To all our fabulous readers and supporters….. we have some great changes and developments occurring. We have a local lady currently building a brand new website for us which will go live soon. We also have some changes to our contact details which will be launched on here and in magazine in next week. We hope it will make everything easier for people to read the magazine, get updated with news and keep in touch.

The Marlpit are delighted to work with Hewitt & Grant to raise funds for our magazine. There are some lovely blackberries available which have been hand picked, grown naturally with no chemicals from a field in Horstead. No charge but we ask a donation of at least £1. We hope they will be available for the next 8 weeks or so. Thank you to Hewitt & Grant for their support and thank you in advance for any purchases.

2 days to go. Coltishall Lower Common starting at 6.15pm and finishing with the lighting of the Beacon at 9.15pm. You can buy take-away food from the Rising Sun, BBQ food from Kings Head. We have some games and entertainment for the children, Johnny Jump band for music and the all important last post being played after the national tribute.

As always parking will be tricky so we do ask that those who can do walk. We tried to find a solution and off site parking with easy walking access but unfortunately couldn't.

We wish everyone a very enjoyable time, we hope the sun will shine and we hope we do the villages of Horstead and Coltishall proud. Please be aware some of the ground is a little soft so some area's will have barriers so you don't fall in a puddle!!!

Look forward to seeing you, bring friends, family and children to enjoy the event.

We are pleased to say the plans for the 80th Anniversary celebration of D-day are coming on well. The event is being held on Thursday 6th June at Coltishall Lower Common from 6.15pm - 9.30pm. Kings Head Coltishall will be doing a BBQ and The Rising Sun Coltishall a great menu of food including fish and chips which is traditional for the D-Day event. Johnny Jump playing and money raised will be for The Royal British Legion. Still planning in progress so more details to follow. The beacon will be lit to close the event.

In the next magazine, and at the event, we are hoping to feature stories and photos from local people about their mum's/dad's/grandparents/great-grandparents time of serving in the war. Does anyone have anything they would like to submit?

Helpers are also very very welcome as set up support is needed during the day and help on the evening so if you have an hour or so to spare and can assist in creating a great event please do get in touch.
