🎉Congratulations to Kayleigh at MGT Hertford on 5 years since launching the site. Hasn’t time flown! 🎉

Today marks 5 years since we launched Mum's Guide to Hertford ! 5 Years of event and class promotion of championing local businness and genuinely having a blast. What was always meant to be a side gig grew so rapidly that it ended up completely changing my career path. I genuinely do have the best job in the world and I am so thankful to all of you who are on this journey with us.

When I lead a rather nervous facebook live launch all those years ago never in my wildest dreams did I imagine how it would change my life in all the ways that it has.

Amongst all the posts and endless whats on articles and shiney content I hope that what shines through is that I am just a local mum doing my best (usually frantically typing behind the scenes) to try to make your life a little bit easier by putting all the information you might want to know about activites, clubs, classes and event for your families in one place, helping you to save time. That is my ultimate goal and nothing gives me a buzz more than when I get feedback to say it has helped.

I do have a big fancy giveaway launching tomorrow to say thank you so keep an eye out for that but in the meantime from the bottom of my heart thank you for the love and support and remember you can support my small business without even spending a penny. We can hardly believe it! 10 years ago today we first launched the Mum's guide to Harpenden website!

In that time we've...
- gone from having a few hundred visits per month to 8,000 - 10,000 visits per month!
- given the site 3 makeovers
- been part of Harpenden Discovery Day, Teddy Bear's Picnic and Harpenden Carnival on several occasions
- been on Nickey Radio, Radio Verulam and BBC Three Counties Radio
- Featured in the Hertfordshire Life Magazine
- Written numerous articles for local publications
- Been finalists in the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce Awards, Hertfordshire FSB Awards and Archant Herts & Cambs Business Awards
- Ran our Mum's guide to Harpenden Awards, now in it's 8th year
- and supported others to launch Mum's Guide To sites in 9 other towns across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Essex!

Hi ho! Hi Ho! It's back to work I go. Which means it'll soon be time for me to handover the reins for Mums Guide to Hemel Hempstead 😥

Me and my three pickles have had the best time being a part of this truly amazing initiative. You've all made us feel so very welcome and I have loved hearing about your ideas, initiatives and supporting your fabulous events.

It is such a gorgeous community right here on Mums Guide to, which is why we are keen to find someone equally pasionate about sharing things for Mums/Dads and familes to do/see and experience in and around Hemel Hempstead.

The role of Site Manager involves managing, creating and uploading content for the site and all channels of social media linked to it. Previous blogging and/or social media experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

Unfortunately this isn't a salaried role, but there is commission to be earned on advertising you generate. But overall it's the opportunity to be a bigger part of your local community and develop on what Mums Guide to Hemel Hempstead has already established - a trustworthy, up-to-the-minute online guide to the very best things to see/do and enjoy in Hemel Hempstead! 😊

😂 So true, how many of you out there feel like this? Have a doughnut for breakfast, or whatever you fancy and have some “you” time (mums or dads, or anyone else for that matter!)

‘Twas 2 weeks before Christmas and all through the house Mummy was creeping (though not as silently as a mouse, ) she tried to remember all the the things that needed to be done, the food, the cards and the presents for everyone. Had she remembered Christmas jumper day and the school play dvd, the Carol service , teacher gifts and the nativity.

Did she order the turkey? Have we got enough cheese, until she finally yelled “enough” put her feet up and made a cup of tea.

A different take on the Advent calendar from MGT Romford…

𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁

We have been doing this now for a few years. I use mostly books that we haven't read for a while (we do have an awful lot of books in our house!) and sneak in one or two new books!

I number them so that in the week leading up to Christmas there are mainly Christmas stories.

Kids love revisiting books that they have forgotten about - even if you think they may have outgrown them.

Its a cheap and easy Christmassy activity and doesn't have to cost much at all.

We love it when new sites are added to the MGT family so we are delighted that MGT Biggleswade has now launched. If you live in the area take a look. If you know anyone who does then spread the word.

Congratulations to Leanne on all ger hard work to get it up and running.

We now have NINE different sites running! Can we make it 10 before next year when we will be celebrating 10th anniversary of the launch of our original site in Harpenden?

So after months of hard work researching, gathering information, sending emails the website for is officially live. Wether your looking for an activity/ class/ one off family event then this website will definitely be your first port of call. My hard work doesn’t stop at just the website as I will constantly be adding more to the site and checking to ensure everything is kept up to date. I will continue to add articles and tried and tested reviews so you can read about my experiences before you go. Sadly, our Hemel Hempstead Site Manager is leaving us. 😢 If you live in Hemel and would be interested in taking over running the site please contact [email protected] for more information. Feel free to share with anyone you know who might be suitable.

You may have noticed it’s been a bit quieter on MGT Hemel lately and with things finally opening up again it should be buzzing with news and events!

However sadly after increasing my hours in my day job, I just don’t have the time anymore to dedicate to MGT Hemel so have taken the very hard decision so give it up and (hopefully!) hand it over to another fellow Hemel parent who can really spend the time on it that it needs.

I set up and have managed MGT Hemel now for almost 2 years (and 16 of those months during lockdown 🤪) and over 2700 of you across Instagram and Facebook have followed me along the way and I’m certain there’s plenty more space for it to grow even further!

As mentioned, it really requires someone based in Hemel with their finger on the pulse and knowledge of all the goings on in this town, from the smallest playgroups to the biggest events so that it ultimately remains a parents guide to Hemel Hempstead.
