Before you join in trending the fake news that Nigerians with Naija passports are banned from Seychelles, fact check o! We are NOT banned. The only people banned are Kosovans and that is because the Seychelles does not recognise the country.

You may have heard Joy’s story on this street. How she left an abusive husband with her two young kids for America. Living as undocumented immigrants for a long time. Her husband trying to get her deported. Her children getting admissions into almost all the Ivy League colleges in America…

Well! I have the pleasure of having all three ladies live! I shall be talking to the young ladies and hearing their stories from their own mouths.

Join us today at 7pm with Olabisi.

The ‘Trunk box’. If your parents schooled in Britain right up to the 70s before coming back home, they would quite likely, have come back with this. My Mum came with the Silver one. For whatever reason, my father did not come back with one. Or maybe he did and I just can’t remember? Ah… I think he did. In black? Can’t remember sha. But because we used to go through my mother’s own a lot, I remember hers. Her trunk box was a treasure trove of her life in Britains.

I have actually been looking for one to use as a decorative and practical addition to my bedroom.

Kids should NEVER be used as weapons! NEVER! More especially when the kid is dead. I thought it was only Nigerians that use kids as weapons. Seems I was wrong.

I don’t care what happened between Anita and ‘Olomolorioko’ - Davido. I don’t care really. I did not epp dem to enjoy the gbenshing.

But as a mother, I care that she has brought Ifeanyi into this fray. I don’t even care if she has a go at Chioma - not fair, yes, but Chioma is there and refuses to leave so, she must be prepared for messes like this.

But using a child as a weapon? ESPECIALLY a dead child? Beyond low. Yes! You have to respect that his child is dead and not involve him!

I have a lunch date today and he told me to choose where I would like us to go. I remembered a lovely place on V.I that an ex had taken me to. So, I sent a message to my ex, asking for the name of the place. He told me the name of the place and added

DO NOT GO THERE WITH ANY MAN. IT IS OUR PRIVATE PLACE!!!

Oh my! That was sooo cute. This ex, I would date him again in a heartbeat. He is one of the kindest, most considerate people I know. He holds a dear place in my heart, and he and I still have a warm friendship till date.

So! Is there an ex in your life (boyfriend… girlfriend… husband… wife…) that you enjoyed the time together and would give another go if you had the chance?

Let’s talk about great exs tonight at 7pm with Olabisi. On my Facebook wall.

My mother was the most funny woman I knew then. Funny in a hahahehe way o. Not funny in a ‘kilon se eleyi’ way. There was no dull moment around her.

Only thing was that I did not find her funny then. I found her extremely embarrassing.

I had just finished Uni and wanted to wear waist beads so, I asked my maternal grandmother, Maami to get me some. She did and I wore them without telling my mother.

One day, I was having a shower when my mother came in to the bathroom to wash her hands. She had just finished using the loo which was next door, the upstairs loo had no wash hand basin there so, we had to wash our hands in the bathroom. As mother of the house, she no dey knock. She entered any gadem room in the house as she liked. So, she came to the bathroom to wash her hands. I was having my shower. We did not use shower curtains in those days. She saw my ‘ileke idi’. I thought she was going to raise hell.

She did not.

She just cackled like those winches in badly acted Yoruba films and clapped her hands.

Ehnnnn? Se awon boifri e ni won so fun e wipe ko lo ma wo ileke idi? Ehnnn? Is it your boyfriend that told you to wear waist beads?

More cackling.

Ma worry. Ko ni si eni to ma ko won ki won to ja ni Ibadi e nigba to ba lo mo won ni Irun oko. Don’t worry. No one will teach them how to forcibly break them from your waist when they entangle with their p***c hair.

More cackling.

She kept cackling as she washed her hands and left the bafroom.

Do you have embarrassing parents? Would you like to share funny anecdotes about them? Join me and Solabomi Akintonde Garba and Abiodun Adegboye
tonight, at 7pm as we recall cringe worthy moments of our mothers and fathers.

Yoruba Tennis Club Road, at Onikan is a street where specific candies are sold. No matter who the seller is, they always taste the same. I love them and sometimes buy them as treats for my nieces and nephews (and me). I also love giving visiting friends to Naija when they are going back home, as a send off gift. So, I got some for Mya Aj’s lovely girls. I hope they love them and that it brings some affection for Naija to them.

Chookchook… coconut… milky chinchin… sugary chinchin…candies peanuts … etc… Next time you find yourself at Onikan, from King George V to Yoruba Tennis Club Road to Obalende Bridge, you will see a handful of these sellers. One is in front of the Ghana High on McCarthy Street.

