Can you tow a caravan?
If so, you could tow the Touring Tower!
An article in the Christmas issue of The Ringing World has called for more volunteers to help with coordinating and transporting mobile belfries, as the new “Touring Tower” joins the Charmborough Ring and the Lichfield Diocesan Mobile Belfry to provide a coordinated central ‘hub’ for booking these mobile rings of bells.
The newest mobile belfry, now named “The Touring Tower” after a call for naming ideas went out on social media is expected to be ready on its bespoke tilting trailer by Easter 2024. It has been specifically designed to be quicker and easier to erect than the other two mobile belfries, but also to be lighter. It is expected that the Touring Tower will have a total weight with its trailer of 1625kg, which is within the capabilities of many vehicles typically used to tow caravans.

The Charmborough Trust, which has for many years coordinated bookings for the Charmborough Ring, has now been renamed the Mobile Belfries Trust (MBT), and will now be responsible for bookings for all the three mobile belfries. In addition to looking for more people who might be able to tow the mobile belfries, the MBT is looking to add additional Trustees to help increase its activities and goals to take mobile bells out to new audiences.
The article also invites interest in hiring the mobile rings. If you are planning a marketing campaign or event next year, maybe as a university attending a Freshers Fair, mobile belfries have provide successful in helping to recruit. The bells in the Touring Tower could be used for teaching.
