A British Rail long service certificate from 1971 has been found in a jigsaw purchased from a Lockerbie charity shop and a call has gone out to try and trace the relatives of the person named. The name is Railman William Barnfather (of Carlisle) and it thanks him for 53 years of service. The Railway Magazine

This morning a member of our staff caught a member of the public trespassing on site at Crewe Diesel Depot.
Crewe Diesel Depot is a working facility. There is a risk of moving traction at all times.

We would like to remind everyone that while it is tempting to try and enter without permission to get a special photograph of a particular engine, anyone caught wandering around site without permission will be removed and reported to the BTP.
Safety first.

The risks are there and any incident can has serious or fatal consequences for not only our business but also yourselves.
I hope you can understand where we are coming from with this post. LS Group don't wish to be negative but it's always the minority who spoil it for the majority.

On 31 August, the Severn Valley Railway is putting on a mini enthusiast event

Two visiting steam locomotives, 45596 “Bahamas” and 2999 “Lady of Legend” will join newly overhauled 13268. Diesel traction will be supplied by D821 “Greyhound”, which is making its first runs of 2024, following extensive repairs.

Also, there'll be 100th birthday celebrations for GWR 4566. The locomotive is on static display at The Engine House, Highley, and its supporters are raising funds for its overhaul and return to service.

Great initiative from the WyvernRail plc - The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. £5 shopping special.

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is thrilled to announce a new initiative designed to champion local businesses and make shopping local more accessible than ever. Starting this Saturday, 3rd August, a special £5 railcar service will whisk passengers directly to the heart of the Wirksworth Farmers Market, a treasure trove of local produce, crafts, and unique gifts.
