The Ringing World The Ringing World is the weekly magazine produced by Church Bell Ringers, for ringers, about ringers

Can you tow a caravan?

If so, you could tow the Touring Tower!

An article in the Christmas issue of The Ringing World has called for more volunteers to help with coordinating and transporting mobile belfries, as the new “Touring Tower” joins the Charmborough Ring and the Lichfield Diocesan Mobile Belfry to provide a coordinated central ‘hub’ for booking these mobile rings of bells.

The newest mobile belfry, now named “The Touring Tower” after a call for naming ideas went out on social media is expected to be ready on its bespoke tilting trailer by Easter 2024. It has been specifically designed to be quicker and easier to erect than the other two mobile belfries, but also to be lighter. It is expected that the Touring Tower will have a total weight with its trailer of 1625kg, which is within the capabilities of many vehicles typically used to tow caravans.

The article can be read here: https://mobilebelfries.org/links.htm

The Charmborough Trust, which has for many years coordinated bookings for the Charmborough Ring, has now been renamed the Mobile Belfries Trust (MBT), and will now be responsible for bookings for all the three mobile belfries. In addition to looking for more people who might be able to tow the mobile belfries, the MBT is looking to add additional Trustees to help increase its activities and goals to take mobile bells out to new audiences.
The article also invites interest in hiring the mobile rings. If you are planning a marketing campaign or event next year, maybe as a university attending a Freshers Fair, mobile belfries have provide successful in helping to recruit. The bells in the Touring Tower could be used for teaching.

A marvelously niche magazine called The Ringing World is selling THREE of my Christmas card designs! But you don't have to be a bell ringer to buy them, you can order directly from their shop: https://ringingworld.co.uk/purchase/shop/christmas-cards.html 🐭
(Click the link to see the other two cards in the pack!)

PS I'm also going to sell a very limited edition of my own Christmas cards (with a different new design) but those won't go on sale until my online shop reopens on Oct 5th. (I'll also be selling original artwork from the third book, 'Adventuremice: Mice on the Ice').

It's the last week of our 'Eyes on 2030' survey about the RW in the future. We've had some fantastic replies but we still want to hear from more people - particularly non-subscribers. Please pass on the word and go to

Ringing World in the Future - Online Surveys

03/03/2023

Do you want the Ringing World to be around in 2030? We're conducting a survey of as many ringers as possible to find out what you value about us. Is it the weekly journal, or BellBoard, or the RWNYC? What do you like to read? What might convince you or ringers you know to subscribe? Please take 15-25 minutes to share your views with us at www.ringingworld.co.uk/survey - thank you!

Hands up if you made it onto the front cover of The Ringing World in 1988? 🙋‍♂️

We love this image of the cathedral from 34 years ago, plenty has changed (the precinct, the steps...) and yet so much has stayed the same.
