WHAT'S ON – Tuesday 9th July 2024, 1pm: Face-to-face meeting of the Community Engagement Forum for Stoke Gifford, Stoke Park and Cheswick.

An opportunity for residents to discuss and address neighbourhood matters and help build a stronger community.

Includes updates from Avon Fire & Rescue Service and Avon & Somerset Police.

This meeting of the forum will include a presentation by South Gloucestershire Council’s StreetCare Services.

The parliamentary constituency of Filton and Bradley Stoke (FaBS) has a new member of parliament after Labour’s Claire Hazelgrove swept to victory in Thursday’s general election.

Her success ends a 14-year domination of the seat by the Conservatives' Jack Lopresti, who had held it since its inception in 2010.

Labour’s share of the vote in FaBS rose from 38.4 percent in 2019 to 45.3 percent…

🦺 Recent inspections have revealed deterioration on the link road bridge decks between the and , prompting essential repair work over two weekends:
🔶 7pm Friday 5 July to 6am Monday 8 July: the M4 eastbound to M5 southbound link will be closed
🔶 7pm Friday 12 July to 6am Monday 15 July: M4 westbound to M5 northbound link will be closed

🚘 While the M5 and M4 will remain open, we recommend planning ahead and allowing extra travel time.

🗺️ Diversion routes will be in place so you will still be able to get where you're going.

We are delighted to announce that our Summer Fair, sponsored by James Crumpton - Bristol Property Expert, has raised an incredible £7,250 for St Michael’s CofE Primary School Stoke Gifford!

Every single penny will be invested back into school for the benefit of the children. To know that so many amazing memories were made at the same time as raising such a huge amount, is the icing on the cake.

TRAVEL (ROAD): Overnight closures of A38 Gloucester Road slip roads at the Gipsy Patch Lane junction start tonight (Monday 10th June 2024).

Evening road closures are planned 8pm to 6am to the Gloucester Road flyover slip lanes on the A38 near the junction with Gipsy Patch Lane from 10 - 25 June.

Works to carry out concrete testing will commence tonight, 10 June with a closure on the east side slip lanes (south bound). The slip lane closures will swap over at a later date to the West side slip lanes (north bound).

The A38 carriageway over the flyover will not be affected.

The alternative route will be on a signed diversion.

🚴 Learn how to bike right!

We are inviting adults who may not have been cycling for a while to get back in the saddle for a FREE-OF-CHARGE cycle confidence course.

🚲 You’ll start in a traffic free environment to refresh your cycling technique and build up your skills to ensure you have good bike control and can comfortably steer, brake, signal and use the gears. You may also get a chance to venture out onto some quiet roads.

The sessions are at UWE’s Frenchay Campus, in the car park by the Enterprise 1 building, on Wednesday 19 June and Friday 21 June, at either 3.30pm to 5pm or 5.30pm to 7pm.
