Over the weekend, our creative team scribed at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress. We love scribing because it captures important ideas and sparks future conversations, and this keynote looking at mental health in the pharmacy profession showcased the importance of this.
This in-depth talk covered mental health from a range of angles and our scribes illustrated what was said for further discussion at the congress and beyond. We Are Cognitive founder Andrew Park captured important issues like masking, toxic work environments and the triggers people face.
This was a sensitive subject. While scribing it, Andrew took care with his visual thinking to focus on themes rather than the stories, respecting the anonymity of speakers and what they shared.
Conversations like this are crucial as we create workplaces that better support our mental health and it was a privilege to scribe!

How the time zone you live in has shaped your life!
We’re not talking about the time on your watch; we mean the psychological time zone you live in. This can have a big impact on how you experience life and plan, and American psychologist Philip Zimbardo has identified six psychological time zones that we think in. As we enter the new year, we think this is an interesting and important idea to consider!
Past Orientations:
People with a past orientation may focus on positive aspects like nostalgia, family history, and rituals or dwell on negatives like regrets and failures. This orientation significantly influences one’s worldview and actions.
Present Orientations:
Present-focused individuals are either hedonistic, seeking pleasure and novelty, or feel constrained by external factors like fate, religion, or socioeconomic conditions, leading to a more fatalistic outlook.
Future Orientations:
Future-orientated people are driven by goals, planning, and delayed gratification. Long-term objectives, societal expectations and personal or religious beliefs about the afterlife often shape their behaviour.

Ending weight-based stigma with King's College London!
Weight-based stigma is pervasive. It impacts people in every aspect of their lives. To make matters worse, the advice people with excess weight receive to eat less and exercise more doesn’t work and oversimplifies our bodies’ complex processes. We worked with Kings College London to draw attention to this important issue.
Our creative team needed to make an explainer animation that tackled these widely held misconceptions head-on and showed the devastating impact of weight-based stigma. We needed to connect with viewers at an emotional level, share research and explain scientific evidence in a way that was understandable, impactful and memorable.
Our explainer animation for Kings College London required a careful, considered and tailored approach that resonated deeply with audiences. To do this, the creative team centred the narrative around a character called Emma. Emma’s story highlighted the personal and medical impacts of weight-based stigma, and its shocking pervasiveness in a way that all viewers can relate to. The team weaved facts into Emma’s narrative, evidenced by key stats, that brought home the severity of the issues.
This set the foundations for the second part of the narrative, which explained the origins of weight-based stigma and delivered science that counters common misinformation. Drawing to a close, our clear call to action emphasised the importance of dealing with weight-based stigma and introduced the Joint International Consensus Conference.
This project and its vital message drew on our creative team’s visual thinking and storytelling skills, and we’re delighted with the impact it has had!
