Matt Robbins Crafted Woodworking UK Kitchens:
Hand-made kitchens are one of the areas of his business that Matt is most passionate about.

As a keen cook in his spare time, he understands the importance of the kitchen particularly in terms of design and practicality. He appreciates that it is often the heart of the home and plays an important part of everybody’s day to day lives. As with all of Matt’s joinery products the kitchen furniture is hand-made using traditional and modern joinery methods. All items are designed and crafted t

o utilise the space in the best possible way, taking into account the overall aesthetic of the room. He is always happy to discuss your needs and ideas to design a kitchen that is best suited to you and your home. Camper interiors:
Matt also has a passion for creating camper van furniture. As an avid VW enthusiast, he knows how important these vehicles are to each individual owner. Whether your heart is set on a modern style cooking pod or a full hand crafted bespoke camping interior, Matt’s experience in the joinery trade will give your van what it deserves. As with all of Matt’s work, the furniture is designed around your specifications to best suit your needs and personal taste. Joinery:
As a fully qualified and experienced joiner Matt is able to manufacture all types of joinery products to a very high standard. Alongside the handmade kitchens and furniture he can also produce high quality items such as windows, doors, staircases, mouldings and many other products. Cabinet making:
The beauty of bespoke joinery is that you can have exactly what you wish for. Whether it’s furniture for an office, a bookcase, a purpose made dresser, wardrobes and drawers for your bedroom suite, or perhaps a glass display cabinet; all work is built to the highest standard. Matt prides himself in designing and creating beautiful and unique pieces of furniture to suit you and your home. Be it a traditional design for a more historical property or a more modern contemporary feel for a new build. If however you have your own ideas or perhaps a photo from a magazine, Matt is able to replicate most things or interpret your ideas into a final design ready for the finished product to be crafted.

2 sets of shaker bedroom wardrobes & top boxes installed last week. These were for the same client as the previous bookcase. They will now be hand painted on site and have the coving installed over the face of the pelmet for a fully fitted look.

Thanks to for the spray primer & undercoat, for helping with the installation, for the hardware and for supplying the raw timber materials.

An expected power outage yesterday in the valley for electrical pole upgrades meant that I got a long overdue day on the mill.

I nice straight grained ash stick with a touch of oliving in the inner rings through the chains.

Good to get some time back on the panther mill with the old 064.

A big thanks to for the spray primer/undercoat and also to for lending a hand with the installation. Certainly couldn’t have managed without him. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

And of course as always, for supplying the hardware. Handles supplied by the client.

Looking forward to returning to get some photos of the finished project once it’s painted.

Finally back at it this week after the Christmas break and a horrible bout of Covid installing the shutters that I finished up before Christmas to this old butchers shop window.

The clients wanted a 50/50 split to let the natural light in so that they could work at a desk whilst keeping some privacy from passers by.

This was achievable by using SOSS hinges and “push to open” magnetic catches rather than a sliding track system.

Thanks to for the hinges & fittings.

A few furniture repairs and adjustments last week for a client.
Among several pieces that required some attention was this old pine table that the client wanted raising up as it had a low drawer at one end and particularly wide aprons meaning that anyone struggled to get their legs underneath when sat down.

I turned a set of oak feet to raise it by a couple of inches. I chose a hardwood so that it was more durable when moving the table around.

Nice to get some time in on the lathe agin. 😊

So I’ve not posted anything for quite a while.
This is mainly due to the fact that the workshop quietened right down earlier in the summer.
One large job getting cancelled due to the clients house sale falling through and many others not coming off due to the ever increasing cost of materials and life in general just getting more expensive for everyone. It was all very worrying.

Thankfully though, I’m very fortunate and grateful to have some good contacts which got me through this quieter period even if it meant working away from the workshop.
Sometimes being a self employed “one man band” furniture maker isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be and you have to take the rough with the smooth. And unfortunately at the end of the day, the bills still have to be paid!

Nobody ever said that working for yourself was easy and I just wanted to point out that it’s certainly not as glossy and easy as social media makes it out to be.

I take my hat off to anyone that’s kept going through it all as I know that there are many that have had to close their doors due to rising costs.
I really feel for those guys. 😔

Back in the workshop now though with my boys so looking forward to getting stuck into some new client projects.

I hope that everyone else is managing to keep busy in these very uncertain times.

Much love, Matt, Bodhi & Forest! 🐶🐶 ❤️

Introducing the “Forest” side table.

Not referring to our beautiful woodlands but to my little four long legged bouncy little friend Forest the Labrador. 😍
The legs on the table kind of reminded me of him so it’s named after him. 😂

A big thank you to everyone that came down to The Crown Winterborne Stickland on Saturday night to support the demise of my hair in aid of MND.

A huge shout out goes to David Cox for doing such a sterling job on cutting my hair infront of everyone! That can’t have been easy. Also a big thank you to Christof Sibley for sorting out the raffle & Auction and thanks to the Crown for hosting.

In total with money raised from the evening and donations currently on my just giving page we’ve raised a whopping £4475.00.

A massive thankyou to everyone who’s has contributed. This really is amazing and hopefully will make a difference to people suffering with MND in the way of future research and care.
This is certainly a disease that we all need to be more aware of and more research needs to be carried out in order to hopefully find a cure.

In the words of Doddie Wier, “Motor neurone disease isn’t incurable, it’s just underfunded”!!!

Big love, Matt. ❤️❤️❤️

One for the pizza lovers! 🍕
The recently completed garden pizza preparation & cooking station. Made from Iroko, finished in teak oil and utilising the clients own slab of granite. It also has tusk tenons so that it can be flat packed to go camping.
This was a fun little project to do.

So for those of you that don’t know me, I’m Matt and this is the face behind

At the end of 2021 my uncle was diagnosed with MND. To see a loved one suffer this cruel disease and rapidly go down hill is truly heartbreaking. Around the same time a lovely lady in our village was also diagnosed with the disease.

After 15 years of having long hair, I’ve decided to shave my head to try and raise money for the MND association so that more research can be carried out into this devastating disease and more care can be provided to those that are already suffering with it.

I know that times are very tough for people at the moment financially speaking but if you could make a donation however small then it would be greatly appreciated.

I will also be donating my long locks to the little princess trust.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your support!

Best wishes to all!

Matt.
