Amaria tops our Week 8 Chart with her stunning EP “All for You”. She hails from Tampa and this EP follows her 2020 self written and produced “Morning” (when she was still in her teens ).
A number of tracks stand out on her latest release with our favourite being the duet with moonchild’s leading lady Amber Navran. A bright future beckons we think.

Elsewhere our top weekly 30 is littered with quality (including 10 new entries) and we’ve created playlists on Spotify https://spoti.fi/3BnBTmY and Amazon although you will need to request access to the link going forward for immediate access. https://amzn.to/44Uamaq

There is something majestic about Avery Sunshine. Perhaps then in this week of all things Coronation it’s fitting that this regal artist that stands out amongst her peers, should rise to the pinnacle of the British Soul Chart with her latest single W8. The thing our panel loves about Avery, apart from her wonderful stage presence and artistry in abundance, it’s the song writing which is potentially most understated. The message of this song reminds us of the message of Queen Erykah’s iconic Bag Lady. The communique to wait could not be better timed in a fast evolving world where peace, quiet and stillness are at a premium. Stunning track and well worthy of its coveted No1 status, a fortnight after its release.

The Top 10 is typically high in quality. Angie Stone returns with a couple of singles ahead of her next album Love Language slated for 19th May. Song writing of the highest calibre on The Gym feat Musiq Soulchild. Two former No1s Melonyx and Lina Nikol slip down a few places but retain their top 10 status. Keep an eye on the highest new entry Amaria who teams up to great affect with Amber Navran of Moonchild infamy. Vocals, vibes and subtle horns make this one to watch. Reel Soul are back with another quality remix and are the second highest new entry. Mentions for Helen Bruner and Terry Jones for breaking into the top 10 with their track “I can’t call it” a victory for real soul.

Don’t shy away from the rest of the chart with 13 new entries and some fantastic tunes which will serve your personal playlist well. Special mention to Kek’ Star for the unusual feat of two remixes in the Top 30 on George Duke and Kem respectively.

To the artists and producers in the Top 30, all acknowledgement has to be good and warmly received for a genre that doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. For those not quite in the Top 30. it’s never been more difficult for our Panel to select 30 songs on a weekly basis with seemingly hundreds or tracks released every month. We acknowledge there are many great tracks not included.

You can find the British Soul Chart - Top 30 Countdown on Amazon https://amzn.to/3NLsDQZ or Spotify https://spoti.fi/42onCCg.for uninterrupted listening that you can download, stream pause and listen to as part of monthly subscription. Elsewhere you can also find us on mixcloud https://bit.ly/3B0ZdGZ.

If you like what hear, do support the artists if you can and consider downloads from sites such as bandcamp.

Brand New No 1, the third in this 5 week old Chart. Bulgarian songstress Lina Nikol and Boyan topping the chart with their sublime “Tell me is it worth it” from the EP “A Mood called you“.

6 new entries and how good is it to have Pete Rock back on a remix via Lady Wray’s Joy and Pain.

A new number one for the British Soul Chart finally eclipsing Adi Oasis’s landmark and how refreshing that it’s an artist from the British Isles, whose vocal ability has never been in question. Congrats 👏🏾 to for her smash “finally over you”. This is the second release from her forthcoming EP “My Love Story” which is scheduled for release 7th April 2023. In today’s market both vocals and production have to be on point and on the basis of the first two this could be a landmark release for the Brit with the undeniable vocals. We wish her well and continue to salivate at the prospect of more of the same ❤️.

Zo & Tall Black Guy marginally miss out on top spot despite a really well received Deluxe re-release of the iconic Abstractions which we’re told from the big man himself (Zo) is also available on sought after vinyl. A typically eclectic release which crosses genres and appeals to all of the nuances within.

Mention to rising star for managing to have a single (If you know you know) and the (Homegirl pack) of her 2022 album “The Hurtbook”, this time with heavy hitters and on assists. One to watch we think.

Spring continues to yield a multitude of new music releases making it a tough marketplace (depending on which way you look at it) for DJs to navigate. Such is the abundance of new music, quality songs are being underplayed as DJs try to keep up on new releases. Getting the balance between playing new music and quality music has never been tougher, we observe.

Notable new releases from the legendary with his remix of Love on You, not to mention a big release from that has captured the imagination of many. We’ve been admirers of Baltimore native for more than a minute. She has released a new album - “Music For Your Soul.

Stream to your hearts content via the big streaming platforms without interruption On Spotify https://spoti.fi/3KIluiH or Amazon https://amzn.to/3nRVeJD

Shows are also uploaded on mixcloud under simon Soulgigs and are rotated on several UK Stationa which we’ll be talking more about in weeks to come.

Welcome to the most trending Soul & RnB songs for October 2022.

Babyface takes top spot with his duet with Ella Mai. Unusually this song was released months ago and featured highly in a previous list. However it seems that the track experienced something of a Renaissance following commercial exposure.

Elsewhere this is a more diverse trending list than ever with obscure cuts from groups such as Jack Moves and Nuybian Twist alongside traditional tracks of high calibre from the likes of Kirby and Adi Oasis.

A Killer release from Jazmine Sullivan sits perfectly alongside the like of The Isley Brothers and Jeremih.

One observation is that the deluxe album is back and in full swing with a multitude of albums being rereleased after initial release with remixes, instrumentals and bonus tracks.

As usual you can enjoy this music for free and uninterrupted via our Spotify >>> https://spoti.fi/3WEy9qL and Apple playlists https://apple.co/3DPRJaH.

Thank you for listening, liking or sharing or just doing what many do by listening without admitting you like what you hear. Either way, we appreciate your footprint.

Soul Brit Trending represents a look at Soul and RnB songs trending in the UK for the month.

On this months list the trio from North Carolina consisting of J. Vito, Tony Lelo, and 2E, from the trio formerly known as The Hamiltones, and now the Ton3s top our list. The group started as background vocalists for Grammy winning soul singer Anthony Hamilton. The album has spawned several tracks which are on trend on UK radio.

Elsewhere US favourite Blue Soul Ten narrowly missed out on the top spot following cross genre acclaim of his set This is Worth it.

On the homegrown front talent continues to emerge with Ego Ella May bagging two spots and Kadeem Tyrell receiving a lot of love on his debut album - As Time Goes By.

So much more to admire here from top to bottom and the list is available via Spotify and ITunes playlist and streaming format across ten partnering radio stations across the UK.

Longtime SoulTracks favorite KEA is, at her core, a storyteller. And that may be because the talented singer and songwriter has lived quite a personal story. Her own search for love and validation when she was younger led her into a series of abusive relationships and challenging years. "I didn't ha...
