UK Songwriting Contest The Official UK Songwriting Contest page. All songwriters worldwide can participate!

Everyone who enters this acclaimed and respected international contest, formed in in association with The BRIT Trust (of BRIT Awards fame), is told the judges score for each song and gets an official UKSC Certificate with details of their achievements. There are valuable guaranteed gifts and prizes worth many times the entry fee for everyone who enters - including song pitching opportunities and

songwriting courses. In the words of Channel 4 Television: "The UK Songwriting Contest does what it says on the tin! This is a real chance for new songwriters to break into the music business". Grammy, Emmy, CMA and BRIT Award winning judges include Sting's producer Kipper Eldridge (see photo with UKSC winner Emma), legendary producer Stuart Epps (Elton John, Robbie Williams, Oasis), Britney Spears' musical director and BRIT Award winner Simon Ellis, top producer and arranger Dr Richard Niles (Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Mariah Carey), CMA Award winning country star Lucie Diamond, chart topping songwriter Mark Cawley, and UKSC winner and Platinum Album artist Natalie Chua (signed by Simon Cowell after her win).

R&B WINNER - JARED OATES
Atlanta-based singer-songwriter Jared Oates was chosen by the UKSC judges as winner of the R&B Category in the 2024 UK Songwriting Contest with his song "Let This Go". JAZZ WINNER MATTHEW SHAKER
The 2024 Winner of the UKSC Jazz/Blues Category is Matthew Shaker wth his song "I'm Looking Forward To This". Matthew
has a varied resume packed with performing roles and musical director in dozens of musicals and plays. He has also spent decades as a piano bar performer in Los Angeles, New York and Palm Springs. For the past 15 months he has been composing and arranging music for a forthcoming original Broadway style musical, ‘Out Of Nowhere’, which will debut in Los Angeles later this year. ALL GENRES CATEGORY WINNER
Billy Reid, from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, has been interested in music from an early age and later learned to play brass instruments while in the army. He has been writing for a few years, starting with guitar and piano based songs and mre recently exploring DAWS. He told the UKSC " I’ve entered the UK Songwriting contest a few times now starting with lyrics only and building up to actually sending in complete songs. SINGER-SONGWRITER WINNER
Tan Si Min (Frances) is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Singapore and she is currently completing her Masters degree in Music Theory and Composition: Songwriting at New York University in New York City. She also studies voice with Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy Winner Nicole Zuraitis. Si Min told us that she always loved music. She learnt to play the guitar, piano and drums at age 11 and began writing her own original songs at age 13. She now writes, produces and releases her own original music on all streaming platforms. Previously a UKSC Semi-Finalist in 2022, this year her song 'Just Me' is Winner of the Singer-songwriter category. Si Mim says: "I am always open to collaborate, so please feel free to reach out".

EDM WINNER - CHRIS STOKES
The winning EDM song in the 2024 UKSC is "A Light" by Chris Stokes. Chris told the UKSC: "I've been writing songs for a few years now, mostly guitar based indie rock. However I started learning piano recently and found writing ballads to be really satisfying, and surprisingly this led to venturing into EDM.
Mashing up my love of emotional melody and stumbling across a catchy drop I wrote an EDM ballad!

Stella Fullard, from Shropshire, wins the Christian/ Faith Category with her original song Mercy Bleeds. Stella is a talented songwriter who made it to UKSC Semi Finals and Finals in past years and she finally achieved a Winner position in 2024. She says "I always wanted to win the Christian category. I know it isn’t the most popular genre but it is a big part of me and it is what I like to write about." Stella was previously named as one of the shortlisted composers in the search for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Song in 2022. NATALIE FOOKS - UKSC TEEN WINNER
Natalie Fooks is a hard working Singer-Songwriter from Sheffield, UK, who is making a name for herself in the music industry. She is pictured here with her well deserved UKSC Certificate. In 2023 she won BBC Young Chorister of The Year and was named by the BBC as a “prodigious musical talent". In 2024 she was awarded TEEN WINNER of the UK Songwrting Contest and British Songwriting Awards for her original composition Nowhere Without You, Her winning UKSC track had BBC radio play and Natalie was interviewed by BBC Radio Yorkshire (BBC Sheffield, BBC Leeds and BBC Humberside) about her winning UKSC position. Natalie has a YouTube channel and is on Facebook and Instagram and her releases can be heard and streamed on Spotify. She is featured on the UKSC website and socials and you can see her award listing on the BritSong website at britsong.com We expect we will be hearing much more of Natalie in the coming years as she develops as a performer and songwriter.

WRITE A SONG WITH RACHEL
Multi award winning musician and songwriter (and UKSC judge) Rachel Walker Mason will co-write a song with a winner of The UK Songwriting Contest this year. Rachel is a Recording Academy member and a voting member of the GRAMMYs currently working with Grammy nominees, Billboard Hot 100 Artists and alumni from The Voice UK and American Idol. She was named a UK Woman Of The Year and she is a respected and well known figure in the UK and International music industries. This is a unique opportunity for one lucky winner to work with, and co-write with, one of the most talented, experienced, well connected and respected names in the music business!

The UKSC 2024 closes for entries at the end of this month. So this week is your last chance to enter songs. If you haven't submitted yet, or you still have songs to enter, don't forget that you only have until Midnight on 30 November.
