TRYBLITH is a formidable black metal force that emerged from the depths of the Tri-State area in 2009, founded by A. on guitars, J. on drums, and L. on vocals. The trio quickly made their mark on the black metal scene, releasing a series of demos and an EP while performing extensively throughout the region. Their raw energy and dark sound resonated with audiences, establishing them as a rising power in the genre.

After a brief hiatus around 2012/2013, TRYBLITH reawakened with a renewed lineup. A. returned on guitars, joined by M. on additional guitar duties, L. on vocals, McElfresh on live bass, and D. on drums. This powerful formation led to the creation of their first full-length album, "A New Aeon", a record that propelled the band to new heights and cemented their place in the black metal scene.

In the tumultuous years of 2020 and 2021, TRYBLITH evolved once more. U. took over guitar duties, and McElfresh departed, marking another period of transformation for the band. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, this era birthed the hauntingly powerful "Cosmic Serpent"", released on May 28, 2022. The album showcased the band's ability to channel chaos into their music, delivering a work that was both intense and evocative.

Undeterred by the shifting landscape, TRYBLITH continued to push the boundaries of their sound, culminating in the release of their most recent album, "Draconis Maleficium". With Draugr joining on bass, this album delves deep into themes of ancient sorcery, mysticism, and the occult. "Draconis Maleficium" is a testament to TRYBLITH's mastery of blending raw black metal with atmospheric, symphonic, and melodic elements, inviting listeners on a dark and captivating journey into a realm of arcane forces and malevolent entities.

For fans of: Windir, Marduk, early Dimmu Borgir

Italian dark metal act INNO - featuring current and former members of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, HOUR OF PENANCE, THE FORESHADOWING, SULPHUR AND MERCURY and NOVEMBRE - has reemerged with a new line-up that includes new singer Tiziana De Amicis.

The band expressed their excitement for their comeback, commenting:

“Friends,
It is time for us to let you know what has been going on with INNO.

In the past months we made important and transformative decisions.
Elisabetta and Riccardo are no longer part of the band.
Our journey continues, as we re-shape our identity with an even deeper connection with our inner-selves.

We are super excited to welcome Tiziana De Amicis in the INNO family.
She is an incredibly talented singer and a phenomenal performer. We couldn’t be happier that our paths crossed in such a timely manner.

Together with her, we have been hard at work to finish our second album, feeling more inspired than ever, after having to go back to the drawing board.
With Tiziana’s voice on our tracks, we have created something really special that we are truly proud of. The new songs are dark, heavy, intense, deeply emotional and powerful. We can’t wait for you to hear them!

We will enter the studio on the 1st of October, so keep an eye out and stay tuned.

Here are a few words from Tiziana: ‘It's crazy how paths cross in the most unexpected ways sometimes. I met Marco while recording in his studio for another one of my projects, and we immediately realised we could work very well together. Being the singer of Inno is allowing me to learn a lot, and express myself in such a different way. The members of the band are amazing human beings and the artistic exchange we have is precious. Also, being a huge metalhead, it's obviously a dream come true! I can't wait to share our new music with everyone’.

We want to thank all of you who have been patiently waiting for our new music. We are absolutely sure that what’s coming will be worth the wait for you.
In the meantime, show some love to Tiziana

Make no mistake, we’re coming back stronger than before.

Marco, Cristiano, Giuseppe and Tiziana”

The band’s line-up currently features former and current members of acts such as Wargore, Onirik, Phobic, Dead Chasm, Daemoniac, Husqwarnah, Pit of Toxic Slime and Stench of Profit, among others.

The band was formed in 2019 from an idea of musicians who at the time were part of acts such as Black Rage, In-sight, Atlas Pain and Sojourner. After a debut show supporting Asphyx and some line-up changes, the band entered the studio to record their debut album "Front: Toward Enemy" in 2020. After its release in 2021, HUSQWARNAH kept themselves busy on the live front, sharing stages with acts such as Mortuary Drape, Baest, Discharge, High On Fire and Voivod. The latter show was recorded and then independently released under the title "Live At Bloom" in 2023.

HUSQWARNAH's death metal is as genuine and convincing as it can possibly get, paying homage to certain traditional formulas dating back to the early nineties, with songs that are particularly compact in structure and dynamics, ideal for being performed live and thus reminiscent of bands such as Asphyx, Bolt Thrower and Benediction.

GRAVA will release their ominous sophomore album, “The Great White Nothing”, on September 27th 2024 via Aesthetic Death (CD), Vinyltroll Records (LP) and Evil Noise Recordings (MC).

