I Made An Exception! π
Anyone who's followed me for a while knows how much I'm all about getting the most authenticity out of people when they present to camera.
This is a much harder task than it sounds and it's why I'm there to hold their hand and walk them through it.
A couple of days ago however I had the pleasure of teaming up again with Dawn McGruer to create some MASSIVE value! π₯
Now I can't really say much about what was shot as its too secret and her community would be right to be excited!
However what I will say is on this occasion I made an exception for scripting and autocue.
A common myth is that a script is an easy option for content newbies, how hard can it be to read right? For most surprisingly harder than you may think.
Remember, authenticity is key. So it's not enough to just read. You still need your mannerisms, body language, facial expressions, energy to go along with it. You can't just read whilst being dead behind the eyes! π
Lucky for me Dawn is practically a seasoned pro and having worked with her multiple times in the past I had absolute confidence in her nailing it and she absolutely did!
Due to the nature of the content (top secret can't say! π€«) it had to be well structured and formatted, hense the mostly scripted approach.
We managed to smash out over 40 pieces of content that I'm excited to get moving on!
This is what I love doing, making mass content, made easy!

We DON'T have an Attention Problem!
It's often said people's attention is getting shorter and shorter. I don't think this is necessarily the case.
Attention is there for long form content, you can see that by the ever growing statistics of viewer retention on YouTube and Podcasts etc, so what exactly is happening?
I don't believe it's a lack of attention, it's an abundance of choice.
We've never been in a time where choice in every aspect of life is so readily available and that includes content.
So your competition is high, the viewers are (rightly so) selfish and you have less time to prove your worth before they move on to someone they perceive as more worth their time.
It's why having a hook is important to grab people's attention, offering value, tactical, practical value will help them stick with you.
Over time you will build an audience base of advocacy and you can move them through your content funnel, into your marketing funnel, leaving you with a high quality lead to convert!

Give yourself freedom! π₯
If you've tried to sit down and talk to camera and you're finding it particularly difficult, the reason may actually be in that sentence.
SITTING in front of camera might be a little more challenging than it seems.
By sitting in front of camera you're taking away a bodily function, you're opening up more space in your head to overthink. This can often lead to a subconscious feeling of constriction, preventing you from using hand gestures and body language, possibly giving you a stiff/robotic performance.
Often when I spot this in a client, the first thing we do is adjust the shot. Stand them up, give them freedom to stand, move and gesture. Not just give them the freedom, but encourage it.
By standing up we re-engage the brain, it's now got more things to deal with whether just standing or walking and talking, reducing some of that over thinking.
My clients have often found this a lot easier than sitting and a great way to get started talking to a lens!
So get up and give yourself room to be free!

After an amazing shoot with her I was massively impressed by her ability to bring her natural, authentic-self in front of the lens, to the lens, to her audience.
A skill that shouldn't be under estimated!
Looking forward to creating and refining this content before getting it out to her market place!

Why going viral is a bad strategy! π₯βπ«
So going viral was often seen as the holy grail of marketing. Mass organic reach by repeated sharing and sounds awesome, so why wouldn't you want to go viral?
Going viral is a very difficult goal to achieve, and very very often the content that is entertainment or natural and has nothing to do with business or brand and wouldn't work to a business benefit.
The Internet is unpredictable, trends move quickly and its difficult to know what the masses will resonate to in that short window.
Now yes it has been done on a business level with some very clever ads, with specialist teams behind them.
Aiming for viral is a risky game, as nothing is guaranteed. It's wide but thin method which doesn't niche and doesn't attack your target market. This means that although exposure would be high, it doesn't guarantee conversions would be.
On the flip side, you could very easily attract the wrong sort of people too! This could mean you get tons of eyes on, you get a wealth of followers and subscribers of people who will never have any intention of buying from you.
The other reason I don't believe it's an effective strategy is because its simply not sustainable. Even if you managed to go viral once, what happens when you don't go viral the next time? Do you class that as a failed campaign? Are you now going to hold that viral content as the standard to compare everything against? It's an unfair variable in the rest of your marketing when analysing what's working and what isn't.
Also a risk you may not of considered, is the content being taken the wrong way, receiving backlash and negatively effecting your brand.
In conclusion I would say that going viral is a 'quick win' mentality which for the most part, is an ego driven objective, fuelled by vanity metrics or reach and views which aren't guaranteed to convert into any substance for your brand.
A much better, safer and more effective strategy would be to focus on creating consistent, quality content, aimed at helping your audience solve their problems, add a dash of patience and you'll be on the road to creating a strong foundation of value, increasing rapport, your brand's positioning in the market and your worth!

Now there's of course many things to consider when coming up with your video structures and strategies, so I thought I'd cover some of the key aspects.
When structuring a video, think about the following:
1. The purpose of the video: What message do you want to convey?
2. The audience: Who are you trying to reach?
3. The key takeaways: What information do you want the viewer to remember?
4. The story: How can you make the video engaging and interesting or create an emotional connection?
5. The visuals: How can you use visuals to support the message and story?
6. The call to action: What do you want the viewer to do after watching the video?
7. The pacing: How can you make sure the video keeps the viewer's attention for the full video?
8. The sound: How can you use sound to enhance the video and support the message?
Remember, a well-structured video can effectively convey your message and engage your audience in just 60 seconds!

