With 'Cornucopia Radio' soon coming to an end after 17 years. I think I'm allowed to indulge in a little warm nostalgia about all my time making audio & podcasts productions here in #sheffield.
It's been a crazy ride and this montage is just a tiny example of what I've got up to over the past couple of decades behind the microphone. What are you own memories of our time together?
Our new #AudioDrama is online right now, and it’s a very special one as it’s going to be the very final production to ever appear on the Cornucopia Radio website: http://www.cornucopia-radio.co.uk/gilded-imagination
Starring amazing Cornucopia regular performers: Hannah Lloyd, Pip Mason and Andrew Biss.
Journey into your own imagination; as the very headphones you listen to this story on will make a direct physical connection to your limbic system. Allowing one of our highly trained visualization therapists to talk to you directly and help you imagine the story you’ve wanted to tell for so long. Even though you feel you’ve lost your creativity, and this is no longer a tale you have within you.
‘The Gilded Imagination’ is the final production to be produced by Peter Beeston and Cornucopia Radio before he moves onto other projects. However all the work created over the past 17 years will remain available to listen to via our website and the different podcast feeds, and nothing will be removed in the future. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be asking for your own memories of all the work we’ve created together during the last three decades!!
This brand new production (which mixes audio asmr roleplay and action soundscapes) is a personal journey that is meant to be a conclusion for ‘Cornucopia Radio’. It’s all about the mindset of a person (who might actually be Peter Beeston) who creates stories like this. Suggesting that all these productions might come from another reality beyond ours...
Old Ground By Gareth Brownbill
On a pitch black night. On a storm swept road a few miles out of town. Torrential rain had soaked him to the skin in seconds. But he had never been so grateful of a passing lift in his whole life. He opened the passenger car door and got in, and slowly the truth was revealed...

“Old Ground” is another brand new #shortstory #flashfiction audio piece for #Halloween2023 about a mysterious meeting on an empty road.
It was written by our good friend Gareth Brownbill and all the voices were performed by the brilliant Idiom (Nick Anderson). You can find our more about Idiom on their castingclub profile: https://www.castingcall.club/idiom
I really like the original #graphicnovel artwork I’ve created for the video visuals and the tone/style I’ve directed the work with. I got a #CliveBarker #Hellraiser feel when I first read this story from Gareth and I’ve used this initial feeling in the final work.
As ever, do leave a comment with you own thoughts. I love the way we can all have our own ideas about a story and what it means; and no differing interpretation is ever wrong
We’re continuing to publish new material for #Halloween 2023. Which will all be used for our week long Halloween Radio broadcast this year.
Here is a short piece by Peter Richard Adams called "A Happy Saturday"
Evil little children all around us!

The story is about Jim Pryce, a deserter from the British army who finds himself back in England working alongside criminals in an old abandoned tin mine. But they don’t want to mine any of this tin; instead they want to use the mine to illegally important liquor by exploding the main tunnel into the sea and flooding the mine. Jim will have to fight for his life and escape the raging sea and a crazy old man if he’s to make it back to the surface and live another day.
‘The Killer Mine’ is based on the novel of the same name by Hammond Innes. It was originally adapted into an episode of the 1951 CBS OTR radio series ‘Escape’ (the story from the novel heavily condensed to fit into the 30 minute format). It has been slightly re-written, edited and directed for 2023 by Peter Beeston. It has been remade for this years ‘Sonic Society’ summerstock festival in which modern audio-fiction companies take on the challenge of remaking classic ‘Old Time Radio’ shows.

RELUCTANT GENIUS
By Henry Slesar (slightly adapted by Peter Beeston)
As they both sped through the ionosphere of the green planet, Buos was still trying to chastise Laloi, but like the airy, formless creature she was, Laloi ignored the criticism. Rippling zephyr-like, through a clump of daffodils as they completed their descent.
"So pretty," she sighed, flinging her incorporeal substance around each flower, absorbing their unified beauty of scent, sight, and feel. Buos shrilled himself into a column of wind, expressing his displeasure at her attitude.
"Stupid, silly, shallow thing!" he said. "If the others only knew how you behaved..."
"And you'll be glad to tell them, of course," she said, extending her fingers of air into the roots of the wind-bent grass. She rolled across the hill ecstatically, and Buos followed in grumbling billows of energy.
"I don't carry tales," he replied, somewhat mortified. "But we're here as observers, and you insist upon making this world a plaything ..."
"I love it," she said happily. "It's so warm and green."
Buos whipped in front of her angrily. "This is an assignment," he snapped, his emotion crackling the air about him. "We have a purpose here."
"Purpose!" she groaned, settling over a patch of crowded clover. "How many centuries will this assignment last?"
"This world is young," said Buos. "It will take time."
"But how long?" she asked mournfully. "Our world will be shrivelled and d
