Tap in, tune out.
Years ago, I was compelled to consider today’s music climate, and a startling realization came to me. I realized that most aspiring independent musicians out there will get stuck somewhere in their career, and not know how to move forward due to limited resources, knowledge and skill. It also dawned on me that if you are not going to compromise your art, then you have to be able to record and produce your art outside of the major label music “umbrella” ( think SONY, UNIVERSAL, ASCAP, BMI ect.)
Today there are many talented indie artists standing at the cross roads with a decision to make. Do you sign with a label and let them handle all the recording, publishing, distribution, and promotion of your music, or should you? After all that’s an enormous amount of power your giving to someone else to manage your artistic career.
That’s why I created Tap and Tune, to give indie artists an alternative to the big music label machine. So there you go. You don’t have to sell out, in order to make a big sounding record, you just need a team that can get you there, who understands the needs of the artist and can steward the creative recording process from start to finish.
At Tap N Tune we focus on the essentials. We concentrate on the song writing, the pre-production, and the recording process with wisdom, so that you can lay down your best ideas with ease and simplicity. Our goal is not to stifle or take away from the genius of raw artistic inspiration, but rather to harness and refine the sound, so that it can be released with power and honesty.
For years I struggled with frustration as an artist because what I was looking for I couldn’t find. I was looking for a way to produce my sound with honest people who cared more about the art than the money, but what I found was more production hucksters, wanna-be’s, and sharks swimming in the music pool. Then I made the decision to go to audio school, and learn the art and science of audio engineering.
After school, I moved to Nashville in 2012, where I thought things might be different. In some ways it was even worse. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of great people in Nashville making records that I respect, but for every one person that has integrity in this industry there are three snakes in the lobby, looking to bite.
So I left Nashville in 2015, hoping to establish something different, and the past five years I have spent time reflecting on my personal music philosophy, of which I have articulated and refined.
That philosophy is this: Making and recording music shouldn’t be about image it should be about substance, and creating your best work possible. It shouldn’t be about compromising your ethics and convictions just to have access to a nice recording facility where some engineer producer is going to re-interpret your artistic vision and turn your songs into something other than what you intended.
Instead of big label promises, hype, and greed we offer proven solutions, so that you can carve out your own space in the indie music space. We do this by enabling the artist to affordably record, mix and master your music at an professional level.
This is the Tap N Tune difference, and I hope that you will agree that you don’t have to sacrifice sound quality for integrity.
