Mud is an independent publishing house presenting exclusively poetry. Mud aims to challenge perceptions of poetry as a ‘boring’ and purely academic art form by celebrating the work of a vivacious variety of poets and poetic styles. Mud aims to lift the lid on the secret that is the contemporary poetry scene. We produce anthologies because our aim is to lift up as many people as possible, to give t

he public a wider sample of what is out there! Our passions are not just confined to poetry! Mud Press wants it’s anthologies to be beautiful objects in of themselves. Objects that make you want to ‘rub yer face on it!’ And it’s for this reason that we want to work with as many illustrators and graphic designers as we do poets! Mud is equally for anyone that said ‘art can’t’ or ‘poetry can’t’ and for the people who knew it could all along. Mud is about building a community of artists, promoting their events and skills, creating a tribe. It’s a creative hub, a networking pool, a rebellion against the notion that ‘poetry is dead.’

The books are a punchy hybrid. Part anthology, part magazine, part portfolio; a physical representation of the spirit of collaboration that made them happen.
