This album needs no introduction. It's a classic by any measure and there's not a bad track on it. Just keep clear of the MoFi pressing - it's painfully bright.

2️⃣ The one you haven't heard (for ages)...
Grace Jones : Nightclubbing
Island Records 1981
Grace Jones never got the credit she deserved for her influence on the 80s and 90s music scene. Although over half of this album consists of cover versions, it's a tour de force of originality. Superb!

3️⃣ The one that will never be forgotten...
Daft Punk : Random Access Memories
Columbia 2013
Without a doubt, one of the best albums of the naughties. Random Access Memories is not only a modern classic full of impeccable tunes, but it is extremely well recorded and gives your system proper testing.

Weekend Wax : Peter Hook
This weekend, we celebrate the world's finest bass guitarist.

1️⃣ The one you have heard...
New Order : Substance
Factory 1978
Bass guitars can be lead guitars and this is proven on Substance with Hook driving every song forward with his Yamaha BB and sequenced synthesised bass. This album, which included new songs on the A side and remixes on the B side, set the foundation for the coming UK dance scene. This is an epic album and deserves a few hours of your time to fully appreciate it.

2️⃣ The one you haven't heard (for ages)...
New Order : Technique
Warner Bros 1989
By the time Technique was released, New Order were 10 years in, Factory was dead, and Madchester and the UK dance scene were in full throw. Technique never reviewed well. It was considered "old skool" and out of date, but listening to it 35 years on, you can tell it was about 15 years ahead of its time and noted by many bass players as one of their main influences. A fabulous album full of hidden treasures!

3️⃣ The one that's been forgotten...
Joy Division : Closer
Factory 1980
Overshadowed by the seminal Unknown Pleasures, Closer is still an outstanding album that gives you an insight into where the band is going and how they are about to take the energy of punk and change the music scene forever. Hook takes the lead on Closer, and his unique style of utlising higher bass notes leads the songs.
