This week three Evelyn Smith books from the backlist have been added to the website:

Binkie of IIIB
Biddy and Quilla
Nicky of the Lower Fourth

And a new book added to the website, Amazon and sent to wide distribution is Winifred Norling's St. Ann's on the Anvil.

Another new book is almost ready to go, either next week or the week after.

I'm also working hard on next year's list, with books being scanned and getting their first proofs before setting for ebook. I'm been gifted a full set of Angela Brazil, so some of those will start to appear next year. I'm also in negotiation with a couple of author estates to get permission for some new authors to add to the list. I'll keep you updated on that once contracts are agreed and signed.

This week I have sent all three of the Leah Weinberg books by Joan Butler-Joyce for wide distribution and they are all live now. Hot Water was already on the website, but I've now added She Went to London and No Responsibility as well. They've also been updated on Amazon.

As for the situation on books for wider distribution. It seems that retailers are the ones blocking public domain content, so Amazon remains the only marketplace for a lot of our older books. If you don't have a Kindle - or Kindle app - and would prefer to have your books in EPUB format, then you'll need to buy them directly from our website. If you're not sure whether a book is available from your preferred retailer, check the book list on the site to view all options. And remember that the list changes as I continue to work through through the backlist or add new books, so check it regularly. (I'm usually updating on a Thursday (Australian time.)

We also have a new book on the website and on Amazon this week:

Rhoda by E L Haverfield

I'm expecting two, possibly three, more new books to be ready for release before Christmas, even as I continue to reformat and reproof books from the backlist. It's only October, so the year isn't over yet, but I'm officially declaring it a good year, with 14 new books published so far and around 60 from the backlist reformatted and added to the website.

After the death of their father, Rhoda Vinning and her sisters Olive, Anna, Eleanor and Peggy discover that their beautiful country mansion has been mortgaged and that they will have very little to live on. Full of pride and embarrassment, they run to London where they hope to find a cheap place to....

Nothing new added to the website this week, but there's been a lot happening in the background. Several new books are close to being published, and several backlist are also nearly ready to add to the website, so there should be a few things coming over the next week.

As you know, there's been a problem with the wider distribution, for those of you who don't like to use the big A. Well, I've set up an account with a new distributor and will be sending books for which I have contracts to them for distribution to platforms other than Amazon. I've uploaded Missing from Mallingford's by Winifred Norling and that has already been accepted by more than half the available platforms, including Apple Books, Smashwords, Borrow Box, B&N and more. It'll probably take a few days to filter through their systems before they become searchable, but I'll be pleased if this new channel works for us.

I'm still unsure on the situation with the books that are in the public domain. I've sent a query to the support desk for clarification on whether or not they will accept them. I'll keep you updated.

I'm also in discussions with a few author estates in the hopes of bring some more variety to our publishing list. Again, I'll let you know when I have more information.

Three new books added to the website this week:

A Fifth Form Martyr & Her Second Chance by E M Channon
Between Two Terms by Ethel Talbot
25 September 2025

Updated files will be with Amazon shortly, but there are few changes, so no need to update unless you want to.

Joan Partridge is never satisfied with her life. She can always find something to complain about. But when she goes away for half-term and finds herself in 1890, she discovers that her life in 1935 isn't that bad after all.

Our early books by people like Evelyn Smith, E M Channon, Helen Barber etc were made available in print as well as digital format. Although they’re long out of print, it may be that some of them are still available from UK dealers. I know some of you really like the print copies so in case you’re missing any we did in print, I thought it worth reminding you to check with people like Caroline O’Sullivan, Betula O’Neill, Sally Dore, Jan Johnson. Anyone else have copies for sale? Dealers, if you have copies, feel free to add your contact details here.

I've had a couple of quiet weeks, but this week there are three books added to the website (and updated on Amazon):

The Little Betty Wilkinson by Evelyn Smith
Marie Macleod Schoolgirl by Evelyn Smith
Expelled from St Madern's by E M Channon

The latest news on wide distribution is that IngramSpark is telling me they aren't accepting public domain books. There has been no answer as to when this policy was introduced and why I wasn't notified - since all the information on their website still suggests otherwise - and doesn't explain why they have blocked the last book I uploaded that isn't in the public domain. I have yet to hear if or when they will allow me to upload the books for which I have a contract to publish. So that means for now at least, if you don't want to buy from Amazon, you'll need to get your books direct from the Books to Treasure website.

Ten-year-old Marie Macleod, a shy and somewhat backward girl, is suddenly plunged into boarding-school life. How she surmounts the difficulties which beset her and eventually wins through is told with refreshing charm.

It's been a good week for getting older publications updated. Reproofed, reformatted, added to the website and updated on Amazon:

Pat of Perry's - Winifred Norling
Hot Water - Joan Butler-Joyce
Sylvia's Victory - E L Haverfield
The New Girl - Dorothea Moore
The First Fifth Form - Evelyn Smith

Also added to the website and to Amazon is a book that may be of interest to fans of Elsie J Oxenham:

Feed my Sheep - D C Daking (otherwise known as the Pixie)

This is a book on psychology and spirituality and explains a lot of the Pixie’s attitudes and advice in the Abbey books. Daking had a second book published, which I will also be publishing in due course.

This thought-impelling work touches upon psychology, discussing the standpoint of various leading psychologists—Freud, Adler, Groddeck, Jung, and our own Doctor William Brown.

Still no updates. I was finally starting to feel better by the end of the weekend then had medical appointments Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday! Feels like a never-ending cycle at the moment.

IngramSpark continues to be a pain, not only rejecting public domain books (even by authors they’ve already established and accepted as being PD) but also the ones not PD that I have contracts for, and their appeal process is completely one-sided, not giving me a chance to prove my rights. So for those of you wanting access to the books via wide distribution, I can only offer an apology but unfortunately it’s out of my control.

22/08/2025

I'm currently down with a lurgy and spent most of yesterday (and the day before) in bed, so I missed the weekly update (which I'm aiming to do each Thursday). Still resting up today but thought I should do the update even though it's only to say there are no updates this week. I've taken a break from proofreading to do some pleasure reading while I recover. Hopefully there'll be something to report next week.
