I have spent over 25 years within the Tourism, Events & sector working with a variety of companies including many restaurants and bars, hotels and venues, airports and DMO’S. I help them to become more confident and efficient in sales and social media, to achieve better results and greater profits. The time I have spent specialising within this sector has given me many insights and tried and tested ideas and techniques on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. I have researched the content that delivers the best results for the sector and now assist companies to implement content strategies or I give them the tools and training to do this themselves. I am the Northern Associate for ‘Selling Savvy’. Selling Savvy is an award-winning business that increases sales and conversion rates within the hospitality, event and tourism industry. We have successfully trained teams within chains of hotels as well as SMEs and owner-managed businesses and have only ever received 5* reviews from our clients. My sales experience includes time spent at Visit Britain, Leeds Bradford Airport and 11 years with Marriott Hotels. I set up and managed the Marriott Cluster Event sales office, as well as training & helping to write the SOP’s nationwide. I also spent time in proactive sales roles before I started my own business. So so proud to have been part of this amazing team this last year or so.

As well as just being such a huge mine of knowledge and experience you couldn't ask for better team mates and now friends.

What has been achieved in the last year is just astonishing considering the circumstances but I have no doubt that Selling Savvy under the fabulous Kate Plowright will continue to grow & grow as we all genuinely love the industry & are proper events, hotels and sales geeks!!

If you are interested in how the Facebook algorithm works then Facebook have recently put out this video that might help a little.

There are obvious things in here but it isn't completely transparent! (of course if we knew exactly how it worked we would be rich!)

As a business it goes without saying still that content needs to be meaningful and relevant to the user, less promotional, engaging, topical etc.

Basically the more someone engages with your posts the more likely they are to show them to others and to them again. I like to compare it to a snowball effect gathering people, reach, and engagement as it rolls down the hill, getting bigger and bigger as it goes.

I'm really bad at singing my own praises & sharing testimonials & reviews when I know I should practice what I preach.

So I'm going to stop all that now and be proud of them!

I thought I would share some of these with you all over the next few weeks so you can see what it is like to work with me!

I'm super grateful to Jaimie who I worked with alongside her colleague Chloe last year on their B2C social media presence. They were a joy to work with. I helped them pull together content calendars that gave them lots of ideas (something they were struggling with) they could use on their social media platforms and find their social media voice.

These reviews make my day, it genuinely isn't about the money but being able to help others & to make a difference (cheesy I know but true!)

Is there something in your job you just hate doing? If you could magic some little fairies 🧚 or elves 🧝 to come & do for you, you'd be over the moon?

Mine is my accounts for sure, I always say I'm going to keep on top of them but I end up behind because it just doesn't excite me! (below is the sort of look that comes across my face when I think about doing them!! 🤣)

I can also be guilty of procrastinating on things like proposals, which are obviously vital & important they are done so well. It's just I know I will take ages on them, mulling them over and getting them just right!(probably too long!)

What are your things you wish the elves would do for you?🧚 🧝

This week is . You may not know but I am a coeliac, diagnosed about 5 years ago, so I have to be gluten free.

Lots of people don't understand what coeliac disease is they just think I'm being picky. I can assure you if I had the choice I certainly would love a nice Krispy Creme Doughnut & boy do I miss Lindor chocolates & nice crusty warm bread! 😋 (salivating as typing this!)

On my poll I did at the beginning of the week I asked everyone what they think their biggest challenge will be on returning back to work & by a small margin the top answer came out as 'feeling anxious'.

is so important & although I don't profess to be any kind of expert I do suffer with my own anxiety issues, so can relate 🤗.

As part of our '𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝑻𝒐 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔' course I'm delivering on 13th May with Amanda Baker MIH Selling Savvy & in collaboration with HBAA, we have the fab Gavin Percy dropping in as a guest speaker. Gavin is the MD of Balancing Edges ⚖️ & will be discussing some '𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒆𝒔'