Boost your ROI!
Firstly how do you measure ROI? π΅ Obviously financial return is usually top of people's lost, but do you measure in other ways?
π Brand awareness, visibility, credibility, increased reach, increased mailing lists, quality of leads, etc. Now admittedly some of these can be much harder to measure, which is why often people don't.
π₯ Video is proven to increase engagement, generate leads, and drive conversions.
β€οΈ Use emotional storytelling to build a connection with your audience and turn them into loyal customers.
π Use value driven content to build trust as you help people identify and solve their problems.
I'll be the first to admit, video isn't a quick win and although on rare occasions it can, it won't blow up your business over night, it's noisy out there now and you need to break through that noise with your content. However despite what some may think, there's never been a better time to use video marketing in your business.

Video content is a game changer for businesses!
Not only does it grab the attention of potential customers, but it also allows you to connect with them on an emotional level.
Use video to tell your brand's story and showcase your unique value proposition to build rapport and convert viewers into clients.
We've all heard that "know, like and trust" is hugely important when it comes to growing your business. Well video is the best way to create this outside of face to face.
It's the best 1 to mass way of creating the know, like and trust factor and also works whilst you sleep!
Video has definitely solidified itself as a powerhouse tool within marketing and is only going to be used more and more.
If you haven't started utilising the power of video marketing yet, as the old adage goes, it's never too late.

What is value?
I talk a lot about giving value first with your content, but what do I mean by value?
Value essentially is putting the viewer first. Giving them something they can take away from the content and will benefit them in their own life.
Can you educate them, can you solve their problems? Can you inspire them, help motivate them? Can you entertain them? All questions worth asking yourself about your content, does it do the above?
A direct sales piece is a much harder tactic these days, we're bombarded with sales and deals and offers constantly everyday. So much so, society has almost become immune to it.
We are skeptical and we can spot a sale coming. The second we do, we disconnect from the content, we disengage with the creator.
That's why 'value first' content can be so much more effective. It's a positioning tool that puts the viewer first.
I like to think of it as a subconscious sales tool.
So what does your content do for the viewer?

π₯How to create emotional buy in with video!π₯ Why not go deeper than a simple testimonial? Create a case study. This iw hy documenting the journey can be so important. What you're actually doing is gathering the evidence of growth. This is something as a society we are drawn to, watching people grow, adapt and overcome life's obstacles. With the right questions to guide the answers to tell the story and the narrative you want, you can create an emotionally engaging piece of content that will resonate with the target market. This is one of many videos we did on this filming day with varying styles. Yes there was some more fun, shorter, punchy, fun ads to attract the kids attention and get them asking their parents about martial arts. However the parents hold the pennies, so we also had to tell stories thta would engage and resonate with them, allow them to visualise how they or their children could benefit. Not just talk but actually show them the difference and the benefit! So consider case studies, think of them as a mini documentary of success! π₯π₯
π₯Your customers are your best sales forceπ₯ A little snippet I've pulled from a podcast from my good friend and long time client James Burtt It goes without saying the power of a testimonial is often unmatched. A first hand review of you, your brand and your service. As I've said before this is not a sales piece of content however it is a subconscious sales tactic. Testimonials can work brilliantly to display quality and position you from a third party perspective, adding credibility to what you do! π₯
Why is authenticity so important? It doesn't matter if you're in retail, a coach or even crypto currency like my friend and client Indy Kheela here! Authenticity is absolutely crucial. If you run a business, you're taking people's money. They've worked hard for that money and they're trusting you to provide a service in return for it. Trust building is the gap in between. Fro the first moment they see and hear you and your brand until the moment they're handing you the money and even after! Being authentic will help you build that trust, trying to be something you're not, portraying yourself different to who you are, that will break that trust. The last thing you want to hear when meeting someone is; "oh, you're not like I thought you'd be from your posts". π© HUGE RED FLAG π© Be authentically you.
Frame it or not?π€ Lets talk about frames. Often made, but unmentioned. Why would we use a frame? Ultimately the use of a frame purely comes down to preference. However I personally believe the benefits of having a good, on-brand frame for social media are well worth while! So what are they for? Having it custom made to be on-brand means you continue to maintain a strong brand identity throughout your micro social content. It's subconscious branding, so you don't have to keep audibly reinforcing it to people, it can sit and embed itself into people's mind without feeling pushy. You can also add a message, which can firstly support the content of the video, but secondly act as a scroll stopper, an impactful hook that makes people stop and want to listen. π₯π₯π₯
Why Give Value? Value first content logically is definitely a long game. It will NOT make you an immediate return, it won't create a sudden influx of leads. Value driven content is playing for the long run. Value content positions you as an expert, it allows you to give without expectation of anything in return, this builds rapport with your audience. This is planting seeds for those who may not need you now, but next week, next month, next year, might. And who's brand will be in their head? We're a society who have become attune to being able to spot an ad or a sale a mile off, we expect it, and instinctively we now switch off and disengage with that type of content. Delivering value is a subconscious sale. We're not trying to sell ourselves, but by not selling ourselves we are in turn doing just that!