Nollywood has demonised matches between parents. The story line is usually like this - rich parents match their children. One of the children falls in love with a poor person’s child. Rich parents kick against it and make life miserable for the poor person’s child.

But really, what is wrong in your parents who know you very well and wanting the best for you, matching you with someone from a similar background to yours? A lot of marriages fail because the two come from disparate backgrounds. And if this can be avoided, why not?

Please DM me if you are happily married and was matched by your parents. This is for a project. Cheers.

11/06/2023

I remember when I used to be spirikoko and was close to Pastor Tunde Oke. He told me of the need to not just pray to God for things but to add action to the prayers. Faith without works is what? Dead.

There was a single lady then who was believing God for her husband. She would come to Pastor Tunde and he would pray for and with her. He carried that burden so much that he would even fast for and with her. This had been going on for years with no results. So, one day, he asked her what her typical day or week was.

She said

I go to work, Pastor Tunde and I come home straight from work. And he asked … ehen…? What else do you do? I also go to church, Pastor Tunde. Ehen… what else do you do? Nothing else, Pastor Tunde.

You mean I have been wasting my prayers and fasting and care all these years? You have been doing the same thing for years and nothing has changed and you don’t know you should change what you have been doing that has not worked for you? How would the husband and you meet? You think he will come to your living room?

I don’t know how it panned out for her sha.

If you are single and desirous of being happily married, you need to go out! You can’t just sit at home and expect the spouse to waltz into your room.

Go to the places where the kind of person you want to be with, is.

You are probably saying ‘you nko? Are you not single too’? Ehn… I am single too. But I only recently became single o. And you don’t know that I have not met someone but decided not to talk about it here. Plus I met my ex-husband on a dating site. Yes! I know dating sites is a cesspool of oloshi men but you can still meet a good man there.

Anyway, carpe Diem! Seize the day!

I met a ‘japada’ recently - he from America though he had also lived in Britain. We were both reminiscing about Brit food and he said

I could murder some well made cottage pie now.

Guess who ran to get mince and potatoes and gravy?

We don’t have as many varieties of potatoes so, I had to make do with Irish potatoes. I don’t take off the skin of my potatoes for two reasons - more healthy and less work.

How do you make it?

Brown the mince in a small amount of oil - you are not frying it o. You are just getting rid of the blood. Brown it with garlic. Make your gravy. I used Bisto. I added some white pepper in the gravy for a kick. Boil your potatoes. Marsh them with butter. Mix your mince with the gravy mix. Pour into an oven proof container. Put the mash on top. You may add cheese on top too. Bang it in the oven for about 20 mins. You may cover it or not. I like the top to be crisp so, I don’t cover it. Dazol.

You know that thing that IPhone does when you swipe your Home Screen and it brings up memories for you? Lol. This is what my phone showed me, side by side each other.
During marriage and after marriage. Has it been easy? Nope. But challenges are part of life. As long as you are alive, you will shaaa face challenges in life. The day we die is the day the challenges end.
I have been feeling down in the dumps for some days. No specific reason. No regrets about anything I have done, but a lot of regrets about things that I had a chance to do but did not do. I wept today and my friend, Ade told me ‘Sis, you are overwhelmed, that is all’ because I could not put a hand on what was wrong. Then, these pictures came up. I believe it is God telling me that I am doing well.

Face your challenges and conquer them, ehn?

Let me motivate you this Monday morning.

Hold on to your dreams. Work on them and if you are a person of faith, pray too and trust that in God’s time, he will make all things beautiful for you. And if you are not a person of faith, trust that good things will come to you too.

So! My Blue British passport arrived. Yay!!! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻.

The first time I saw the blue British passport was with Tobi’s dad, Dafe. It was the passport he used to go back to Naija as a child. Dafe was born in Britain, you see. His dad came to school in the 60s and had Dafe and his sister in Britain. So, that passport was before Britain joined the EU and changed to the red one. I did not even have a valid visa then. My student visa had expired! I was an overstayer! And here was someone’s Blue passport! Not even the Red one! It was a big deal to me! I was like ‘😭😭😭. God! When!!! Are my ur housegeh?’

Then, Britain left the EU and when Tobi renewed his passport, they gave him the Blue one. Once again, I was jealous. But not as much as when I saw his dad’s one. Because this time, I was also British - a Naturalised one.

I remember when I used to come to London on holidays and my friends who came from poorer homes used to look up to me. Now? Lol. These friends are even richer than me and can afford to go go London as often as they want.

Hold on to your dreams. Work on them. Your time will come. See me now? I’m the proud owner of a Blue British Passport! Yay! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

He knows so many coding languages and will be building my E-commerce website if I need one. You need an affordable app builder? Holler at me!
