Hundreds of people gathered in Accrington in memory of Lindsay Birbeck

Delays and traffic jams caused by temporary traffic lights - set up as part of road works on the junction of Whalley Road and Burnley Road in Clayton-le-Moors - have caused frustration for drivers and residents. Pamela Brankin, owner of the Crowning Glory hair salon, described the congestion as 'terrible' . She said: "A journey that normally takes five or ten minutes in now taking 30 - people are getting irate. People are late for appointments, it's not their fault, but it's just very inconvenient for everybody." The works are due to continue until August 20
