CROCKER TO WALKER: YOU'RE GOING BACK TO THE SMALL HALL SHOWS AFTER THIS!

'The Croc' meets 'The Wolf' in Welterweight war at Resorts World Arena Birmingham

Lewis Crocker knows that a win over Conah Walker could take him a step closer to an all-Irish blockbuster with unbeaten Limerick talent Paddy Donovan later this year.

Belfast's Crocker (19-0, 11 KOs) clashes with Wolverhampton's Walker (13-2-1, 5 KOs) for the WBA International Title in what promises to be an unmissable Welterweight war at Resorts World Arena Birmingham this Saturday - live worldwide on DAZN.

'The Croc' beat Mexico's Jose Felix with a devastating fifth-round knockout at Ulster Hall last time out in January, and the 27-year-old Sandy Row native is targeting another dominant performance when he takes on a resurgent Walker on away soil.

“I always say that the end goal is a World Title," said Crocker. "This is the perfect fight to get a world ranking and a new belt. This fight isn’t a 50-50 fight: I’m the better fighter. He’s been talking a lot of s**t recently so I’m looking forward to getting the job done.

“He’s s**tting himself so he is. He hasn’t fought on the big stage. He was on the top table at the press conference and he was all happy with himself. Good mate because you’re going back to the small hall shows after this. Your time is over. See you later. I’m ending the man.

“Who’s this guy talking to? Do you know what I mean? He’s won two fights in a row and he actually thinks he’s Mike Tyson. This guy would have to kill me to win this fight. I don’t know if he actually believes what he’s saying. I think he’s a bit stupid in the head. I can’t wait.

“I’m laughing at this guy already. One million percent I stop this guy. I’m too big, too strong, too smart, too fast. Get that in your head mate. You’re never beating me; ever. The fans can’t miss this fight because they can see the bad blood already. It’s going to be toe-to-toe for the get-go; there’s no doubt about it.”

Crocker, who picked up four wins from four fights in 2023, continues to thrive under the guidance of veteran Scottish trainer Billy Nelson and the heavy-handed Irishman says moving to Scotland has been a game-changer for him both inside the ring and out of it.

“Mentally, it was important for me to come to Scotland where everything is set for me with Billy (Nelson) and all of the lads at the gym. Everything is just great over here.

“The distractions back home, it’s just drinking and partying and what not. When I didn’t have fights and stuff, everything was just going to s**t. Mentally and physically, training over here has changed me as a person, inside and outside of the ring."

Crocker vs. Walker is part of a big night of action in Birmingham, the main event sees Tyler Denny (18-2-3, 1 KO) defend his European Middleweight Title against former British and Commonwealth Champion Felix Cash (16-0, 10 KOs), slick Blyth prospect Cameron Vuong (4-0, 3 KOs) takes on late replacement Jeff Ofori (13-7-2, 4 KOs) over ten rounds at Super-Lightweight, Watford’s Shannon Ryan (7-0) and Newark’s Emma Dolan (6-0, 1 KO) create history when they become the first women to contest the British Super-Flyweight Title, with Dolan's Commonwealth Title also on the line, Walsall Flyweight Hamza Uddin (1-0, 1 KO) has his second pro fight against Giulio Commerso (4-1,1 KO) Oldham's Aqib Fiaz (12-1, 1 KO) and Birmingham's Kane Baker (19-11-2, 1 KO) clash over eight rounds at Lightweight, Birmingham Lightweight Ibraheem Sulaimaan (3-0, 2 KOs) looks to impress on home soil when he meets Jesus Gonzalez (3-1) over six rounds, Leicester Super-Bantamweight Muhammad Mustafa Ali (4-0, 1 KO) fights Kelvin Madjid over six rounds and Hamburg Heavyweight Emanuel Odiase (2-0, 1 KO) kicks off the Before The Bell action.

