Ray Alexander returns to composition and recording with a new single, 'Consciousness'. His intention was to go back to painting after the release of his second solo studio album, 'No Dice', in March of this year. However, due largely to positive feedback from listeners, Ray re-opened his music studio to collaborate with Scottish actor and singer Trish Mullin. Trish has performed in several Glasgow bands over the years. She has also played a part in editing much of Ray's work. 'Consciousness' was inspired by the LaMDA AI chatbot that fooled many into believing a proto-sentient algorithm had emerged. The concept of a fusion between humans and technology to create a Deus ex Machina resolution was clear, and so the soundscape evolved. Using an array of virtual analogue synthesizers, bleeding-edge granular synthesis, and the dynamic vocals of Trish Mullin, Ray has produced an incredibly atmospheric composition. A second collaborative release is due later this year. 'Consciousness' is available on all good digital platforms from 29 July 2022.
