If you’re interested in finding out how famous actors became famous, what those who are busy are doing at the moment, or what is just about to hit our cinema screens, there are lots of radio programmes, podcasts, and TV chat shows you can turn to. People seem to love hearing these stories, and actors are no different. What’s not so easy to find are interviews with actors, ‘successful' and otherwis

e, talking about what they do when they’re not working, what they’ve done to pay bills and stay sane between jobs, and openly discussing the realities of being an actor: have you ever considered giving up? how do you define success?

’In anything at the minute?’ is an attempt to restore the balance in the conversations we're having and hearing about acting. With so many actors struggling with depression and other mental health issues, it's time for honest discussions about the realities of the profession. Perhaps if we all start speaking truthfully about the struggles, we can help each other to avoid feelings of inadequacy and loneliness. I know what you're thinking, but you're wrong: this podcast is not a pity party, not a cautionary tale and not a therapy session. It is about offering the opportunity to reflect honestly on the side of being an actor that other interviews never seem to cover. It is about offering actors an insight into shared problems and, potentially, shared solutions. It is about finding and sharing honest accounts of personal experiences that go beyond anecdotes from your latest job. Most importantly, it’s as interested in actors who are not working as those who are, and it promises never to ask, “So you’re an actor… are you in anything at the minute?”.

Five years after announcing its festival debut at Galway Film Fleadh, my first first self-produced short is now publicly available for the very first time. Would I do some things differently? Absolutely. Would I do it all again? In a heartbeat. But I loved every step of it and remain very proud of both the film and everyone who made it.

I hope you like it. And I hope you're all keeping well.

Hey all, hope everyone is well. You may have noticed that I deleted the Honest Actors twitter account a while ago, and have stepped back from things. I needed to focus on paying the bills for a while - I guess we're all in the same boat there!
