Do you live in Bucks and do you care about the environment that you live in? Water utility companies in the UK are regularly releasing untreated sewage into our rivers and waterways, and no one is stopping them. If you find this pollution at a time of climate and biodiversity crisis to be abhorrent, please sign this petition to let Bucks Council know that you want the Water Utility Companies to be held to account. Sadly, if we don’t speak up, we can’t guarantee that the right thing will be done!

Thanks

Discharge of sewage into our rivers and coastal out flows has become a growing program due to chronic under investment by the private companies who are responsible for maintaining our waste systems. Indeed the privatised companies have paid dividends to extract huge profits while neglecting the infr...

Great opportunity for someone wanting to get into youth work or a career working with young people.

Amersham Youth Activities have an exciting opportunity for some new youth leaders to join our summer team! After an incredibly difficult 18 months for young people we are on a mission to give young people the opportunity to socialise, learn new skills and get out of the local area.
Originally started in 2011 the summer team was a program of diversionary activities designed to lower youth crime during the summer holidays. 10 years on our focus has expanded to include all young people in school years 6 – 11. We are looking for youth leaders to run trips, provide provision in and around Amersham town and give opportunities for young people to volunteer and engage with their local community.
This is a 20 hour contract based over 3 or 4 days per week with an hourly rate of £10/hour. Although the contract is over the summer holidays (July 21st – September 3rd) for the right candidate there is the opportunity to continue working part time in our youth centre in the new school term.
Think you’ve got what it takes to change lives this summer? You must have experience working with children or young people, a current DBS or be eligible for one and be available over the summer holidays. A full driving licence and a first aid certificate would be favourably looked upon.
Apply now by sending a CV and a covering letter to [email protected] – applications close on Friday 25th June.

Your Responsibilities Over the Summer
• Identify young people in Amersham town and develop professional and positive relationships with them, offering support where necessary.
• Implement the summer program throughout the summer holidays, liaise with the lead youth worker where external services (such as minibus hire and third party providers) are being used.
• Signpost young people to clubs provided by Amersham Youth Activities throughout the school year and other services and clubs as necessary.
• Be a contact point for young people and their parents during trips and activities.
• Work with our team of volunteers to ensure sufficient numbers of adults are present on larger trips.
• Adhere to the policies in place by Amersham Youth Activities including but not limited to safeguarding, health and safety, social media use and travelling in cars.

The River Chess Association know what they are talking about. There simply isn’t enough information to allow Tunnelling for hs2 without risking the loss of our rivers. There is not enough information to be sure it won’t affect our drinking water.

Really?

Is it worth it?
