I’m going to highlight the individual releases included in our stockroom clearance.

These are releases where I have copies stored at my parents house and are currently available on a ‘pay what you like’ basis to help clear that space.

One of those releases is The Reacharounds (Leeds) second album Guitarmageddon.

The album features amazing artwork by Seanna Doonan Illustration.

The album caught a few people by surprise who perhaps weren’t expecting a second album by the band after that had initially split up upon release of their debut album.

Their plan was to start again under a new name but during the writing of this album they decided it sounded like a second album so should continue with the Reacharounds name.

We’re close to being halfway through the year and you may have noticed we’ve not released much so far this year. That is unlikely to change in the second half of the year.

Fear not though there’s things brewing for next year in terms of releases and there will numerous living outings by PHOP bands.

Here at PHOP HQ I’m trying to get the label in the best shape to release new music. That means raising some money and clearing the shelves to make space for new stuff.

With that in mind - and because it’s hitting home that we don’t have Long Division to look forward to in June anymore - both of our Long Division live albums are available on a ‘pay what you can’ basis for all of this month.

That’s Piskie Sits & The Ainsley Bands’ Live at Unity Works albums on 12” vinyl.

There are roughly 40 copies left of each title. Available for whatever you can afford.

Thanks to everyone who has streamed St Cyrus’ track Wise In The Ways Of The Wood this month. It has now surpassed 1,000 streams on Spotify, so is now monetised.

We can debate the rights and wrongs of Spotify’s new system but let’s leave that for another time. The important thing here is it has reached 1,000 streams in under a month so every stream has been monetised. As all that money is going to be sent to Bedi, that’s a positive here.

It’s Bandcamp Friday tomorrow and we have a special offer for the weekend. JJ Swimsuit’s album Icarus Tanninv Solutions will be available on CD for only £2 over the weekend.

It feels to me that this album got lost a little bit in amongst the chaos of the pandemic. This special offer is therefore an attempt to shine a light on this album again.

Fans of St. Gregory Orange and Yard Wars will obviously recognise the lyrical dexterity of Tim Metcalfe.

This was their second, and as it turned out, final full band album.

They were also still called The Michael Ainsley Band at this point. They had yet to take the Michael out of their name (sorry).

Our last copy of Knuckle’s Life Is Hard When You’re Soft Inside on vinyl. Thanks to everyone who has bought a copy.

There are no plans (or money) to repress the record currently but you never know what the future holds.

In the meantime we still have copies of the follow up album Life’s a Bench, Then They Put Your Name On It.

While we have significantly more than 1 copy left, we have sold well over half, so don’t hang about too long.

After my previous post, The Lodger’s Cul De Sac of Love is sold out. There may be a copy or two in various record shops but there are none left at PHOP HQ.

Another release that I strangely have just one copy left of is Knuckle’s Life Is Hard When You’re Soft Inside.

This was the first release (so far) that Philophobia has put out by Knuckle. We’d talked a few times before about a release and had put them on at several gigs but the stars had never alighted before this.

It was a very enjoyable year of release with the band gaining plenty of momentum, culminating at the end of the year with a sold out headline show at Warehouse 23.

I think we’ve only got this copy left because a certain virus curtailed that momentum the following spring.

I mentioned 6 items last week that were down to the last copy. 3 of those items have now sold out so I’m going to highlight the other 3 in more depth.

The first of these is The Lodger’s Cul De Sac of Love. We co-released this album with 3 other labels around the world. They were Pretty Olivia in Spain, We Were Never Being Boring (USA & Italy) and Lazyperfection in Japan. It was pretty cool to be working with other labels in this way.

It was also great to be involved in The Lodger’s first album in 10 years. They had been 1 of my favourite bands in the vibrant scene of the mid noughties so it was a bit of an honour to be asked to be involved.

It’s a surprise that we still have a copy left as Pretty Olivia sold out of their share in a few hours. Luckily the B word had no impact on our ability to sell, no siree.

Huge thanks to each and every one of you who has helped with my campaign to pay off the bank loan on the debts of the first 10 years. It is now paid off. Thank you so much. It is a massive relief to have it paid off.

I will now be able to put more focus on new releases. Not that the back catalogue is to be filed away and forgotten about. Everything is still available (physical items where available) and any revenue will help. I will highlight releases on key anniversary dates too.

The vast majority of focus though will be on the current roster of Knuckle, St Cyrus, Buen Chico and St. Gregory Orange.
