Ramalam in the bubblin’ Dublin Castle, Camden last nite. Me and SuperSonic Simon surely did enjoy good vibes in the course of niceing up the dancefloor. But, rumpapapum pum… I’m knackered. Yes Rihanna. Man Down. Gonna enjoy me a nice slow Sunday. Peace out.

Sad to say… Last Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons for the foreseeable future… in The Dublin Castle natch care of Bug Bear natch natch.

Sat 2nd Nov 2024

Pussycat and the Dirty Johnsons – this band reached legendary status some time ago now, the trio with the biggest trash punk and roll reputation on the block…and we’re chastened to hear this will be their last live outing for the foreseeable future, as members of the band require rest and recuperation following the travails of long nights on the road kicking more ass than it’s generally accepted is good for your ‘elf!

Everything crossed here for a return to the stage for PC&TDJs as soon as is physically possible. Go! white coated health professional types! Save our Dirty Rock and Roll! We need the cranked up punk grunge-abilly mayhem of Dirty Jake and Puss’s guitars, the skittering riddims and bombastic beat of drummer Ant, and the fierce feline yelp and howl of the righteous anger of Puss on vox, not to mention her high energy physical expression, and fearless forays into the crowd. And all in the Mojo riddled environs of The Dublin Castle back room. Always a brilliant night out…

AlterModerns – Originally from Brazil, AlterModerns are a Bristol-based boy/gal duo who have never been afraid to wear their influences on their musical sleeves, combining their love of The Sonics, Love and Bo Diddley
with a badge of honour.

The SinicTones - Psycho Surf Noir - Bristol-based power trio with fuzz-riffed guitars, driving ear-candy bass lines, catchy choruses and a SEDUCTIVE live performance. Note capitals! As originators of ‘Psycho Surf Noir’ it’s all about…”frantic surf drums with classic spy beat guitar riffs and Film Noir, B-Movie, Femme Fatale and KINK vocal themes.“

The Go Go Cult – ‘Turn on. Tune in. Give in’!! Taking garbage n trash informed schlock rock to fabulous new lows, as seen recently on sleaze splattered stages alongside the likes of King Salami, King Kurt and Queen Lene Lovich.

We Got Killers spin exotica, punk and rock and roll then spin off into sassy soul, deviant disco and righteous rave.

Tonite The Dublin Castle Blatoidea Jawless Fantazmaz RATS NEST

Blatoidea – premier exponents of 1980s style punk rock from the Blitz/GBH school of misrule are back in the Dublin Castle! And they’ve curated a sensational night of punk smarts for us…

“Blatoidea is very proud to present the release of their 4th studio album “Outbreak” out on Katabomb Records with a Great Punk Rock launch Party at the one and only Dublin Castle in Camden Town!! With some quality bands as special guests….

Jawless – imagine Amyl and the Sniffers got conscripted into a hardcore punk unit of military precision. That attacking monster is Jawless. Female to the fore punk glory.

Fantazmaz – female fronted again. Brilliant metal informed righteous thrash with nigh on progressive touches. Rock hard.

Rats Nest – displaying some subtle pop punk elements, but lots of ratty bile and tood so it never gets too sweet to digest. Great ramalama.

Love me a portentous tale set to maverick music. Like Can’s early outtake concerning an old woman being killed by an octopus whilst on holiday with her nearest and dearest. The tale takes a more sinister turn still when the family automobile gets stolen during an autobahn coffee break. And the moral is… I dunno. Beware moribundity and over excited molluscs?

Whatevs… What’s your favourite weird tale set to music? And don’t say Mary’s Boy Child by Boney M. Although Rasputin is cool.

The Dublin Castle tonight

THE WHEELGRINDERS Hot Rockabilly trio from Canada - have been grinding out their own brand of traditional roots Rockabilly at hep joints near and far since 2016. With two albums recorded, multiple tours in Canada and in Europe and their songs spun on rockabilly radio stations around the world Greg – Guitar/Vocals Caroline –Upright Bass Stuart – Drums.

Remember them old Teds Vs Punks battles down the Kings Rd? C’mon Everybody! A thing of the distant past. Two great local punk bands support The Wheelgrinders tonite...

