TOXICOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL IMPACT OF SOME BIOINSECTICIDES AGAINST THE LARVAE OF THE RED PALM WEEVIL, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (OLIVIER) UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS | UTTAR PRADESH JOURNAL OF ZOOLOGY

The red palm weevil (RPW), Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Olivier) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), is one of the most important and destructive pests for date palms causing high economic losses. Several control methods have been applied to manage this pest. Intensive use of conventional insecticides to control RPW successfully minimized the weevil number, but they are still harmful for the environment as they cause pollution and damage other useful creatures. The present study aimed to find suitable, effective, and safe alternative control means. In addition, the impact of tested compounds on the enzymatic activity of the third instar larvae were assayed spectrophotometrically. Four commercial insecticides were applied against the 3rd instar larvae of RPW under laboratory conditions and the LC50 values were estimated. Larvae that survived treatment were collected 24h post treatment and were prepared for further enzymatic activities analysis. All experimentations were carried out at Wood and tree scavenger research department, Plant protection research institute, Agricultural research center. Results showed that Dr. Sure® was the most toxic compound according to low LC50 value obtained. In addition, results revealed that BIO-MAGIC® was the least toxic as the high LC50 value compared to the other compounds. In addition, results revealed significant impacts on the detoxifying enzymes in the 3rd instar larvae treated with LC50 of tested compounds as a defensive response against those compounds. These results reveal the suitability of the non-conventional insecticides to control the youngest larval instars effectively.

THE SUBJECTIVE HEALTH INDEX AS A CRITERION FOR ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF THE PRENOSOLOGICAL STATE OF THE BODY | Asian Journal of Advances in Medical Science

Early diagnosis of prenosological conditions and focus on strengthening primary prevention, health improvement and health protection of practically healthy people is an urgent task of preventive medicine. One of the most significant indicators of each person's attitude to health is his self-assessment of his physical and mental state. Subjective assessment of health can be considered as one of its indicators. In this work, based on the results of subjective self-assessment of the health level of groups of young people, using the approach of deterministic factor analysis and an additive model of the relationship of factors with the result to be detected, an informative integral marker is proposed - the subjective health index (SНI), methods for its determination, as well as criteria and scales for assessing the prenosological level of somatic health. The reliability of the obtained results is confirmed by their comparison with the results of objective studies. The aim of this work is to develop a non-invasive express method for assessing the prenosological level of individual health and, on their basis, to create a technology for remote prenosological diagnostics and monitoring of the health of a healthy population.

DIVERSITY OF BUTTERFLIES (LEPIDOPTERA) IN MAHATMA PHULE A. S. C. COLLEGE CAMPUS AND ADJACENT AREAS OF PANVEL, RAIGAD, MAHARASHTRA | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

Panvel region of Raigad district harbors a great range of vegetation, estuary and mountainous hills and thus offers habitation for living organisms including butterflies. Several anthropogenic activities including the ongoing construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has destroyed habitat in and around Panvel region. Loss of habitat results in the decline of biodiversity of both vertebrates and invertebrates. There is not even a preliminary list of Lepidopteran species of this region. Therefore, the present study was conducted to prepare a checklist of butterflies in the region. Butterflies were observed for one year (from June 2019 to May 2020) in different localities of Mahatma Phule College of Arts, Science and Commerce (MPASC) campus and the adjacent areas in Panvel. A total of 42 species of Lepidopteran belonging to 32 genera and 6 families were recorded. Among the 6 families, Nymphalidae dominated the list with 14 genera and 21 species, Pieridae with 7 genera and 9 species, Lycaenidae with 7 genera and 7 species, Papilionidae with 2 genera and 3 species, Hesperiidae and Riodinidae with 1 genus and 1 species each. This study would provide information on the biodiversity of butterflies of the region that can be used as a baseline preliminary data for further butterfly studies.

EFFECT OF HABITAT QUALITY, MICROCLIMATIC CONDITIONS AND WASTE WATER CONTAMINATION ON DIVERSITY & DISTRIBUTION OF COLLEMBOLA COMMUNITY | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

Soil biodiversity is undergoing dramatic changes due to human and climatic interference, habitat loss and fragmentation due to land use changes, increasing pollution and degradation in terrestrial ecosystems. The overall effect of habitat loss is on the loss of soil micro arthropods diversity which is observed due to negative response of substrate quality. Adverse microclimatic conditions may also be detrimental to species specific communities along with waste water contamination. Thus, an investigation has been carried out to ascertain the effect of habitat quality, microclimatic conditions and waste water contamination on diversity and distribution of Collembola community. For this, 4 samples have been taken monthly for a period of one year from two different study sites of Aligarh along with edapho-chemical properties. We observed the density of Collembola (18.8 ind./sample) was always approximately three times more in agriculture site than in wasteland (7.6 ind./sample) site. Population of Collembola was statistically positive significant with reference to soil organic matter % (r = 0.621, P>0.05), Soil Organic Carbon % (r = 0.622, P>0.05), available nitrogen (r = 0.622, P>0.05) and Potash (r = 0.562, P>0.05) in Agriculture site whereas these all were statistically insignificant in Wasteland site.

