We traveled to Kraków with Ryanair, booking our outbound flight from Leeds Bradford to Kraków. For our return, we flew from Gdańsk back to Leeds Bradford, selecting these routes because they were the most affordable option. For our stay, we reserved a compact apartment in Kraków’s Podgórze district through Booking.com
Located just across the river from the Old Town, Podgórze is an emerging neighborhood undergoing a lot of redevelopment. Our apartment was just a 20–30 minute walk from the nearest shopping center, and there is a beautiful riverside nearby—ideal for leisurely strolls. The area is also home to the Schindler Factory, and with its mix of supermarkets, trams, shops, and malls all close by, it proved to be a perfect, convenient base for our trip.
We prefer staying in apartments for the flexibility it offers, especially on days when we want to slow down and relax. Having access to a washing machine, the option to cook our own meals or order takeout made everything easier. The apartment was well-equipped and comfortable, complete with a small balcony overlooking the bustling street below. Within a 5- to 10-minute walk, we could reach plenty of small restaurants, a shop and supermarket were just five minutes away, and the nearest tram stop—also five minutes on foot—made getting around effortless.
To navigate the city, we used the Travel App Jakdojade, which helped us easily check tram, bus, and train times, as well as purchase tickets. It was straightforward—you simply top up your wallet and pay directly through the app. We found it incredibly convenient, user-friendly, and affordable.
We spent a week in total, splitting our time between sightseeing and relaxing, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The food was excellent everywhere we went. Although the weather was a bit cooler than ideal, we’re used to it and had a fantastic trip regardless.
Please note, walking times may be shorter for many, as I tend to walk at a slower pace.
