The absolutely brilliant Flatpack Festival is back this September with a bang, showcasing a whole host of terrific cinematic events across the city. From otherworldly audio visual performances, to live improvised jazz paired with classic family shorts, extraordinary films showcased in beautiful surroundings and more - if you love cinema, and you love Birmingham, then THIS is the film festival for you!
Taking place from 23-26 September at locations across the city, our top picks include:
- An outdoor cinema event taking place in the stunning Martineau Gardens (complete with cosy fire pit and bar), screening the film ‘Here For Life' (24 September)
- A hilarious comedy (and masterpiece of the New Black Cinema movement) called ‘Sidewalk Stories’ which will be accompanied by a live 8-piece jazz ensemble, taking place at Midlands Arts Centre (25 September)
- A documentary called ‘Paradise Lost: History in the Un-Making’ about Brum’s beloved Central Library (RIP), complete with Q&A from the documentary maker (Andy Howlett), taking place at Midlands Arts Centre (26 September)
And this is just the tip of the awesome iceberg that is Flatpack Festival. For the last 15 years the amazing Flatpack Festival team have curated a seriously cool series of events across the city each year - showcasing and celebrating Birmingham’s hidden gems, and creating magnificent cinematic events that make our city special and unique.