The first single, “Decimate”, is now streaming here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_u7cchmqIs&pp=ygUOZ3JhdmEgZGVjaW1hdGU%3D

The Faroese/Danish trio’s debut album, “Weight of a God” (2022), showcased a violent yet atmospheric type of sludge metal that was simultaneously raw in its ex*****on and disciplined in terms of songwriting. Its follow-up continues in the same vein while adding a touch of nuance and depth to the vicious soundscape. Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Troels Damgaard Holm and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.

Though not a concept album, the album kicks off with two tracks ("Erebus" and "White Thresher") that revolve around the same event: the tragic Franklin Expedition, which in 1845 ventured to the northernmost Arctic to explore the Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The expedition was a disaster; both ships (HMS Erebus and HMS Terror) were lost, and all 128 crew members perished in the great white nothing to which the title and cover refer.

Throughout the album, GRAVA expand their lyrical universe, and the bleak sludge metal is accompanied by tales of a heartbreaking ex*****on of a Swedish nobleman in 1707 ("Breaker"), a tragic train accident in the outskirts of Copenhagen in 1897 ("Mangled"), and a soldier's final chaotic moments in one of the countless muddy trenches of World War I (“Bayonet”).

Just like on their debut album, GRAVA do not attempt to tell stories from A to Z but instead attempt to capture moments of death as seen through the eyes of the dying. The effect is a musical and lyrical drama that appears fragmented and intense but also surprisingly disciplined in terms of songwriting. In a genre often characterized by long songs, GRAVA never lose grip on their compositions, and although “The Great White Nothing” is full of interesting musical ideas, the tracks rarely extend far beyond the three-minute mark.

Ahead of its release this Thursday on the fierce Aesthetic Death roster, Everything Is Noise today presents an exclusive premiere of "Nightmares Devour The Waking World", the devastating new LP from Rot Coven. Stream the album at this location:

https://everythingisnoise.net/premieres/decompose-with-the-intense-weight-of-rot-coven-on-nightmares-devour-the-waking-world/

ROT COVEN is a 2-piece, noise-drenched industrial death metal/sludge band.

MZ sings and plays bass and drums while DD focuses more on guitar, then both members slather everything in layers of noise boxes, scrap metal, ritual drums and processed field recordings. This duo has been creating music together in various bands for around twenty years.

Born of a lifelong love of cosmic horror, heavy riffs, and creeped-out industrial noise, the band that would become ROT COVEN first saw the light of day during the COVID-19 lockdowns of spring 2020.

The initial idea was to fuse ominous dark ambient synth textures with pounding "doom" style drums, but bass, guitars, vocals, and scrap metal percussion were quickly added to the mix resulting in a room-shaking cacophony equal parts Autopsy, Chu Ishikawa and the slow crawling No-Wave dirges of early SWANS.

ROT COVEN's first physical release "Nightmares Devour the Waking World" pairs two full-length albums: Phase I (initally self-released through the duo's bandcamp) and the unreleased follow-up Phase II. Phase I builds colossal sludge riffs out of lurking death industrial dronescapes with the final track erupting into a supernova of scorching psychedelic leads and almost "doomgaze" melodicism, while Phase II descends deeper into the abyss, adding elements of unrelentingly ugly death metal to their apocalyptic scum-dirge.

Both albums explore a planet ravaged by cataclysms - storms of poison ash, churning acidic seas, and deserts that spread like a sentient organism. Colony collapse disorder on a galactic scale. A world where nature is so thoroughly gutted that reality itself starts to corrode, letting something seep in from "outside." A hostile consciousness so massive and utterly alien that the last remaining humans begin to worship it as a god:

Hideous rituals of blood and fire.
Cathedrals sculpted from scrap metal and the shattered bones of the dead.
The soul slowly, inexorably, replaced by void.

Ahead of its release this coming Thursday on the twisted Aesthetic Death roster, NO CLEAN SINGING today presents an exclusive stream of "To Hold Onto A Heartless Heart", the unsettling new LP from Australian doom metal entity Mekigah. Stream the album at this location:

https://www.nocleansinging.com/2024/08/09/an-ncs-album-premiere-and-a-review-mekigah-to-hold-onto-a-heartless-heart/

The fifth MEKIGAH full length album is a purposely designed ugly, drawn out, raw, awkward journey.
There's no attempt or desire to either embrace the slow slow doom, to aggressively technically impress or to build upon previous motifs.
Everything is caught between worlds, as MEKIGAH itself is caught between worlds.
Nothing is where it belongs as things are uncomfortably forced together through the sheer necessity of only gaining satisfaction via sonic self sabotage and harm, creating audial-mazes to which then have to delicately navigated through.