Dogs**te- sussed and sassy Carmel Reynolds AKA Tiddles upfront and proper crash bang wallop punk rock behind her with some pithy pop choruses and an admirable agility to play joyful ska once some skanking is required. Ren from Dead Silence has now joined the band at the drum kit, with former drummer Chris Liberator now on guitar as it happens, doyenne of bangin’techno raves for nigh on 35 years! But it’s all about the punk rock beats and breaks 2nite so Get On One.

And... WokeratiParty are a political mess on the right side of history and thank god on the wrong side of rock n roll ... which is actually the right side. Roll up Roll up the Punk Rock circus is coming to town. The Punk Rock mistresses are here to put on a show of delectable finess of political dischord ready to cuddle even the hardest of hearts. Come and get cancelled."

The Groovy Arts Club Band – seasoned garage thru punk and rnb Rockers with some major players in the ranks including Eddie outta The Vi*****rs powering the big beat at the back. Great stuff, with an active artistic penchant as reflected in the handle. It’s not only Rock and Roll actually Mick .

The Frauds- Polished and accomplished female fronted rock pop, sounding and looking good. Excellently executed, hooky tunes. The Bangles meeting Justice?! Let’s go with that.

Mel & Marcel – Boho pop duo playing rootsy beatnik gear. Fab gear indeed.

Bamboo Powders - enigmatic psychedelic troubadour par excellence.

Never Mind The Glastonbollocks…

Three very different but equally high quality young bands for your pleasure this evening in The Dublin Castle

Jackals Music – high energy supercharged pop-neo soul concoction with a funky, syncopated feel that makes for a proper party vibe replete with dancing. We liked this band so much we put them on a Dublin Castle residency last year, and it’s wonderful to welcome them back, after what we know has been a traumatic few months for them. The healing power of their excellent music is not to be underestimated…effortless, high energy infectious grooves, impressive songcraft and great individual performances . Superb.

The Nightfalls – Groovy fuzz driven garage rock, shades of late 60’s U.S Nuggets but also your more flamboyant, British psych pop…great stuff.

Idyllic– Anthemic indie fare played with Scally pop panache. Formed in Liverpool in 2022, Idyllic have played over 50 live shows and have released three singles which are available on Spotify and Apple Music.

DJs We Got Killers– pumping up the dancefloor til late. All Killer, No Filler.

Free from 11pm after the bands, but use this link and get along at 7.45pm for maximum satisfaction.

At 10pm tonight I’m doing me regular ‘Dead On 365’ iteration of TALES OF The Dublin Castle on 365 Radio.co

Saluting the recently brown breaded in the name of entertainment. They’re all in there. The Good and The Gorn of recent days…

But this cove went and popped off today and I’ve already prerecorded the fu**er. Bum.

When I bought this album marked down due to lack of interest in Revolver, Brizzle in 1979 I had no idea just how many musical rabbit holes it’s inspirational chutzpah would have me scurrying into after The Good S**t. From the JBs to Charles Mingus, Lydia Lunch (as inimitably featured here) to Irving Berlin.

Rest easy Sax Maniac.

Another mentalist weekend of Git Down boombastic bananas down the ol’ bubblin’ Dublin Castle, Camden on the We Got Killers watch.

What a joy it is to entertain , educate and inform that very special dance floor. From Elvis to S ‘Express and all killer diller points in between.

However I forgot to play ELO. What a classy AOR dance pop faux pas. So here’s the best version of this particular song. And a classic TOTP performance n all. Better than The Beatles, better than the Chuck Berry original. So Fight me.

Absolutely banging on The Dublin Castle dancefloor tonite. It always is. What a joy to be able to go from The Prodigy to Elvis via Earth Wind and Fire etc and always have the room full and bouncing from start to finish.

The likes of Fede Le Grande and Chemical Bros may have been the most kicking selections, but tune of the night was undoubtedly this. Rest in peace Clarence Frogman Henry. You’ve given me immeasurable joy.

Waterflower – Is the alter-ego of multimedia artist Sabine Moore. Drawing influences from nature, science and the local history in Art Nouveau, Waterflower creates eco-futuristic avant pop. This is highlighted with their work with plants both as a composition tool and a “living” midi keyboard....
