Ecrubox Digital is proud to announce its partnership with Clevelli Bay, founded by Charlie Sefton, who successfully secured a Start Up Loan from the British Business Bank to bring her eco-friendly cleaning brand to life. Over the course of a year, Ecrubox worked closely with Charlie, recognising the authenticity of her founder story and using their Soul of Brand method to develop the brand’s creative potential.

Clevelli Bay tackles the eco-cleaning market with innovative refills and a unique, ocean-inspired design. The product, made from 100% Prevented Ocean Plastic, features multi-use bottles and environmentally friendly packaging, delivering measurable green credentials. This complements Ecrubox’s wider e-commerce client portfolio, including Skydiamond, Co-op Mobile & Energy, and Reluxe, all leaders in sustainability.

Yesterday afternoon, our talented Creative Director, Lucy, led the team through an insightful “On Camera” session! 🎥

With years of experience in front of the camera—from TV shows and live TV selling to Instagram Lives—Lucy has mastered the art of capturing content that feels both authentic and professional.

Given that so much of our work and meetings are held online, it’s crucial for us to refine our delivery skills, not just for our clients but also for effective remote collaboration.

We’re still loving YuLife over here at Ecrubox, even more so now the sun is shining ☀️ We have been getting into the Olympic spirit and July has seen a month of challenges:

🏃🏻‍♀️ Master of Movement - YuLife’s annual walking challenge, giving us all individual step goals for the month.
👟 Step-athlon - The aim is to complete two short strolls, two brisk walks, 2 long walks and walk 50k steps in 10 days.
🥄 Egg and Spoon Race - A throwback to school sports days! This one consisted of completing workouts, meditation and other wellbeing activities, all included on the app.

Oh and we also have double and triple points days meaning we can earn even extra YuCoin ⚡ We’ve still got more challenges to come in August and the team are loving it!

Brands and sponsors have long been a part of the Olympic Games. Today in Paris, their teams will be looking forward to a spectacle perhaps less concerned with the logistical barriers of previous ceremonies. Whilst the world is certainly not a place lacking troubles, we remember the uncertainty and limitations Covid-19 brought to Tokyo and the political storms of the previous Winter Olympics.

With the athletes themselves the absolute stars of the Games, sponsors play a role in the funding, infrastructure, technology, and environment in which the Olympics play out, both in Paris and across the world. Airbnb have backed the organisation since 2019 for example, with an obvious but somewhat contentious role in accommodating the massive influx of visitors. It will be interesting to see how they balance their involvement against rising European frustrations. Their listing on the official Olympic Games website is keen to point out how they provide “economically empowering, socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable” wins.

Less contentious logos might be those of Orange, Omega (official timekeeper) and Panasonic. The latter providing digital audio/video equipment to the stadium itself. The global audience will be learning more about the French brands taking part in the circus, including Carrefour, Groupe BPCE and Sanofi. Decathlon, the world’s largest sporting goods store, will be reminding us of their French roots, despite now being a global name with more than 2000 stores worldwide. Founded by Michel Leclercq in 1976, Decathlon started with a store in Lille, France.

Keen to show their product more than their name perhaps, Airweave (Japanese mattress innovator) might be one to look out for on social media. The exploits of participants in the Olympic Village always capture a wry smile and Tom Daley (leading Team GB down the River Seine with Helen Glover this afternoon) has already been posting about the stability of his bed. Whilst as the longest standing partner, it’s Coca-Cola who will be most likely to feature the actual logos of the games on their worldwide products.

A quick poll in the office sees our team hyped up for the Olympics in Paris with the gymnastics, diving, athletics and weightlifting most in demand for screentime at HQ and Competition climbing the most highly anticipated for “must watch” status.

Each month, we dedicate a morning to gather in the playroom for a collaborative session. During this time, we discuss each client, review what's going well and identify necessary changes.

Today's theme was "Pivot or Adapt." We explored iconic brand pivots, from McDonald's to Old Spice, to spark creativity before brainstorming potential pivots for our clients.

We categorised these ideas into small adaptations that can be implemented soon, and significant brand pivots, assuming no budget constraints.
We highly value these sessions as they allow us to step away from our daily strategies and think more creatively.

The "Netflix Effect" : Luxury Ecommerce Insight 🎬

At Ecrubox HQ, the virtual water-cooler often indulges in a debate about last nights streaming. Disney, Max and Apple are favourites but so many more of us ALSO have Netflix. Explore how the lifestyle and luxury e-commerce brands we work with learn from Netflix's battle plan for attention and conversion:

Key Insights:

1. Personalisation is King 👑 YAWN, we know but it’s not just a fad, it’s the future of commerce. Netflix uses advanced algorithms and your feedback to tailor content to individual tastes. Luxury brands can do the same on a small but meaningful level with personalised quizzes and AI-driven recommendations to enhance shopping experiences. The impact of our work with a famous haircare brand in the realm of personalised, quiz-based recommendations has seen incredible ROI. Just as on Netflix, sometimes choice overwhelms, even if you’re a fan of the platform already.