"I trade in uncertainty and superstition and cant. I invent dark visions of impossible situations that can never be resolved” - Ralph Steadman

Heavily driven by basslines along with industrial, sparse, neanderthal drums. Guitars are featured heavily, but infrequently as riffs, more as screeching, wailing, floating walls of high frequency pain that are meshed with discordant piano lines – all this amidst the brief, but demented, freestyle vocal stabs and incoherent mournful chants.

Neither the gothic metal, nor the noise doom of previous releases, yet having slight nods to both in fleeting moments.
“To Hold Onto A Heartless Heart” can feel immensely detached & cold but somehow personal & emotional too. This is MEKIGAH evolving, following his own heart and creative vision.

More challenging than catchy or entertaining in any shape or form. Layers of sound to discover and uncover in detail on repeated listens. At other times there feels to be claustrophobic walls of noise that are impassable, impossible to make sense of but for the hope and glimpses of reason that are seen through the minimalist riffs and beats - simplistic, repetitive and drilled into your skull over and over again.

“What it's all about”….. is far more dictated by however any individual interprets the music, or how it makes them feel.
With any lyrical content, words & voice serving far more as an instrument or sound than expressing a storyline or emotion. Words on this album are minimal yet the confusion & loss that inspired them were huge.

(Writtenby Islander) Metal-Archives currently brands the Australian band Mekigah “Gothic/Doom Metal” based on the band’s first four albums. Based on Mekigah‘s forthcoming fifth album they may have to put an “(early)” parenthetical next to that genre description. But what will they put in...

The lyrics to 'Accretion Disk Necropolis' are based around this weird dream I had where there was this sprawling “graveyard” of used up/ uninhabitable planets, derelict vessels, and all this broken space-tech slowly being swallowed up by a monstrous living black hole.

Today, Venice death metallers Membrance drop the video for "Spirar nel Caigo”. The song is taken from their latest album "Undead Island", released in June 2023 via Extreme Metal Music.

Watch the video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZpdJbgWCFE

The band commented: “‘Spirar nel caigo’ means dying in the fog. Back in the day, the poorest and least fortunate lagoon fishermen, rowing in search of a good place to fish in the colder months, often found themselves overwhelmed by the arrival of the fog. Looking for food for themselves and their families without getting lost became the real challenge, but many people who were disoriented and exhausted from fatigue never found their way home".

MEMBRANCE were created in 2012 as a death metal project by Davide Lazzarini, but they began their proper activity in 2015, with the completion of the band’s line-up. After some personnel changes, the group released the first album "Abyss" in 2017 (Envenomed Music) and the sophomore "Morality’s Collapse" in 2019 (Envenomed Music/Narcoleptica Productions), developing a sound strongly influenced by the groove of the Scandinavian HM2 driven death’n’roll.
In 2023, with the "Undead Island" full-length (Extreme Metal Music / Rockshot Records), the band finally introduced more prominent Venetian themes, references to the ancient local folklore and the current social situation in their lyrics, developing a more personal concept. The new songs are more compact and tighter, showcasing an old school death sound with black and thrash metal influences.
In the last few years, the band also got more active on the live front: MEMBRANCE have become a well-known name in the local scene, sharing the stage with acts such as Entombed A.D., Benediction, Marduk, Brujeria and Gutalax, to name a few.

Further news on MEMBRANCE's activities will be revealed in the coming weeks.

"18 Karat" is a high-energy song that plays on the stereotypes of success, the fleeting pursuit of it, and the deviations tied to the quest for visibility and personal approval, sought ten, a hundred times a day. Essentially, it's about designing one's life as a fairy tale and presenting it in the public arena to gauge how much social approval we receive.

The song doesn't lack irony, as highlighted by frontman Riccardo Zamurri: "We want to criticise those who resort to endless filters, both metaphorically and literally, the filters of social platforms that force unattainable standards, fanciful realities, and success. How much human misery is there in all this? But at the same time, how much unintentional comedy does it produce?".

Musically, "18 Karat" is a modern tribute to a certain style of hardcore punk. It's direct, catchy, communal, fast, and sharp, with a chorus that leaves no escape: "he's a ticking time-bomb, tik-tok tik-tok".

"Old City New Ruins" is due out on September 30th 2024 via Time To Kill Records.
