For so many of us who work alone on our own company, it’s easy to become a bit complacent and, I think, a bit disillusioned. Sometimes you have to step away from the work that needs doing and focus on the business you’ve been building to actually see what you’ve created and understand where you want it to go.
For 6 years I’ve been building Watermill Media and I must say, after taking a step back today I’m pretty proud of what I’ve achieved and my ambitions for the company, it seems, are very much possible. So time to keep building and after some of my conversations today at it seems I may have some very exciting and busy months ahead.

Wanted to offer this to Facebook friends & friends of friends first so please share away. This is my full size violin. I haven’t played it for 10 years so it’s probably in need of professional tuning & the bow will likely need re-stringing but it’s full size (for ages 11+ish) and beautifully kept. Does anyone know of anyone learning or in need of a full size? Asking for £70 but offers accepted. I also have a leather case of sheet music 🎶 just want it to be loved & used 🙏

Work on Nailympia London started in March this year, so it was incredible to see it all come together at ExCel this weekend! This is actually the 6th year I've worked on Nailympia and with every year I love it more! It takes a lot of work to create something like this - we had over 320 arena seats and 363 online seats taken by 212 competitors, and 50 judges from all over the globe! I'm honoured to be able to continue to work with this fantastic team every year to build a truly outstanding competition for nail artists - I'm looking forward to 2024 already! Photos by Jon Bradley

Wow! What an event! So incredibly proud of The Scratch Team tonight. The Scratch Stars party was a huge success and it was amazing to see all of the work we’ve done on the Scratch Stars Awards & The World’s Star Nail Artist come together! Heart warming to see our hardworking nail artists win these coveted awards & have their moment on stage! Thank you Scratch team for a truly fantastic evening & it was lovely to meet you . Well done .scratchmagazine - you smashed it!! ❤️💅🏻⭐️

I'm starting to realise there's an art to running a business that relies on you also blocking out time to 'work on the business' and not just do the work. I currently run a lot of social channels for clients, so when it comes to running my own I tend to completely forget about it! But I'm going to make a conscious effort to change that and keep everyone more up to date with what I'm working on...
So here it goes... I had such an interesting business networking call yesterday that lead to some new connections and re-connecting with someone I worked closely with a long time ago! So interesting how these things go but I'm excited to potentially elevate my business and put a bit of a focus on coming up with new strategies and packages to suit small businesses.
Anyway it was great pitching my business yesterday and re-established the reasons I love doing what I'm doing! So here's a picture of me - consider this a reintroduction.
My name's Laura and I setup Watermill Media, a marketing company serving small businesses, 5 years ago. I have 18 years experience in editorial, design, digital & print media and marketing, so cross a broad range of services, which makes me a perfect fit for small businesses who just want to come to one person to fix a website, sort out their branding and market their business. I work closely with all my clients and fully immerse myself in their business - basically making myself a part of the team - which gives me a much better view of how to efficiently and positively affect their business, bring in more customers and better reach their potential. I love working with small business owners and get a huge sense of satisfaction out of knowing I've managed to help build a business for someone and share in their successes. Loving the sunshine today-almost as much as this little guy! I moved out of our shared home office a couple of months ago as it’s freezing in the winter and we had a gorgeous new puppy in our lives that needed a lot of attention, but with all of this beautiful sunshine, I’m contemplating heading back up there! The question is… will this sunshine last? ☀️thoughts…🧐
