Radio is dying. Mainstream 'pop' music is choking the life from it, with its glamour, greed and "celebrity". it's bleeps and farts. Its commissioning panels are hard at work picking the next 'hit' for the unthinking majority in a self-fulfilling cycle of sh*te. Thankfully, there are some great radio stations that

have the foresight and the open mindedness to address this situation, by allowing more METAL on the air! In early 2013, We had a dream to bring the best, and sometimes unusual metal in the world into one weekly show. Backed by former hosts, and local FM station Calon FM, 'The Metalheadz: Extended Play' was born. After 50 successful shows, The host, Dani, otherwise known as 'The Gentleman of Metal' decided to freshen up the format, and now brings you POWERZONE! With help from his 'talkative' co-host Joe 'The Roadie', and occasional guest hosts, POWERZONE strives to continue the good work and give you more diverse metal from the world over, stuff that you're unlikely to hear elsewhere. We interview bands, visit lots of live shows and review them, as well as having competitions, giveaways and lots of fun. It's well worth a listen. After almost 8 years on air, 2020 claimed another victim, and our local station, Calon FM, was no more. When the metal community heard our clarion call sounding, they rallied to our aid, and Scotland Rocks Radio stepped in as our heroes! Since then, we're trying to spread our wings and have joined forces with other enlightened stations, to help spread the good word about POWERZONE and get this great music heard across the world while working closely with other great DJs and supporting their efforts too. In July 2022, Powerzone closed for good. From new singles and classic tracks, Forest, Folk, Power, Battle, Thrash, Pirate & Black Metal are all belted out at high volume for your delectation. These sort of genres aren't on mainstream radio here in the UK, so you have to tune in to hear the madness right here on Powerzone. Listen to our old shows and make your week BRUTAL! Amongst many others (Over 8300 tracks and 1800 artists played when we last counted in Feb 2022), we play tracks by bands such as: Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Powerwolf, Gamma Ray, Edguy, Sabaton, Stratovarius, Kiuas, Moonsorrow, In Flames, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Turisas, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Equilibrium, Dream Evil, Hammerfall, Helloween, Avantasia, Rage & Sonata Arctica.

BRINGING THE BRUTAL

Radio is dying. Mainstream 'pop' music is choking the life from it, with its glamour, greed and "celebrity". Its bleeps and farts. Its soul-crushing, anti-music "experts" are sat on commissioning panels, hard at work picking the next 'hit' for the unthinking majority in an endless cycle of sh*te. It doesn't have to be that way.

Thankfully, there are some radio stations that have the foresight and the open-mindedness to address this situation, by allowing more METAL on the air! Calon FM is one such station, and they bring you this show weekly. And now, even more stations are seeing the light across the globe, and Australia's 2NVR is the latest station to host POWERZONE as part of Todd Wills' Friday Rock Show. We bring the BRUTAL to you weekly on the following stations:

Calon FM 105FM Monday 9pm-11pm [UK] 2NVR 105.9FM 8pm-10pm [NSW Australia]

POWERZONE prides itself on being different. We play things most other shows would baulk at. Power metal, Folk metal, Black metal, Death metal, Thrash, Viking, Symphonic, the list goes on.
