This week we’ll be going through the August 1974 edition of the colourful monthly magazine Music Scene, which personally I loved back in the day, and I was mortified when the publishers binned it a couple of months later (although they tried to combine it with a Weenybopper mag called ‘Fan’, which, predictably, was a very short lived disaster). Anyway, we’ll have top tracks from ELP, Deep Purple, Focus, 10cc, Geordie, Bob Dylan, Bryan Ferry, Bad Company, Cockney Rebel, Golden Earring (not that one!), Rick Wakeman and more!

Steve Chelmsford is the host and producer of The Mop Tops & The King and has been a fan of The Beatles and Elvis Presley since he was three years old. Steve got his start in radio when he met Dusty Fenders, a local radio personality on Radio Goldfield, a small community radio station in the middle of the Nevada desert. Steve developed a friendship with Dusty and his radio partner Carl Brownfield and soon became a member of The Carl & Dusty Radio Boogiewriting jingles and other musical pieces for the show. About a year later, Radio Goldfield (KGFN 89.1FM) asked Steve if he would be interested in hosting his own show. The Mop Tops & The King made its debut on December 4, 2011

I ran my own business for 20 years and then moved to live in Lanzarote in 2022. After moving to Lanzarote I volunteered as a presenter on a local community station here in Lanzarote and that is where The Time Of Our Music Life was "born. Originally from the North East of England I was born and brought up in Stockton on Tees. The radio is always on wherever I am and I love any chart music from 1960 to (almost) the present day. The first record I ever bought was Esther & Abi Ofarim / Cinderella Rockefella, but please don't hold that against me!
