🎄🍰 Candy Cane Cake… with a twist! 🍓 The cake is full of festive peppermint goodness, but thanks to my Lidl fail (strawberry candy canes, anyone?!), the topping got an unexpected fruity makeover! 🙈

You can find the full recipe for this showstopping Christmas treat on page 46 of the magazine.

Will you stick to classic peppermint or embrace the strawberry surprise? Either way, this cake will steal the show! 🎅✨

Thursday 12th and Friday 13th - 2.30-4pm - Father Christmas will be here to hear your festive wishes!

*we do need some Christmas Helpers (Volunteers) to be available on 5th/6th December to have the Grotto open and welcome visitors and donations. If you can spare an hour or two, please email: [email protected]

We are appealing for information after a ram raid attack at a jewellers in Walton-on-Thames yesterday evening (28 November).

Officers were called to Fleur Jewellery on High Street just before 10pm, following reports that a silver Range Rover Evoque had rammed the front window. Two men were seen entering the store and leaving after a couple of minutes, jumping into a getaway vehicle – reported to be a white car driven by a third suspect – and fleeing the scene.

Thankfully, no one was inside the shop at the time and no injuries were reported.

An investigation is underway, and our enquiries remain ongoing to locate the second vehicle and identify the suspects. If you witnessed this incident, or have any dashcam, doorbell or CCTV image which could help, please contact us quoting PR/45240137371 via direct message or our online reporting tool here: http://spkl.io/6184fX4Xi

If you do not wish to speak to police, you can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Sad news about the Festival of Lights planned in Walton on Saturday —

We are saddened to say that after due consideration the decision has been made to cancel Saturday’s Festival of Light event on Walton High Street and at the plaza of The Heart Shopping Centre Walton-on-Thames

The Weather forecast is beyond the limits of what is acceptable with predictions of wind speeds of 19-20 mph and gusts of between 40-48 mph. The forecast is for 95%+ rain all day, especially in the afternoon/early evening – this is not the weather we would for our traders, suppliers and most importantly the community groups and schools who would be performing or taking part in the Lantern Parade.

We trust you understand our decision, after months of behind-the-scenes effort, we certainly haven’t taken it lightly.
However:

There will be FREE Face-painting between 12-4pm in the covered mall, thanks to our pre-booked supplier Wild About Faces
AND
The town centre and Heart Centre lights will be switched on*, on Saturday afternoon, so we hope our community will enjoy them for the remainder of the festive season. *BUT no mass 'countdown'.

Our Giving Grotto, in aid of the won't be open, but WILL on certain dates in the coming weeks and we will publicise these separately as soon as possible.

We hope to create an event for a lantern parade, so all the wonderful lanterns made across our participating schools can be seen and enjoyed by the community - more news next week!

🔍 Checking your tyres is one of the most important checks you can make on your car.

Driving with bald tyres can risk a fine of £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre! 😲

If all four tyres are worn below the legal limit, you could potentially lose your licence and face a £10,000 fine. ❌🚗

As part of a service at J.F. Autos, we'll check the tyre condition and tread for you, ensuring you stay safe and legal on the road. 🛞✅
