & other opportunities in the round ball game fate took him to Widnes RUFC where he played for a very successful colts team & first team. An opportunity at Camp America opened his eyes to the world & travel is what he done whilst managing to play rugby in various countries. His clubs includes Sefton RUFC Liverpool Collegiate RUFC Halton Farnworth Hornets Abu Dhabi Harlequins Phuket Vagabonds Rugby Noosa Pirates Rugby League Club & Brisbane Irish Rugby Football Club . This weeks hails from Leigh & played his Junior rugby for Leigh Miners Rangers. Played for Leigh town team through the age groups & rep'd Leigh Academy, skippering them during his time. He finished playing earlier than anticipated but as one door closes another opens as his coaching career began. He began at LMR, took charge of Leigh Reserves, LMR first team and had a really successful spell here, Tyldesley which brought more success, Swinton first as an assistant and then head coach and now he's leading the charge at Widnes Vikings while still being involved with the England Community Lions set up. Ladies & Gents Mr Allan Coleman.

This weeks is that of a Bury Rd lad from the heart of Ditton in Widnes, who loves his sport, particularly football & Rugby. Growing up loving Everton Football Club and playing with the round ball, his mates from the estate talked him into rugby & he never looked back. He played for Halton Farnworth ARLFC, West Bank Bears, West Bank Swans & Widnes RUFC. He played 20's for Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club & went onto represent England in the student RL comp. He then moved down south to London Skolars Rugby League & Hemel Stags until finding a home with Newcastle Thunder. A short spell at Workington Town Rugby League Football Club kept the love of the game alive before returning to Thunder to finish his career. Ladies & Gents Mr Evan Simons

Whilst doing the "Trot The Egg In" podcast & speaking to people involved both codes of the game we love, I've realised a lot of things that guests have had to go through.

Sacrafices, this is not just themselves but their friends & loved ones.

Injury, the actual injury & what it takes to come back both physically & Mentally. The rigorous rehab & a lot of the time on your own, setbacks & what that means physically & Mentally.

Performance, the daily grind of doing the small details that all combine to make that one percent difference to you & your team. The culmination of all the hard work coming together on matchday but not guaranteeing the desired result or things happening for you.

And for me the most important thing, Family.

Family, being able to separate being a player & being a parent/guardian. Having the time to have enough quality time with family & friends, having the right support network that enables you to thrive & be the best version of you without being yes & good time people.
