Raw is a BBC platform which hosts content created by young people from working class communities. Our main site is our YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdXuOP-zn9uIuRcdImJlMsg
All the films on BBC Raw’s YouTube Channel are made by socially and racially diverse young people who; film, direct and edit using their own smartphones, filming equipment and online edit software. The conte
nt of their films is based on their own ideas, stories and issues from their life experience – these are subjects that matter to them! The films we showcase on Raw’s YouTube Channel and social media sites are 100 per cent the views, voice, and vision of the young film makers. Raw’s page and Twitter Account are run by the BBC’s central team and help promote the short films made by this diverse group of new young working class talent. The BBC runs the three platforms that showcase the films and provides support and encouragement to help mentor the young people through the process of film making and digital marketing. In essence Raw acts as an incubator for a diverse group of young people who want to develop into filmmakers/ content creators for the BBC and wider media industry. Our intention is to help enable more young people from working class backgrounds to build successful careers in the digital and media creative industries.
