Sweden’s JÄRNBÖRD will release their second album “Filmer för blinda” (Movies for the blind) on January 10th 2025.

The album took almost four years to complete. The fact that it took so long has a lot to do with the band releasing a handful of split records and singles in the meantime, but also because of an ambition to really invest this time. “What happens if we broaden the view of what our grindcore really is? Can we attack the songs from another direction - plank a Pixies stick, interpret Björn Afzelius?”

On Björn Afzelius's song "Flickan i snøn", the band is guested by Anna Wagner from, among others, Dead Sleep. She is joined by more guest artists. In "Rockar med mammon" Mikey Lennartsson from Gamla Pengar and The Dahmers rasps out lines about having time to listen to Slayer and in "Vi ska ätas, vi ska dömas", the techno artist Johanna Knutsson sings about how sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut.

“Filmer för blinda” revolves around the phenomenon of being human - during one and the same day, we can be exposed to feelings of helplessness, joy, sadness, anger, fatigue, love, friendship and hatred. How do we handle it? How do we stay afloat? Some close their eyes, others confront it. Some booze their day away, others go to work. Some becomes right-wing, others renovate their balcony. But in the end, nothing really matters. It's movies for the blind.

“It has been important for us not to get stuck in the generic. Although we have taken every opportunity to place ourselves in the grindcore genre, we have always identified ourselves as a regular rock band. We quite often play a very fast form of rock music, but in the end it's completely normal rock we deal with. It also gives greater freedom in terms of lyrics. I want to be able to write about raw capitalism, but I also want to sing about fast cars and Torgny Lindgren”, says Anders Schärberg, who plays guitar and sings in JÄRNBÖRD.

“Filmer för blinda” is mostly recorded in Studio Covid by Niklas Ehrlin, with the exception of the drums, which were recorded in Studio Tonhuvud by Hannes Heed. Mixed and mastered by Ulf Blomberg, HoboRec Recording Studio.

"Bagulnik" will be released on December 27th 2024 via Aesthetic Death.

VOIDWARDS are a minimalist, droning, extreme doom act that have existed, under various guises, since 2005.
Amidst frequent line-up changes during this time, the core member{s} have remained true and committed to their vision of creating heavy, oppressive, claustrophobic doom.

This is the first full length album in their 20-year existence. Preferring earlier to channel their music through live performances and improvised recordings.

Historical research into a provincial Russian archive, done by the band’s vocalist, became the inspirational source for “Bagulnik”. This formed not only the lyrical concept, but a thematic flow for the whole album, including the lysergic dirge found in the music itself.

Most lyrics are extracted from the diaries of a rural teacher, named Ivan Perfiliev, who claimed that the swamp on the outskirts of the town possessed supernatural properties. Believing he could hear the voice of the swamp inside his head, constantly calling to him. Somewhere in the depths of this swamp, he believed, lived an unknown ancient beast that howled at the moon and caused great suffering.
In his diary, he also wrote how other people in the locality were suffering from the same condition. It hasn't been possible to verify the accuracy of these accounts, occurring over a century ago, but through the album Voidwards take us on a sonic journey of the events from the swamp, giving both hypothesis and conclusion to what caused people in this area to have such visions and mental illness.
Ivan was hospitalized with acute psychosis (schizophrenia) but later escaped the institution and ended his life through blunt trauma to his head.

The background noises throughout the album are processed field recordings. These were created at the location of the swamp (as well as in abandoned churches) in this part of northern Russia.

The focus on the cello throughout this album was used to specifically create some of the lysergic haunting sounds.

"Bagulnik" is an exploration in atmosphere and slow, oppressive tones.

It is not an album for the masses, not even for most interested in sub-genres of doom. But for anyone open-minded and willing to explore and immerse themselves in obscure, raw, claustrophobic, minimal, sounds then give it a try…… take this introspective journey of otherworldly music, blending drone and funeral doom.

“This track is one of the songs from the new album that best encapsulates the band's evolution and journey from its inception to the present day.
The lyrics focus on the spirit animal used by the Samnites, in this case represented by the Wolf, which guided them in their quest for new lands.
The song represents a fusion of history and mythology. Here, the Wolf is portrayed as a kind of demon leading the Samnite armies to victory under the will and strength of Mamerte (Mars), the god of war, one of the deities worshipped by the Samnites. All the victims claimed by its fangs, followed by the army, serve as an offering to the gods, who in return grant them renewed strength. At the end of the battle, the statue of the goddess Kerres, the deity of birth, rises high, satisfied with the blood sacrifice. French death metallers Liquid Flesh will release a new EP, "Vestiges Abrutissants” (mind-numbing vestiges), in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of their formation. The EP is due out on December 13th 2024.

On the EP, the band delivers an inimitable hybrid of gritty basement-bred death metal boosted by sleazy grease and explosive unpredictability.

“Dislocated” is the first full length album by South African Piano Doom / Experimental artist and singer-songwriter Charles East (Official) and it will be released via Brucia Records on December 17th, 2024 on digital and a special slipcase CD edition also containing a 14-pages booklet.

8 months after the release of the EP “I am your consequence”, here is another fantastic showcase of talent and personality from CHARLES EAST - simultaneously gloomy and assaulting, spasmodically shifting from tender to desperate to furious, and again evoking all sorts of shadows to rise between the sparse and desperate chords of a lamenting piano, to then explode in fits of rage and anger.

The album sees the special collaboration of Eva O (Christian Death, Shadow Project, Super Heroines) as guest vocalist in one song.

Thematically, CHARLES EAST's music addresses darker themes ranging from intolerance, isolation, and obsession to self-loathing and the agony of life.