QUEENSBERRY BACK IN BELFAST, 28 JUNE

All the fight artwork can be downloaded here and is free to use.

THE BIG BANG, Pierce O’Leary will make a fourth defence of his WBC International super lightweight title against Darragh Foley when Queensberry make a return to Belfast at the SSE Arena on Friday June 28, live on TNT Sports.

In the co-main event of ‘Belfast Brawl’, recent Frank Warren signing Conor Quinn will fight for the vacant Commonwealth flyweight championship when he takes on the English champion Conner Kelsall on his Queensberry debut.

Tickets for Belfast Brawl at SSE Arena, Belfast on Friday, 28 June go on SSE Presale tomorrow (Wednesday, 29 May) at 10am, and on General sale on Thursday, 30 May available from: ticketmaster.ie

O’Leary (14-0, 9 KOs) last fought in Birmingham back in March when he overcame the unbeaten Hovhannes Martirosyan in an impressive fashion, stopping the Belgian in round nine.

Foley (22-5-1, 10), the Irish southpaw based in Sydney, Australia, is a former regional IBF and IBO champion and was most recently in action in Manchester, where he was defeated on points by Jack Catterall. In his previous fight he overcame Robbie Davies Jr via a third-round stoppage in Liverpool, with the home fighter also sustaining an ankle injury that prevented him from continuing.

Quinn (9-0-1, 6 KOs), the Celtic champion, teamed up with the Hall of Fame promoter following a strong recommendation from fellow Belfast boy Carl Frampton and ‘The Magnificent’ launches his TNT Sports journey with a fight in his home city against an also unbeaten contender in Kelsall (11-0, 1) from Doncaster.

Belfast favourite James McGivern (8-0, 2) will make a first defence of his BUI Celtic championship when he goes up against Cardiff’s Rahid Omar (6-0, 1) in a battle of the unbeaten lightweights over eight rounds.

McGivern, 26, seized the title in November of last year with victory over the previously undefeated Josh Sandford in Letterkenny.

The vacant Commonwealth Silver featherweight title will be on the line for Belfast ‘Posh Boy’ Colm Murphy (11-0, 3), who goes up against the Scot Jack Turner (6-1).

Five further recent Frank Warren signings will feature on the night. Ferocious Liverpool bantamweight Jack Turner (6-0, 6) - who is yet to experience the second round of a fight in the pros - along with Jadier Herrera (14-0, 12), a Cuban southpaw, who both train out of the Rotunda Gym in Liverpool. Plus Steven Cairns (7-0, 4) from Cork, as well as with Bedfordshire welterweight Nicola Barke (4-0) and the decorated amateur star from Ballyhaunis Eoghan Lavin (1-0), who made his professional debut at York Hall in April.
The professional debut of Manchester super welterweight Walter Fury completes the card.

“I am very much looking forward to returning to Belfast where, most recently, we staged hugely successful shows headlined by Carl Frampton,” said promoter Frank Warren

“I am very happy to be going back and showcasing the talents of Queensberry’s Irish contingent, headed up by Conor Quinn and Pierce O’Leary, with both in big fights and Conor in what should be a classic collision with the English champion, the highly-rated Conner Kelsall.

“There will be lots of local talent on the card - including a number of our new signings - and I am particularly looking forward to seeing Steven Cairns in action for the first time under the Queensberry banner, plus Jack Turner, who comes with an already formidable reputation.”

Tickets for Belfast Brawl at SSE Arena, Belfast on Friday, 28 June go on SSE Presale tomorrow (Wednesday, 29 May) at 10am, and on General sale on Thursday, 30 May available from: ticketmaster.ie

JACK CATTERALL SAVOURS JOSH TAYLOR WIN AND CALLS FOR WORLD TITLE FIGHT WITH TEOFIMO LOPEZ NEXT

'El Gato' moves to 29-1 with unanimous points victory over Scotsman at sold-out Leeds First Direct Arena
Jack Catterall sealed it with a kiss as the Chorley Super-Lightweight ended a two-year wait for revenge by beating Josh Taylor in Leeds last night.

