It is time for change.
Young men feel the constant pressure to appear ok, to suppress emotion in order to conform to societal expectations, to say, “I am ok” when in reality we may be anything but. Through the years we have reinforced a notion that to talk openly about difficulties is weak, so much so that the mental health of younger men is in crisis.
This video depicts the difficulties men may face, and silence they choose instead of feeling open to talk.
We aim to change this, to change how young men view themselves, their mental health and those around them. To start conversations, equipping them with the confidence to talk and to get help. The Grieving Pint is aspiring to provide a space and content through various mediums, to encourage men and their peers to be open about mental health, along with promoting collective and responsible drinking.
We aim to end the silent struggle of men in our society and give them the confidence to start .
'The Grieving Pint would like to thank Mood Films for their inspirational work and collaboration on this project, along with all the individuals who were involved with this production. In particular, Louis Jones who used his own experiences surrounding mental health, and passion for filmmaking to shed a light on such a key societal issue. Growing up, Louis experienced severe bullying leading to years of battling low self-esteem, social anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. In
order to emphasise the critical need for change Louis self-funded this short film, while launching Mood Films, a company keen to transform ideas from good causes into cinematic and compelling video content. Please, if you have a moment visit their page and read their motivation behind the production and their work.'
