If Kitchen Spasm HQ were an actual kitchen, this release, in my opinion, would be our first visit from a celebrity chef.

I’ve been a fan of “militant funkster” Thatboytim’s music for a long time, I even played an incredibly early version of Throwdown on a mix back in 2011, which after hearing it all these years later prompted Tim to get in touch and finish the tune…

Throwdown is a raw, jacked up, floor shaking ghetto house groove. Meanwhile, Struttin’ and Shakin’ takes a swinging steppin’ beat and marries it to some smooth hypnotic house textures

Imagine starting with a blank canvas of sound, a void, and then gradually introducing points or seeds, each emitting a unique tone or sound. These seeds represent the centres of the Voronoi cells. As you move away from each seed point, the intensity or characteristics of the sound gradually shift.

The distances between the seeds dictate the patterns and rhythms of the soundscape. Close seeds generate similar sounds, creating harmonies or repeating motifs, while distant seeds introduce contrast and variation.

As the sounds evolve and interact, influenced by the shifting boundaries and relationships between the Voronoi cells. Some regions may grow louder and more dominant, while others fade into the background, creating a dynamic and indelible mark on the sonic landscape.

This one is rather special as it is the first ever release from one of my oldest and bestest friends Daniel Cramer. The man (well, he was a renegade teenager back then), who properly introduced me to House music (of which there is non on this EP).

Together we "did" Back2Basics, consumed far too many McDonald's Bondi Burgers, franticly searched for that thing that "looked like the eraser off the end of a pencil", became obsessed with progressive house, breaks, drum & bass, Andy Page, Hybrid, Sasha & Digweed, drove around in an uncountable number of circles on Standoff, mourned when the rock band Wenslydale Cheese died in a tragic plane crash, managed to get our 7 years bad luck down to 5, listened to all the good GU mixes, spent far too much money on records with sped up beats and occasional basslines and then spent far too many weekends not sleeping and playing said records to living rooms full of kippers, trouts and wide mouth salmon...

Also, he lent me the records I learnt to mix with (Eddie Amador "House Music" the double pack with the DJ Sneak remix and Sneak instrumental version - top tip - that is an easy way to learn, mix two of the same records together).

I only posted this because I know he has an emotional post just waiting in the wings...
