From May thro

ugh to July 2007, various recordings were collected from local bands and artists involved in the burgeoning local music scene. With a sleeve design and much assistance from Rob Rutherford, the first Shakster Records CD was created where it was promoted both in Los Angeles, California and the home-town of Chelmsford, with all profits going to charity. Upon returning to the UK, an advertisement was spotted in a local paper asking for bands to perform at a beer festival. From this advert' a meeting with Seabrights Barn in Great Baddow ensued, where Shakster Records emerged with the responsibility for booking the bands and running the first Seabrights Music Festival, which took place on 25th, 26th and 27th August 2007. All in all, 17 acts played over the three days in what turned out to be a hugely successful event

November 2007 saw the beginnings of Shakster Records 2nd CD, culminating in a launch party in early 2008 - and the first of many Shakster Records gigs - in The Golden Fleece, Duke Street, Chelmsford. After a long stint at The Fleece, Shakster Records moved to the other side of town and took up residency at The Two Brewers in Springfield Road, Chelmsford. Panic in the Streets

Panic in the Streets is an all-day music and entertainment spectacular held in Chelmsford each year. Events are held in a wide variety of music venues and pubs across the city throughout the day. Shakster Records played it's part of course, as Panic in the Streets kicked off 2008's series of events at The Two Brewers, followed the same weekend by an all-dayer at The Golden Fleece. Seabrights Festival - Number Two

In August 2008, the much anticipated second Seabrights Festival was held featuring 22 bands and artists over three days. A commemorative t-shirt was also produced featuring the names of every artist appearing at the festival

Bay Day 2008

After the sad demise of probably Chelmsford's only remaining rock pub The Bay Horse in Moulsham Street, the much anticipated annual Bay Day event looked set to disappear forever. To save the 2008 event, Shakster Records stepped in at short notice to host the event at The Two Brewers on two separate stages. Another success was noted, and Bay Day continues to this day carried forward on the momentum of that year. Shakster Records continued to host gigs at The Two Brewers every Friday throughout Summer 2008, followed by a period of hosting gigs both Friday and Saturday from November that year. From December, Shakster Records moved into the Bar 2 Brewers, the event hall outside the main pub. Renamed Shakey's, another successful series of local gigs began in a new venue...

With the 2 Brewers being sold In Feb 2009 , I moved my live nights back to the golden fleece hosting nights every Thursday night with the odd weekend night as well . I have since hosted In Barhouse,Hooga,Smiths,The bird in hand ,Bar 1 , plus host 2 radio shows & presently host in Asylum & Bassment monthly

COMP DETAILS & RULES AS FOLLOWS
1. Any Band, Duet or Solo, any age can entry the comp But you need to be based in Essex
2.Anyone entering has to have at least 1 original track to that will need to be played during your preformance .
3. Each act will be given upto 20 minutes for the set and will be Judged by upto 4 judges ,on different aspects of your preformance on the night , Plus your professionalism in promoting the event ,arrive at the event , sound checking ect

4. As well as judges their will be a public vote and everyone attending the event will be invited to vote for their favourite act.

Act name , if a band how many members , Age range (over 18s , under 18s) , What area in Essex you come from (not all band members need to live in Essex ). Include a link to your page, Insta ,website and include an original song MP3 /WAV link if a large file. These tracks may be played on Shakey's Sessions On CCR & other shows on Chelmsford Community Radio 104.4FM upto the comp .

Please note that the comp takes place over the weekend of Friday 13th and Saturday 14th September at the BLACK Black Bull Chelmsford . Before you enter please make sure you are free to play anytime between 7pm -11pm on Friday 13th or Saturday 14th 2pm -11pm . Also should you be chosen to take part you will be asked to avoid any other local Essex gigs Between 1st September and 27th September . A lot of time is going into putting this comp on and some great prizes are being given to winners . So we want acts to be passionate about taking part and not using it as just another gig .

So at the start of this year in the first week of the year I was contacted by the Matt who started Chelmsford Community Radio 104.4FM over 10 years ago with Hal asking if we could have a chat but their was nothing to be worried about . So then I thought oh no I wonder what I have done wrong , Is CCR dropping me or worse it was no longer going to brodcast (their is a whole different story I could tell now about certain people & certain things that went on behind the scenes at CCR towards the end of last year & maybe I will one day but this is not the time) .Anyway Matt rung & instead of doing something wrong , As Hal had left towards the end of last year & I had been with CCR from day 1 pretty much even producing a Picture of me on what must have been 1 of my first days in the studio 30th April 2014 (picture below) He asked If I would be interested in becoming a DIRECTOR AT CCR. I nearly fell of my seat & said yes straight away . I have achieved some amazing things over the last 17 years with Shakster Recordsuk & also on Saint FM between 2010-2017 , then the last 10 years on CCR, But never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would end up being a DIRECTOR of a FM RADIO STATION IN CHELMSFORD , My home town. The hard part was that I was asked not to tell anyone know about this so everything could be put in place behind the scenes and all the paperwork was done . So other Rach , my Mum and a couple of friends who were asked not to say a word I had to pretty much keep some of the biggest news of my life secret for around 6 months . Then about a month ago I had a letter through the post confirming I am now a director of Chelmsford Community Radio. Now that all the other members of the CCR family have been told I thought it was time to share my amazing news with all my friends . We have loads of exciting news to share with everyone over the next couple of months so if you would like to hear about this first please give our socials a LIKE or Follow. Also please give my shows page Shakey's Sessions On CCR a like so you can hear about the best new ,local ,unsigned music around.