2. Seamless Omnichannel Experience 🌐 Netflix ensures a consistent viewing experience across all devices. Luxury brands must integrate online and offline experiences to meet consumer expectations and that mix is only rising in importance. Some of our start-ups are now taking to the High Street for the first time (and doing exceedingly well) but the vibe, storytelling and experience MUST exist equally and recognisably no matter if you’re clicking or walking into these stores.

3. Bold Content and Storytelling 🎥 Netflix isn't afraid of controversy, sparking debates with their in-house content. So much so that of the giants in streaming, they might be now considered the most likely to split an audience right down the middle. “Love it or hate it” is a fine mission statement. Luxury brands must also address significant topics where their values align. Universal approval is simply not as strong as stating a case and engaging deeply.

4. Resilience in Tough Times 💪 Just as a comforting movie offers stability, luxury items provide a sense of security and pleasure during uncertain times. The cost of excellence in e-commerce is nevertheless a little complex. Despite the lower costs to develop core systems, consumer expectations for the online shopping experience have increased. This includes high-quality visuals, virtual try-ons, augmented reality (AR) features, and exceptional customer service. We need emotional resonance, no matter the quality of the production.

5. Exclusivity 🗝️ "Stranger Things," and "The Crown" helped Netflix to retain subscribers by offering exclusive, must-see shows that couldn't be found elsewhere. The luxury e-commerce world needs to think about this. There are decisions to be made about selling direct and working with Amazon but in most cases luxury thrives when your website remains the SOLE destination for certain editions.

Why Startups Struggle to Netflix Themselves:

* Limited Resources: Lack of data and tools hampers personalisation. It's not your focus yet.
* Psychological Insight: Understanding consumer behaviour is crucial but challenging. You're still learning.
* Brand Identity: Building a strong identity takes time and expertise.It's a rare skill.

Wellbeing at work is extremely important to us here at Ecrubox, and that is why we introduced YuLife 🧡

In May, we completed 478 challenges (with Sudoku being the most popular) on the YuLife app. Our team walked the length of 934 football fields and the equivalent of 2 marathons!

We are big advocates for going outside and getting our steps in, embracing the fresh air and taking breaks. YuLife has encouraged the team to do just that, whilst also being rewarded with vouchers from our favourite retailers. More steps = more YuCoin 👀

PPC Tips Only the Pros Know!

1. Branded Campaigns

Branded campaigns help protect against awareness bleed much more so today than historically. As AI increases, having established branded campaigns is vital as even those brands who are not purposefully positioning themselves against our client can show if Google suddenly determines relevance. Securing the top spot here is therefore key, and should be the minimum focus of anyone running ads in 2024.

2. Shopping over Performance Max

Shopping only runs in the shopping feed which means 100% of the budget is of course spent on shopping. Despite getting less traffic you tend to see better conversion rates and ROAS. It sounds simple but the confusion over these options leaves regret down the line, even on small scale spends.

3. Youtube Campaigns.

We run multiple YouTube campaigns with slightly different objectives and see very strong results. Traffic focused YouTube Campaigns have achieved the lowest CPC of any awareness campaigns in 2024, although we have not yet seen how this transfers to sales we know the signals are on our side.

Marketing & Development Days, Quarter 1 ✔️

This week marked the beginning of our Quarter 1 Marketing & Development Days at Ecrubox. On Tuesday, we hosted Development Day, where the team gathered to discuss recent challenges and learn from each other’s experiences. This session was particularly insightful, helping us refine our approach to better serve our clients.
The evening featured a joint dinner with the Marketing team at Aurora in Worcester, an excellent choice that we’d happily recommend.

Wednesday was all about Marketing Day. We took a break from our screens to share knowledge and insights, revisiting the fundamental strategies that drive our passion for marketing. It was a valuable opportunity for the team to realign and refresh our understanding of effective strategies. We also enjoyed a light-hearted egg hunt with the Development team, a reminder of the importance of teamwork and camaraderie at Ecrubox. These two days were not just productive but also underscored the importance of collaboration and shared learning in our work.

Carpe Diem Day - Seize the day!

Every quarter we give the team an extra day annual leave to do something that brings them happiness. They get given 24 hours notice and the only rule is to not work.

We enjoyed gym sessions, long walks, meal prepping, cuddles with the dog, camping & ticking off the jobs we've been putting off for too long.

A spontaneous day off to embrace the moment.
