QUESTIONS PLEASE!

We've got an amazing interview lined up with Zara Rutherford, the youngest woman to fly solo around the world. At just 19, she completed her five-month journey last week. She flew through typhoons and thunderstorms, landed in some of the world's busiest airports (including JFK in New York) and had to do a major detour to avoid North Korean airspace. In total she clocked up:

🌎 260 flying hours
✈️ 69 stops
🌎 41 countries
✈️ 5 continents
🌎 32,000 miles

We want readers' questions for Zara! Send them to hello[at]kookiemagazine.com by next Tuesday 1st February for the chance to be included in the next issue of the magazine!

Exciting news!

Our small business (Missprint Media) is a nominee in The Independent Awards announced today, which is so exciting and brilliant... and we need your vote. 😉

The Independent Awards celebrate small business in the UK and all the originality, creativity and positivity they represent.

Can we ask you to vote — and then share this link (perhaps with a few words why people should vote for us) with your friends, family, work colleagues, people you meet on the bus... ! Being a nominee is fantastic recognition of our magazine and an amazing way to spread the word about Kookie and we'd LOVE to make it to the finals. 🤞

We're SO excited about the interview we have lined up for the next issue!

Meet environmental magician Megan Swann Magic, the youngest ever President of The Magic Circle — and the very first woman to hold the title! In fact, until 1991 women couldn't even join the Circle, let alone be president. Go Megan!

While The Magic Circle is built on one rule — members can *never* reveal the secret of their tricks — we're sure Megan will have lots of great insights and ideas to share with our readers.

So we need QUESTIONS! Did Megan always want to be a magician? What was her first magic trick? Who does she admire? How long does it take to learn a really tricky trick? Has anything ever gone really wrong?!

Send your questions to [email protected] by THIS FRIDAY (22nd October) to be included in our next issue.

SHOUT OUT FOR QUESTIONS!
Shanequa Paris is the newest reporter on the BBC Newsround team, having joined during lockdown in 2020. We're so excited that she'll be answering readers' questions for our next issue (and we need your help).

BBC Newsround was one of the world's first television news magazines aimed specifically at kids and has run continuously since 1972. Today the Newsround website attracts more than a million visitors a week and around 750,000 children watch the bulletin every day.

This is your smart cookie's chance to get the insider lowdown on life as a BBC presenter. What's it like to work at Newsround? How did Shanequa get the job? Who would she most like to interview? Ask away — anything and everything!

We can't wait to read your questions! Please send them to us by MONDAY 12th JULY ([email protected]). We'll choose a selection to put to Shanequa in the interview, which will be published (along with the reader's photo) in the September issue.

💬 SHOUT OUT FOR QUESTIONS! 💬

Meet Alice Morrison, adventurer, explorer, and our next Kookie interview!

Alice has been described as an ‘Indiana Jones for girls’. She travels to the furthest places on Earth and walks through its toughest habitats to bear witness to what is happening to the planet as our climate and society change.

She's cycled from Cairo to Cape Town, run the Marathon Des Sables (six marathons across the Sahara in six days) and trekked from the Atlas Mountain to the Atlantic Ocean. Alice has filmed documentaries for the BBC and completed the Everest Trail Race ultra marathon. In 2019, she became the first woman to walk the Draa River in Morocco. All this and a whole lot more!

Kookie readers have the chance to interview Alice for our next issue. 😀

Send your questions to [email protected] by 15th APRIL for a chance to be included in the next issue.

🌊 SHOUT OUT FOR QUESTIONS! 🌊
We're thrilled to be interviewing Lucy Hughes, the winner of the James.Dyson Foundation International Award for her invention of Marinatex, a compostable bioplastic made from organic fish waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. Through diving and marine conservation, Lucy got to see first-hand the negative impact that plastic pollution has had on marine environments and this has been one of the main motivators behind her work as a designer. Lucy is a brilliant example of an inspirational young woman finding practical solutions to the environmental challenges which face us today. 🌍
Every interview in Kookie is reader-led, so we're asking for questions. How did she do it? What inspired her? What is her vision for the future? What's her favourite animal? Ask away! This is a great opportunity to talk about positive ways to make a change in the world so we want to hear what our readers think!
Send us your questions by WEDNESDAY 3rd FEBRUARY. This is a great chance for young readers to see their name, question and photo in the next issue of the magazine (out in March)! Email us: [email protected]