A STUDY OF VARIATIONS IN THE E.R.R. AND OTHER REARING PERFORMANCES OF MUTANT STRAINS OF INDIAN TASAR SILKWORM | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

This Research Article is an effort to study the relative variations in respect of rearing performances and to study the impacts of zonal differences on the productivity and qualities of tasar cocoons of three mutant strains viz; Daba–blue, Daba–yellow and Daba–almond of tasar silk worm, A. mylitta D. Results obtained are indicative of the fact that the three mutant strains of Tasar Silk Worm differ among themselves in respect of their rearing performances. The performances of Daba–blue in respect of rearing performances have been found evidently better than the Daba–yellow and Daba–almond. Further, zonal differences influence the relative performances of mutant strains of Antheraea mylitta D in respect of productivity and quality of tasar cocoons. The results have clearly shown that the productivity and quality of tasar cocoons of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh zones are relatively better and superior to Orissa, West Bengal and Bihar Zones of tasar producing states. The performances of Daba–blue in respect of productivity and qualities of tasar cocoons have been found evidently better than the Daba–yellow and Daba–almond. The results obtained appear to be the outcome of genetic variability among the three mutant strains of A. mylitta D. on account of relative differences in their physio–genetic makeup. Results obtained are indicative of the fact all the three mutant strains of A. mylitta D. in spite of relative differences have registered their supremacy over the control (Daba–green) on account of desired beneficial mutation in relation to their breeding activities. Thus the evolution of three distinct mutant strains of tropical tasar silkworm is in the larger interest of tasar culture.

IMPACT OF INTERNET USE RISK, ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE SECURITY OF THE WEBSITE, CONVENIENCE OF ONLINE PURCHASES IN INTENTION TO BUY ONLINE | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

The last decade has seen phenomenal growth in online sales around the world. This paper studies the impact of the risk associated with using the Internet, attitudes towards a website's security features and the convenience associated with online shopping, and how the three together affect the intention to shop online. Multiple regression was used to conduct the study. Cronbach's alpha and other tools to verify the reliability and validity of the data were applied correctly and the values were satisfactory. Attitude towards website security was found to have the greatest impact on online purchase intent, followed by the convenience of online shopping. It also appears that the risk associated with internet use is negatively linked to the intention to shop online. It is suggested to highlight the security features of online stores and mitigate the risk associated with the use of the Internet. Online stores should emphasize the convenience of browsing and ordering from online stores.

CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISION OF JUDICIAL REVIEW IN INDIA: AN EVALUATION | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

The aim of this paper is to study the different provisions of constitution of India which deals with Judicial review. Under the constitution of India, the scope of judicial review has been extremely widened. Judicial review in India is based on the assumption that the constitution is the supreme law of the land and all the governmental organs, which owe their origin to the constitution and derive their powers from its provisions, must function within the framework of the constitution. Unlike the U.S.A., the constitution of India has not made express provision for judicial review. The scope of judicial review is present in several articles of the constitution, such as Article 13, 32, 141, 226 and 227. Thus, the doctrine of judicial review is firmly rooted in India and in this sense it is on a more solid footing than it is in America.

EVOLUTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONCEPT OF JUDICIAL REVIEW IN INDIA: AN EVALUATION | Asian Journal of Advances in Research

This paper is an attempt to study the evolution and development of concept of judicial review in India. Judicial review is basically an aspect of judicial power of the state which is exercised by the courts to determine the validity of a rule of law or an action of any agency of the state. It originated in English legal system and became a very important principle in the systems of government based on Rule of Law. The Constitution of U.S.A. makes no specific reference to the judicial review of legislation. However, Chief Justice Lord Coke’s decision in Bonham’s laid down the foundation of Judicial Review of legislation in the United States of America, which has now become one of the most outstanding features for the operation of that Constitution. In India, judicial review is not an event of sudden emergence but its gradual evolution depended on the constitutional ideas in different stages of Indian constitutional history. Constitution of India, 1950 explicitly establishes the Doctrine of Judicial Review under various Articles of the Constitution.