In what will go down as one of the best British bouts of the year so far, there was an element of controversy once more in this powder keg clash between the two auld enemies with the judges scoring coming into question like their first contest some two years ago.

But there was little doubt that the right man had his hands raised in victory this time round as Catterall avenged the sole defeat of his career thus far with a unanimous 117-111, 117-111, 116-113 points victory.

An electric sold-out crowd of 12,000 fans at the Leeds First Direct Arena congratulated the Jamie Moore-trained fighter on his long-overdue success – led, of course, by his biggest supporter and proud partner Lauren Finch, who Catterall will marry in 10 days’ time.

And after the pair embraced in the centre of the ring, Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) was quick to outline his ambitions of becoming a World Champion in the 140lbs division with his sights set firmly on securing the straps he felt he should have acquired in Glasgow back in 2022 when he was first denied against a then-undisputed king in Taylor.

Catterall, who remarkably runs the Manchester 10k today (Sunday) despite his gruelling extolls less than 24 hours ago, underlined his targets during a post-fight press conference alongside Matchroom chairman Eddie Hearn – and revealed his hopes to face WBO and Ring Magazine World Champion, Teofimo Lopez next.

“The World Title has always been the dream for me,” said Catterall.

“We didn’t get the undisputed and we didn’t get the World Titles last time. But that’s fine because that chapter has been rewritten now.

“We’re in a great position and Eddie (Hearn) has a massive stable at 140 so I want that World Title fight.

“I was mandatory for the WBO title for what felt like a lifetime. He beat Taylor before I did. We’ve both had a win over him and now I want to prove that I’m better than him. I believe I’ve got the style to beat Lopez and that’s the fight I want.

"It’s time to share the ring with you (Teofimo Lopez). Let’s see who the true champion is."

On winning the fight last night, the 30-year-old added: “It was a big relief. We’ve been there before, and I turned straight to Eddie (Hearn) because I thought I’d won the first fight clearly and then I thought I had won this one clearly too. But you never know with some of the scorecards, so to get the decision was a right relief for me.

“I knew the threats that Josh would bring and that I needed to stay disciplined and not get too complacent in there. But I also knew I needed to push and squeeze for this victory, as I knew I wouldn’t be able to coast to the win. I had to keep my emotions intact and take the opportunities when I saw them.

“You’ve got to be prepared for every outcome and to adapt. We didn’t know whether Josh would. come out of the blocks for the first four rounds or whether he was going to try and drag it out in the later rounds. I trained hard and you must be ready for anything in there. I’d had a long camp with some great sparring partners, so ultimately, I just had to adjust and tackle what was put in front of me.

Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn agrees that Catterall has now earned the right to challenge for a world title – and insists the Englishman would have no trouble accomplishing that feat should he collide with Lopez next.

“After a fight like that, with that kind of profile in front of a sold-out crowd and huge worldwide audience live on DAZN and also, in the U.S, on ESPN+, Jack is right up there,” Hearn said.

“Of course, people talk about the trilogy (with Taylor). For me, I will always look at the biggest fights out there. But it’s also important we look at the big fights for the career of Jack Catterall.

“He should have been the undisputed World Champion, so we now need to try and position him for a World Championship. When you have a performance like that and a night like that, positioning someone like that is far more easier to do because people want to see it.

“We have Subriel Matias fighting Liam Paro in a couple of weeks (June 15) and we will have Devin Haney fighting Sandor Martin.

"Teofimo Lopez is fighting Steve Claggett – and, without being disrespectful to Steve Claggett, it is a disgrace. It’s a joke fight for someone who says he’s the best 140lb in the world. Jack Catterall is the guy who should be fighting Teofimo Lopez, and we believe he will beat him all day long.

