Some great news for Soulies regarding next year’s July Soul Weekender in Whitby - 3rd to 6th July 2025.

Whitby Soul Club is joining forces with Dave Featherstone’s 60’s Mod crew, under the banner of Soul Along The Coast, to cover the July 2025 Soul Weekender in association with the Abbey Wharf, Whitby and The George Pub N Hotel Whitby

The two forces will combine all DJs in their respective pools, at the two venues, to provide some alternative soul sounds, in an organised and coordinated fashion, so there isn’t the same music being played at both venues at the same time.

Combining forces will also enable a wider choice of across-the-board soul music to be offered from Thursday evening on 3rd July through to early Monday morning on the 7th, ie, Northern, modern, R&B, 6Ts, Motown, Rare Groove & Underplayed.

More details to follow in due course.

We had a great first day in the Wharf yesterday, with some fabulous music played by all the DJs, and the dance floor was bouncing (with all ages) to a mix of scooter sounds and across the board soul & RnB. The place was mobbed and we’re gonna do it all again today. Below is today’s line-up and few pics from yesterday. Get this weekend in your diary folks. DJ Honey is a simply superb DJ and flies the soul flag high & proud.

We are super excited to announce..
DJ Honey will be jetting into the UK & will be joining us in the Chapel on the Hill.

On the 8th & 9th of September.
We will be doing 2 x Alldayers 2pm till 10pm (ish) Friday & Saturday.
Further event info and more great guest DJ's to be announced soon.

DJ Honey has previously joined us for a few live radio shows over lockdown and is now going to be joining us in person to spin a few tunes from the pulpit, in the stunning Chapel on the Hill.

She is a longtime lover of soul music and avid record collector, DJ Honey is the host of the regularly charting radio show Kiss! Kiss! Bang! Bang! on London’s Soho Radio and Mixcloud, as well as international DJ, spinning in Australia, UK, USA, Japan and SE Asia. A soul sister through and through, now living in Asia, Honey plays sultry and exciting all vinyl sets celebrating soul, jazz and original RnB of the 50s through to 70s!

Thursday evening’s Soul Along The Coast show (part) recorded live in the Whitby Studio of Coast and County Radio. It’s my last show (for a while anyway). Hope there’s a little bit of something in the mix to oscillate your eardrums (in a good way), and perhaps get the feet shuffling…🎶

My final Soul Along The Coast show (for a while anyway). As usual, it's a mix of soulful sounds, consisting of Northern, Modern & Crossover Soul, Chicago Blues, 60s R&B, Soul-Jazz and a bit of Mod to wrap it all up.

Further to Marc’s recent posts, giving advance notice of Whitby Soul Club’s 10 year anniversary events to be held at the Chapel On The Hill venue in Whitby, we’ve had a few enquiries about the 2023 Whitby Soul Weekender in July. We can confirm that Whitby Soul Club will still be managing the Soul sessions at the Abbey Wharf Bar/Restaurant in Whitby, as usual, over the 3 days of the Soul Weekender, ie, Friday 7th July to Sunday 9th July. As with all events, as soon as we can confirm details of times and guest DJs we will post further information. KOKO✊
