The NEW Ballater Handy Map is oot!
There are plenty stocks at Ballater Caravan Park and Ballater Community & Heritage Hub.
If you would like some for your business, B&B, self-catering accommodation or shop/restaurant, just pop into either place and ask for some. They are FREE!
If you are truly house or business-bound and can't get out, drop me a message and I'll deliver some to you. ;-)

Today's Handy Map update!
I have two squares needing filled on one side (other side is full).
Ideally they need to be SHOPS/RETAIL (central Ballater/Bridge St) or at a push maybe one shop and one hotel/accommodation...?
Cost is just £20 (map is A4 folded to A6, ad is 30mm by 50mm), all I need is your logo and one single method of contact (an online one) - fb, insta, worrever.
BRD will invoice you once it's off to print. I have Ballater's newest cartographer working on the Map's actual maps as we speak...
You have 24 hours to claim your space. TWO left only.

📍 The new Handy Map is starting to take shape, folks!
Pink squares are the ones available, and you don't have long to snap em up...
📍 Just £20, send your logo to [email protected] to get one. If you don't have a logo, just email anyway and I'll blag something for you... ;-)
📍 Shops, Accommodations, Food Outlets and Services all welcome to take a space.
📍 Present advertisers featured here, do not panic - you will get the chance to amend/add to yours, ideally with something which leads people online to find you: email, web, fb link QR code, up to you. You get the picture, I hope.
📍 Map will be A4 folded to A6. At least 2,000 printed and distributed to village hotspots.

Taking one last stab at the new Handy Map for Ballater...!
Please bear with me 🤣
To make it cheaper for businesses and organisations to get on board with this, the price for a space has been reduced to £20 (was £40).
To make it easier, all you have to supply is your logo (ideally square, round or portrait) via email to [email protected]
I'll do the rest. If you're not sure your logo will fit, just ask.
The end result will be a folded A6 map with around 40 Ballater businesses, organisations, attractions and events featured, placed in our tourist hotspots and useful to visitors and residents alike.
I would love to get this out in time for the Easter hols (starts April 1st) on behalf of Ballater (Royal Deeside), which is supporting this publication.

Anyone remember the Ballater Fun Map? :-)
Well it's back (at last) with a brand new handy size (A4 folded to A6) and a fresh new look and it'll even make you a cup of tea (not really, but it will tell you where to find one!)
Attached is a rough version of the new layout.
We are also starting afresh with advertising availability, so having previously been on the map does not guarantee you a space...
There are now 40 spaces, roughly divided into FIVE areas - Accommodation, Shops, Food Outlets, Services and Outdoor.
All ads are the same size - 35mm by 50mm, PORTRAIT orientation.
Price is £40 for a single ad, which includes a basic design IF YOU NEED IT.
If you have a file that will fit these dimensions and still be readable, you can by all means use that.
If you would like to be considered for a place on the new Handy Map, please EMAIL [email protected] by THIS Friday (February 10th) by 5pm.
Spaces will be allocated more or less on a first come, first served basis, with some flexibility to allow a broad range of businesses to feature. Geographically, Ballater will be prioritised, again with some flexibility.
We hope to have them printed by the end of February, when at least 2,000 will be distributed at key tourist points (Craigendarroch Country Club, Ballater Caravan Park, Ballater Community & Heritage Hub etc) and any shops that wish to host them.

Hey folks! Here's my new flyer and price list for 2022.
Like most small businesses at present, I've had to up my prices a bit due to rising printing costs etc.
Only the main ad sizes (full/half/quarter) are affected. Small ads and Design fees remain the same.
The magazines still represent all-round really good value and it's advertising that targets your customers on their doorstep.

Delighted to be able to assist Ballater Highland Games with the last-minute production of a programme for their Picnic and Fun Day held today in Monaltrie Park.

Aga and I have been busy bees. Here is our new book: The VIBs, which is suitable for children under six and early readers.

‘Beatrice visits her granny every day after school. Granny Fraser has the prettiest flowers in Primrose Gardens. Her neighbours are too busy watching TV and playing with their phones to do any gardening and they have stopped growing flowers. The bees are unhappy, hungry and fed up. Inspired by a library book she has read Beatrice comes up with a plan to help the bees. She asks her friends Awa and Idris for their help to make the village beautiful again.’ 🌼🌷

I have dealt with the layout and printing of the Ballater Highland Games programme since 2014 and I could not be more pleased that they opted to produce a programme this year, despite the event's cancellation due to Covid-19.
The programme was produced to "ensure continuity, to reflect the admiration and respect for all Highland Games, and to thank and recognise the hardworking individuals, businesses and sponsors who make it happen".
Amen to that. And hats off to Amy Muir for her fantastic shots too.

Hold your ears! Josephine, Drama Queen, the loudest seagull in Aberdeen has landed in Deeside Books.
Our new picture book will be available from tomorrow.
As Aga and I can't hold a proper book launch due to Covid19 regulations, we will post an introductory video on Facebook on Friday with a reading of the story.

'Josephine Drama Queen' is a story about three seagulls in Aberdeen, who are wondering what to eat at mealtimes. Josephine has sophisticated tastes, Jack Scruff likes tomato sauce on everything and Hoolie, who is hopeless at catching fish, prefers stealing the food people eat. Every time he snatches food from someone Josephine goes into vocal overdrive and deafens everyone around them. She really is the loudest gull in Aberdeen. People chase after Hoolie and there is chaos on the beach until a compromise is reached.

The book is beautifully illustrated by Agnieszka Brozek, who also illustrated our first picture book 'I'm Not That Scary.'
It's suitable for under-sixes and early readers. It was designed and published by Cat Scripps from Myriad Pro Publishing.
