The 160X, XT & A continue the tradition of the original 160 compressor - they add that "knock" to drums like nothing else

The X had jack sockets only, but the XT and A have balanced outputs on XLRs and jack, plus slightly revised output circuitry. There's more audible difference between the A and the earlier models than between an X and an XT, but there's not much in it

I select stereo pairs from stock, check to ensure they match well - linked or unlinked- calibrate the meters & supply a stereo link cable

A dynamic processor as awesome as its name is long, the Gyraf Gyratec XXI Magneto-Dynamic Infundibulum (aka G21) is a unique, passive, transformer & inductor-based equaliser, clipper and limiter

The Infundibulum, or filter, creates a sidechain to a transformer-coupled signal path using an additional transformer winding. UREI 1178 Stereo Compressor

Stereo version of the late-model 1176… The 1178 is a stone-cold classic – usable, adaptable and super-smooth whether tickling a signal or smashing it

UREI FET compressors have a super-fast attack time which mean peaky vocals or drum hits can be tucked in, or accentuated, merely by adjusting attack & release settings. For my money there’s no better all-rounder than an 1176, and the 1178 offer the same in a 2-channel / stereo package

Classic TC Equaliser from the 1980s. This is badged as an 1144 Bass Preamplifier, but is an 1140 Equaliser / Preamp with a different legend

It’s a 4-band parametric EQ with lots of overlap between bands, Q variable from wide to super-narrow and up to 20 dB of boost & cut. It’s capable of subtle eq changes and broad sweeps

The 1144 has a preamplifier with up to 20 dB of gain and, like all the early TC equalisers it has a very handy EQ match feature. This is a gain control that’s active when the EQ is switched in, to match levels between active & bypass

The 1144 has been recapped & refurbished in our workshops. In excellent used condition, ready to ship now

This is labelled as a TC 1144 Bass Preamp but it is a TC 1140 preamp / eq with a different label, designed to appeal to bass players... This EQ has been recapped & refurbished in our workshops, with bipolar caps used in the audio path. Pots & switches have been cleaned and the case repain

Effectrons are quirky, original delay devices that inspire & entertain. The modulation section can create slow, sweeping flanges or swooping pitch-bending arcs of sound

This is an Effectron III, the final version before the almost identical Super Time Line. It has over a second of delay, four memories, infinite repeat and a triggered modulation function

Effectrons sound great and are always entertaining. The ultimate antidote to dreary plugin delays, the Effectron is one of my all-time favourites

Meyer Sound CP-10 Stereo Parametric Equaliser #6

I like the CP-10 - it sounds great, five parametric bands per channel plus high and low-pass filters make it flexible, and the per-band defeat switches (also found on the Orban 622B and Klein+Hummel EQs) are are nice touch

Modular design makes the CP-10 super-easy to maintain, even when bolted into a rack. Remove the front panel (four screws) and each band is on a plug-in card. What's more, any band can be modified as a shelving equaliser with the addition of one wire link

Tough, road-proof construction, power-off bypass relays and top-quality components make these easy to live with and sonically they are smooth-sounding & flexible

Carnaval is aimed at Latin music withs hundreds of samples & loops in different styles, including guitars - acoustic, electric, 12‑string, nylon, steel, etc - and percussion including timbales, congas, bongos, cabasa, quica, shakers and more cowbell. Global tempo setting makes it easy to sync rhythms to a song and the user memories make it easy to edit & save setups

We’ve had previous encoder problems with these E-MU units so we refurbish each one, recapping the power supply and fitting a new encoder and backup battery. Should be good for another 25 years!

Electrix Mo-FX Time Synchronized Stereo Effects. Multiband stereo effects unit with distortion, flanging, tremolo & delay sections. Each effect can be targeted at different frequency bands and has a high / mid / low selector with LEDs to show the bands being effected. It’s simpler to use than to explain…

There’s also a momentary button for each section that allows that function to be temporarily switched in or out while the button is pressed. A global LFO gives a timebase for effect timing with a tap tempo button to set tempo

The delay section speed pot works in real time so delays & repeats can be pitched up & down by changing speed – just like a Deltalab Effectron. Like other Electrix units the Mo-FX has full midi implementation so can be controlled in real time. The front panel sends & received control data so performances can be recorded, edited & played back