“We believe that Jack should be a World Champion now, but that’s a thing of the past and is now the next step and the natural step. One thing we know for sure, it will be a massive fight next – and, if I have a choice, it will be for a World Title against Lopez."

Gravesend Cruiserweight Cheavon Clarke progressed to 9-0 (7 KOs) as he stopped Ellis Zorro in eight rounds to claim the vacant British Title in the chief support bout, Limerick Welterweight Paddy Donovan (14-0, 11 KOs) moved a step closer to a showdown with the winner of Lewis Crocker vs. Conah Walker by halting Lewis Ritson in nine rounds to retain his WBA Continental Title, Naas Lightweight Gary Cully (18-1, 10 KOs) picked up the vacant WBA Continental Title by outpointing Francesco Patera over ten rounds, Aldershot Lightweight Giorgio Visilio (3-0, 3 KOs) made it three knockouts from three fights against Sergio Odabai, Billericay Middleweight George Liddard (7-0, 4 KOs) picked up his second with of the year against Graham McCormack and Newham Super-Welterweight Leli Buttigieg (4-0, 1 KO) kicked off the Before The Bell action by decisioning Anas Isarti.

Sunny Edwards and Adrian Curiel will clash in a 12-round Flyweight battle as the chief support bout for the blockbuster World title clash between Juan Francisco Estrada and Jesse Rodriguez at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday June 29, live worldwide on DAZN.

Both men will be looking to bounce back to winning ways and get back to World champion status, and for Edwards (20-1 4 KOs), it’s an immediate return to the state where he met headline star Rodriguez in a unification clash in December.

The Briton faced ‘Bam’ in Glendale with his IBF title on the line against the WBO king, but was stopped in the ninth round of a thrilling battle, leaving the states with a first career defeat. The 28 year old, who also penned a new deal with Matchroom today, will be looking to regain the IBF belt after Bam vacated it to face Estrada, a title that he took from Moruti Mthalane in London in April 2021 and successfully defended four times before facing Rodriguez.

Curiel (24-5-1 5 KOs) moves up in weight after two dramatic World title clashes with Sivenathi Nontshinga. The Mexican challenged the South African in Monte Carlo for the IBF World Light-Flyweight title in November and stunned the champion with a KO of the year contending right hand in the second round to rip the crown away. The pair met again in a rematch in February in Oaxaca, Mexico, but this time it was the former champion that exacted revenge in a thrilling battle with a 10th round stoppage.

“I’m really excited to get the next chapter of my career underway,” said Edwards. “Agreeing another deal with Matchroom which confirms my future here for the foreseeable future.

“With the belief I’ve got in me from the promotional team and the events I’ve been involved in, I know I’m in the right place.

“Me vs Curiel is a hell of a fight. He is a former World Champion, like myself, and we’re both fighting to get back into World title contention.

“I’m going to Arizona again and fighting in front of an even bigger crowd this time, filled with passionate Mexican and American boxing fans. 29 June, I’m looking forward to being back.”

“I have a brand-new opportunity for my career,” said Curiel. “When you lose, you learn, and I will prove it against Edwards on June 29.

“If they want to make it 112lbs we will take it even though this is not my weight, all because I am thirsty for revenge. Viva Mexico!!”

“This is a great fight between two men desperate to get back to the top,” said Hearn. “Sunny was a World champion for a long time and when that feeling goes, you want to get it back as soon as possible, while Adrian only just tasted that for himself for a short time, so both men know that this is a must-win fight to get back into the mix, and comes as the chief support to one of the biggest fights of the year.”

SCOTNEY - NAN ALWAYS TOLD ME I'VE GOT TO FINISH THE COLLECTION

IBF Super-Bantamweight champion spurred on by memory of late nan ahead of Lefebvre unification clash
IBF World Champion Ellie Scotney says her nan will have the best seat in the house when she aims to unify the Super-Bantamweight division against France's undefeated WBO ruler Segolene Lefebvre at the AO Arena in Manchester this Saturday - live worldwide on DAZN.

