Brisk!
You know when the Robbins are out it's probably time to dust off those booties. My feet were certainly feeling it after my sunrise surf. I couldn't brave putting my cold wet wetsuit back on after breakfast, opted for sitting on some rocks instead.

Hindsight.
As much as I enjoyed sitting on the cliff top and capturing these photos, which I'm well happy with. I soooo wish I'd plucked up the courage to get in there in and amongst it. With winter in full swing there's always next time!

Laid Back
Don't know about you but I find I have to be pretty switched on when out in the surf. Keeping an eye on the horizon, your positioning, other surfers, those rouge board snapping set waves, you get the picture. Somehow this lad has found time for a little lie down in amongst the madness.

Top Turning
When I started surfing it didn't take me long to realise that I wasn't going to be the next Kelly Slater. Im much more drawn to the style and flow of longboarding. But, when it comes to photography, catching somebody pulling off a top turn like this. Its pretty satisfying!

They say your take of is a critical part of surfing, looks like this guy has mastered it! Very few times have I had that feeling of “dropping” in to a wave, the times that I have though felt incredible, such a rush!

I’ve been surfing Polzeath for a few years now but getting in and amongst it with a camera is far less daunting than it is with a 9ft+ surfboard. That is until 5 people are going for the same and I’m in the danger zone, my helmet is on the way. So when you spot me, aim for me and I’ll get out you way (hopefully)

This was a fun little edit with the boys and girls up at Putsborough Sands. Was good to mix it up with land, sea and air shots! Has to be said a certain someone did steal the show with his 11ft board, the line up was looking pretty tired of the wave hog!

Yesterday was a day of 2 halves, pun well and truly intended!

AM - and I got chewed up and spat out by the same set wave down at Watergate Bay. Two snapped boards with in ten minutes of being in the water! Only one thing for it, I got in with the camera. Turns out filming in surf is rather hard. So apologies to anyone that I said I got good shots of, I didn’t (reel to follow)

PM - Got in at my local at Polzeath and tried my hand at some photography, turns out it’s a lot easier than filming and far more rewarding. The shot of .harbour hanging 5 was one of the first shots of the session and by far my favourite! There were a few close calls, lad in the forth photo, you know who you are, please feel free to tag or get in touch.

The take away from yesterday is that some lessons were learnt in more ways than one. However rest assured surfers of Polzeath, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me!

A summers worth of training all boiled down to a quick 15 minutes of all out rowing. The boys of Padstow B team (my self included) put up a good fight and pushed all the way to the end but unfortunately we didn't make it past the first round, tough draw, tough birth and a bit of bad luck. We will be back next year!!

On the plus side it did give me plenty of time to film the Padstow A team who gave it their all and made it through to the quarters!

All in all a great day and can't wait for the training to begin again next year. Until then I hear the ergos (rowing machines) calling my name!

The brief was simple, to shoot a video that shows what goes on behind the scenes of a photoshoot. The subject was a deep sea diving suit from the 1960's. With my love of diving, how could I say no!

I was offered this opportunity from local photographer Paul David Smith Photography. It was agreed that it would be done in exchange for advice about the world of freelancing. However, when Paul received the finished video he kindly offered to pay me £50. Which now means I'm officially a professional freelance videographer!

🥁DRUM ROLL PLEASE 🥁

Here we have it, new name, new logo, same idea!

So I will admit, I was never truly settled on Coral Imagery as a name for my new business venture. I may have rushed in to it slightly, but lessons have been learnt (kind of). Having come up with "One Wave Productions" less than a week ago it's safe to say I'm getting that giddy feeling in my belly more than I ever did about Coral Imagery!

2022, I'm coming at ya!!!

Don't worry, I won't be making this a habit, but after much deliberation it comes with a heavy heart that Coral Imagery will soon be no more!

However I do have a new name lined up which I feel much better about! Any guesses for what it might include...
