We'll be there! Are you coming to help celebrate the centenary of the hospital on Cold Overton Road, Oakham?

A week to go come join us next Saturday (17th august) for family fun day to celebrate Rutland Memorial Hospital turning 100 years old. Find out about what happens at Rutland Memorial today and have a look at some of the history of the hospital. Also bouncy castle (free), face painting, book stall, 1st aid demonstrations, hook a duck and a raffle with lots of wonderful prizes. Most stalls are cash only.

£1 a strip either pop to the hospital Monday to Friday 8-3pm and ask for Laura or Carla at reception or drop us a message on here and we will sort them for you.

The kindness of people...

Good Morning Rutland,

Toward the end of my 12 hour shift yesterday I attended a broken down motorhome in a live lane on the A1.

Once making the scene safe with all of my emergency equipment, the tail back moving slowly past and recovery arranged enroute, the only benefit to it being a motorhome could be taken advantage of... having a kettle onboard! Whilst waiting for recovery, the couple that had broken down were very generous and offered me a cup of tea, which was very welcome. I hadn't had a break all day due to how busy I was with both emergenices and my ongoing case load. Tea quickly made and enjoyed safely at the side of the road.

It turned into 2 for the price of 1 when another vehicle broke down and rolled its way into my cone taper, not long before the motorhome was fixed and on its way again. So a long day turned into a long evening! (Photo taken at time of 2nd breakdown).

Please be aware - if you do break down at the side of the road, safely exit your vehicle, stand in a safe position at the side of the road and phone the relevant services, including us on 999 if you are in a live lane or dangerous position.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Edith Weston on Friday last week (2 August).

The collision occurred around 12.15pm on Manton Road and involved three vehicles – a silver Vauxhall Astra, a blue Kia Venga and a white Mercedes van.

The driver of the Kia sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where her condition has been described as serious but stable.

The driver and passenger in the Vauxhall sustained minor injuries and were discharged after treatment. The van driver was not injured.

Our investigation remains ongoing, and we would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or captured any footage on dashcam is encouraged to get in touch.

Witnesses are being sought after two drivers died following a road traffic collision on the A43, near Bulwick.

At about 11.45am on Thursday, August 8, a collision occurred between the drivers of a silver Skoda Roomster car and a blue Mazda CX5 car.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Skoda – a woman in her 60s – and the driver of the Mazda – a man in his 70s, sadly died at the scene.

A woman in her 40s travelling in the Skoda was airlifted to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries along with two children.

Three passengers travelling in the Mazda – a woman in her 60s and two teenage women – were taken to University Hospital Coventry.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit believe the A43 would have been busy at this time of day and would like to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage that captured any part of the collision.