The 26-year-old Catford native, who fights in Manchester for the first time this weekend, won the IBF crown against Australia's Cherneka Johnson on a memorable night at Wembley Arena last June and proudly raced it around to her super-fan nan.

Sadly Eileen passed away at the age off 99 at the end of August, but she witnessed her granddaughter achieve her lifetime goal of becoming a World Champion after walking into the renewed Lynn AC in South London as a small girl. Scotney says her nan will be at the front of her mind as she looks to add to her legacy by becoming a unified World Champion on Saturday's World Title doubleheader.

"I always had this thing where I’d go down to my nan’s the week before a fight and I still did that for this one," said Scotney. "I still went down to my nan’s; I still went in the room, and I chatted rubbish to her like I usually do. She always used to tell me that she’d say a prayer for me. I know that she’s got the best seat in the house as always. Nan always told me you’ve got to finish the collection, and we’re onto the second part of that collection and I’ve got to deliver.”

Lefebvre (18-0, 1 KO) will be making the fourth defence of her WBO crown after winning the vacant title against Mexico's Paulette Cuesta in November 2021 on home soil. 'Majestic' will be fighting outside of her homeland for the first time in her career and Scotney acknowledges her 30-year-old opponent will be her toughest test to date.

"Even before the Cherneka Johnson fight, Lefebvre was someone that we targeted," said Scotney. "We tried to make the fight previously but it just didn’t align. Now I’ve got more to offer on the table and we’re both young, we’re both undefeated and we’re both World Champions. I believe that’s going to make for a great fight.

"I promise you now, whatever I’ve got to go through I’ll go through on that night. I’ll be walking out as unified Champion of the World. I just believe that these are the fights where you’ve got to show that you’re different. She’s 18-0 and I’m 8-0. You’d look at that and think that she’s got the more experience. I just think that it’s quantity versus quality in some respects.

"It’s my hardest fight without a doubt but believe me I’m more than ready to show that I’m there. I really am. I believe that this camp has showed me there’s more to me that I haven’t really even seen myself. I’m not just talking about in that boxing ring – I’m talking out of it. I feel like I’ve really grown as a person. I think it’s happening at the right time for me. Timing is everything and on Saturday night it will be my time."

Scotney vs. Lefebrve is part of a huge night of boxing in Manchester, Jordan Gill (28-2-1, 9 KOs) and Zelfa Barrett (30-2, 16 KOs) clash in a must-win Super-Featherweight showdown at the top of the bill, Warrington’s Rhiannon Dixon (9-0, 1 KO) looks to win her first World Title when she takes on Argentina’s Karen Elizabeth Carabajal (21-1, 3 KOs) for the vacant WBO 140lbs crown, Manchester's Michael Gomez Jr (20-1, 5 KOs) defends his English Super-Featherweight Title against Birmingham's Kane Baker (19-10-2, 1 KO), Liverpool Middleweight prospect Ste Clarke (1-0, 1 KO) meets Swindon's Jensen Irving (4-9) over four rounds, Oxford Lightweight Jordan Flynn (9-0-1, 1 KO) fights Tanzania's Tampela Maharusi (10-4-4, 5 KOs) over 8 rounds, Liverpool Super-Flyweight Jack Turner (5-0, 5 KOs) goes for another knockout against Abdul Kesi Ngaoma (7-5-1, 6 KOs), Brentwood Middleweight Jimmy Sains (3-0, 3 KOs) has his fourth pro fight against Mateusz Kalecki (2-1, 1 KO), Manchester Super-Welterweight William Crolla (3-0, 2 KOs) faces Italy's Fabio Cascone (4-9, 1 KO) over six rounds and Swansea Super-Bantamweight Brandon Scott (6-0, 1 KO) returns for his first fight since last August when he takes on Rodrigo Matias Areco (5-5-2) over six rounds.
