Kurdish politician: PKK is fighting on behalf of the regime and Iran and is dragging the Kurds into futile wars
18-06-2023: "The PKK in Syria is fighting on behalf of the Syrian regime, Iran, and other parties, and is pushing the Kurdish people into absurd wars that threaten the Kurdish presence in Syria," according to Kurdish political activist, Mustafa Beko.
He stressed that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) imposes its agendas that are not related to the Syrian reality on the Syrians by force of arms through its branches in Syria, speaking of the population's dissatisfaction with their practices and their interference in regional affairs.
Speaking with Kurdish news outlet BAS News, the activist said, "the PKK is imposing the party's agendas and utopian leftist ideas that have nothing to do with the Kurdish or Syrian reality through the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Asayish, the Revolutionary Youth, and other parties."
He added, "The party also crudely publishes pictures of its leader Abdullah Ocalan, as well as PKK slogans and flags, in the Autonomous Administration's departments, institutions, schools and institutes, and forces employees to participate in demonstrations serving its agenda, which has nothing to do with the Kurdish people and their rights."
Beko continued, "The PKK in Syria acts without the will of the Syrian Kurds, and does not care about their interests or their future, and has caused setbacks for the Syrian Kurds, as it expelled them from their homes and killed their children in conflicts in which the Kurdish people have no interest."
He stressed that "the party in Syria and Iraq is fighting by proxy against the interest of the Kurdish people in the Kurdistan Region, as it is trying to separate the Shingal district (Sinjar) from the Kurdistan Region and annex it to other Iraqi regions at the behest of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Militia, as well as obstructing the Erbil agreement with Baghdad regarding Shingal."
Beko emphasized that "the PKK in Syria is fighting on behalf of the Syrian regime, Iran and other parties, and is plunging the Kurdish people into futile wars that threaten the Kurdish presence in Syria," warning of the consequences of the PKK's destructive policies in Syria, saying: "The Kurdish areas have become almost empty and the Kurds are a minority in Syria." Their environment is the result of the party's destructive policies in the region, its armed conflict with Turkey and the armed Syrian opposition.
